I'm telling you right now, losing too much weight is not a common problem people have with WLS, ESPECIALLY with the sleeve. Now, we've all seen the bypass patients who get thin and due to malabsorbtion issues may look a little sickly, but the majority of people struggle just to get to their goal weight. The weight isn't going to magically fall off and you wake up one day and say "Oh my goodness! I'm too skinny! How did this happen??" It takes work, and it's all up to you how far you want to go with it. If you are one of the fortunate ones who actually work the program and feel you've lost too much, you also are in control of balancing it out with the proper caloric intake to maintain an acceptable weight. Just like with losing it, it will be all up to you to use the tool the way it's intended. Believe me, worrying about losing too much weight is going to be the LEAST of it

When Can I Start Eating Bread?
Babbs replied to ImprovedDreamerGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kind of a two fold answer. Firstly, bread can be very hard to digest in the early stages of WLS. I know it feels like a brick in my sleeve the few times I've indulged in a little bread. Second, bread and starches are complex carbs, which turns into sugar and is slower to digest. That equals possible weight gain and cravings for more carbs and sugar, which can be major triggers for some. I know if I just stay away from complex carbs altogether, the less I crave junk. When I do indulge, it takes me days to detox and stop the cravings. That's why I and many other WLS patients choose to limit bread or stay away completely. -
Yup. If you want to keep it simple, white top would look great with both! And tan and navy flats would be cute, too.

Very interesting!! Thanks for sharing!

Amazing post! Thank you so much for posting! -
Very well said both of you. And it is so true! This is why I am "closeted". I live in Mormon country (a lot of people don't realize that Idaho, as well as Utah, has a large Mormon community), so it's very hard for me to come out as a non believer. Not so much personally, but professionally believe it or not. I am a Realtor, so I use Social Media a lot to attain and maintain clients. I fear that my "non believer" status would cost me business. In reality, it probably would. How sad is that? Sometimes I have to laugh at all the Christians and believers who feel so "persecuted". It's perfectly acceptable to utter phrases in every day life and on Social Media like "I'll pray for you" and "Thank you, Lord for XXXX" and basically have other people's religions shoved down my throat on a daily basis. But it's cool. To each his own. But if I DARE utter the words "I believe we are evolved creatures, trust science, and don't actually rely on a book written a few thousand years ago to determine my moral compass"...well, that doesn't go over very well. Between the angry insults and the condescending "I'll pray for you, you poor lost soul", WHO exactly is the persecuted one?

Yes, I have noticed it has happened to me also. But it could be a number of things for me. Hormones, getting older...wait... What was the question?
-
Did you ever in your life think you would get the suggestion to eat MORE??! Lol.
-
Also, I subscribe to the "eat full fat or nothing at all" thought... Full fat cheese, yogurt, mayo, real butter, oils, etc....that will help get your calories up, also. And they taste better than the low fat fake stuff they try to push....
-
Stay completely away from carbs right now and concentrate on Proteins and veggies. Can you get in some shakes in between meals or are you sick of shakes, lol? I think shakes would be a good way to get some more calories and protein in for you right now when you're so soon out and can't get all the calories you need from food quite yet.

You're eating 400-500 calories a day and exercising off 700-1000 calories a day? Yeah, you're in starvation mode. Either up your calories or slow down the exercise. That's not healthy, and your body will start eating up any muscle your are trying to build. I know so early out it's hard to eat more but you need to try to up to at least 800 calories or so.
-
You're probably not eating enough to compensate for the amount of exercise you're doing. You're only 10 weeks out, so I'd imagine you can only eat up to 800 calories? Is it possible to eat more? If not, back off a little on the exercise. You are gaining muscle, too, so that will slow things down. I exercise like a maniac, too, and I had to up my calories to 1100 to even continue to lose because my body flat out was holding on to everything. You are far too early out for that I'm sure. I do notice on these boards that once people get within our weight range, they tend to slow down and stall a lot. You just have to tweak things to figure out how to get things going again! Good Luck!

Because you're fun to talk to! Have a good night

You obviously don't know how to read sarcasm. No catty arguments here. Just peace and love.

5 days post op can't do all liquid diet. Anyone else do okay on soft foods?
Babbs replied to nugirl402's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
See my profile pic? It says "In order to change, you must be willing to be uncomfortable" I see a lot of people on here who don't want to be uncomfortable. IE "Shakes are YUCKY!" Boo hoo. -
Childish? How so? If you don't like the comments in this particular forum, then I suggest you move along.

What is your TRUE weight loss goal?
Babbs replied to LipstickLady's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just wanted to be able to look at a picture of myself and think "I don't look fat!" I'm almost there. Almost. -
Not feeling full-1 week post op today
Babbs replied to alipollard's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wait until you start more solid food. I felt the same way. I was like "Did the doctor even DO the surgery??" Then I had refried Beans with a little cheese. Boy oh boy did I feel it after a few bites! -
I tell pretty much everyone I want to tell. Of course, I keep it to myself in my professional life. I am open on Facebook about it, and I have received lots of support and encouragement. If anyone has said anything rude or ignorant about my choice to have the surgery, it hasn't been to my face. They know better It's a personal choice in who you choose to tell or not tell, and I respect those who choose to tell just a few or nobody at all. Different strokes, man!
-
That is a big goal of mine! I've been training for about 7 weeks now. Not quite sure when I'll be brave enough to actually run one yet. I suppose I should make a goal and just pick one and just do it! Congrats! You are an inspiration!

5 months post op and Stalling help!
Babbs replied to sleevedV's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Exercise seems good...are you eating enough? Maybe try upping your calories a little to compensate for the exercise. Try to stay away from bread, rice and potatoes for now. Get your carbs only from non starchy, green veggies. And DRINK YOUR WATER! Try to get at least 60oz. I know it's so hard, but it helps with weight loss. It really does. Plus you're exercising, so you need to stay hydrated. Try that and report back to us! -
You truly do work in mysterious ways....

Ah, er, Oh nothing, Oh Mighty One..... Dear Lipsticklady, Can you please use your magical powers to stop offending people with your practical yet mysteriously offensive advice? In this we pray, Amen.
