What about weekends? Or days off? Can you find time to get some activity/exercise in on those days? I think that would be a perfect way to ease into it. After all, 2 days are better then none! Do you get a lunch break at work? How about taking a quick 15 minute walk on your lunch breaks? Time to get back to basics. Cut out all the sugar, carbs, and processed food and get back to Protein and green veggies with every meal. Get 64oz of Water in. If you can stick it out for a week, your cravings for the junk should subside. Instead of stopping to get ice cream, grab some jerky at the store instead. If need be, get back on Protein shakes for a few days just to detox all the junk in your system. I guarantee if you try to find ways to move more and get back to basics like when you first had surgery, you will see results on the scale. And you will feel so much better and in control again!

Anyone whose goal weight is less than 100 pounds?
Babbs replied to Essence46's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Out of curiosity, why are you "worried" about losing weight slowly? When I first had the surgery, I too felt the urgency to lose the weight fast, but when I realized I was going to be a slow loser, I reexamined my thought process. I realized that sense of urgency came from my old diet mentality. In the past, on diets, I always wanted to lose weight quickly so I would be "done". But, I'll never be "done" with my sleeve. It's for life! So it doesn't matter how long it takes me to lose the weight as long as I am losing and not gaining. Ten years from now, when I am enjoying my happy, healthy, full life thanks to my sleeve, do you think I'm really going to care whether it took 6 months or 16 months to reach my goal weight? AMEN sister! -
I'd wait until you were at least 4 or 5 months out. My doctor advised 1 year, but I had a Bloody Mary around the holidays at 4 months out. That's the only drink I've had. I'm finding now it's more about the company I'm with and having fun socializing than it is about the food or drink anymore. Plus I'm trying hard to get to goal, and I'm not interested in filling my sleeve with empty calories at this time. But that's just me. I know several sleevers who enjoy a drink now and then

Yeah I mean I'm not saying I wasn't big buy I was 259 and luckily didn't have any illness but I was almost diabetic. I know this surgery is great for those with the hardcore issues. Like my dad but the idea scares me it's weird. Thanks for your response Yeah, you're young, that's why no medical issues really. It's a good thing you nipped it in the bud when you did, cause getting older and being obese doesn't do any favors to your body!

Sleeved at 47. I was teetering on full on Type 2 Diabetes, and was on Metformin. I also had dangerously high blood pressure (158/102) and was put on medication for that. After 2-3 weeks being sleeved, I was taken off both medications because my numbers had improved so much I think your dad sounds like the perfect candidate for sleeve surgery if that's something he wants to do. Help him out and show him this site and others he can get some good research about it to make the decision. You're a good daughter

Ladies, what do you consider your ideal dress size ?
Babbs replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm a 10-12 right now, but would love to be an 8. I look trim at a size 8. Plus I'm pushing 50, so I want to be realistic! -
I was 2 weeks full liquids also, but ended up being on full liquids for 6 weeks due to severe reflux ( but that's another story). ANYHOO, please follow your own surgeons orders and don't worry about what everyone else did. They are all different, and each have their own reasons for the different diets. I know it's hard. So, so hard! If you feel you absolutely can't hang, give them a call and see if you can progress to full liquids? I just hate seeing someone go against their doctors orders so soon after surgery.

There are just too many variables to say what expected weight loss will be. What your starting weight is, age, whether you're male or female, and whether you're exercising regularly are all factors in the amount of weight loss for each individual. That's why it's important to try not to compare your loss to others when the time comes. What I can tell you is it is much more rapid at first and then it will slow to more of the "normal" rate of loss (1-3 lbs a week) months down the road. Most people stall a few times along the way, too, so don't stress when it happens! If you're doing what you're supposed to be doing it will pass and you will be back to losing steadily. Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi there! Sounds like you are in the same boat a lot of us were in when we finally made the big decision to have WLS. I chose the sleeve because I had some personal experience with the bypass, as my husband had one almost 9 years ago. I didn't want to deal with the re routing of parts, possible dumping, and malabsorbtion issues you don't usually get with the sleeve. I personally believe weight loss is slower with the sleeve, (at least in my case), but I've also seen people lose just as quickly with the sleeve as with bypass. If you have problems with GERD or reflux, BEWARE. The sleeve can make it worse. Other than the issues with GERD, I'm happy with it. I feel it was the perfect tool I needed to lose weight, and aside from a few scars and only being able to eat small amounts, I feel completely normal and healthy, like I never had the surgery. And that's what I wanted.
-
I don't have this problem. My weight loss has been so slow, I'm lucky if anyone even notices, lol. But when my husband had RNY almost 9 years ago, he lost weight rapidly and got down to a healthy weight for his height (maybe a little on the low end). He got those comments all the time, and when he mentioned that to his surgeon, his surgeon simply said: "There are so many overweight and obese people these days, people don't even know what a healthy weight is supposed to look like anymore" Made sense to me.

for those already sleeved
Babbs replied to erose321's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At almost 8 months out, I feel completely normal. The only way I know I had surgery is the scars and I eat less. I think at first, you're tender in that area, so yeah it feels different. But I don't think it's a " I just had most of my stomach removed" different. You just know something was done in that area -
I'm just beginning this process and im trying go to follow my surgeons pre-op instructions

Oh so much THIS. For me, it's still one of the hardest parts of this whole thing. Not inhaling my food. I have to always be aware of how fast I'm eating. -

Attention scale users! A new challenge.
Babbs replied to Kindle's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Kindle Would you recommend this for someone as far out as I am? I used to only weigh once a week, but now that I'm closer to goal, I have been weighing every day. I find I stall a lot lately, and if I don't tweak things a little to break it, I'll remain stuck. So if I don't weigh for a month (which I'm seriously considering this challenge) how will I know I need to change it up? When I'm the same weight in a month? What are your thoughts? -
Are you tracking your Protein? Calories? Drinking all your Water? Keeping your carbs low? Exercising? You gotta give us more info in order for us to help. I know you said you're on pain meds due to a car accident. Does that mean you're limited on exercising?

Ah yes. A fellow no "fluff" girl. A girl after my own heart Oh, and soon you will be far enough along after surgery to help the newbies out, too! And you, too, will feel the frustration of someone wanting to justify harmful behaviors...and just holding your tongue. It's the circle of liiiiiiiiiife.....
