Maybe because people are proud of their weight loss? What's wrong with a little positive re enforcement from your fellow WLS peeps? I mean, I see what you're saying about some people having issues with modesty when they feel good about themselves, but jeez. Why poop on their parade? I really hope you get to the point in your weight loss that you feel good enough to share your success in pictures without fear of being judged by people like you. Good luck with your upcoming surgery.

Mio has a lemonade flavor that's pretty good, too.

Why would you want to drink a glass full of nothing but sugar? I'm 9 months out and haven't had lemonade. Empty calories. I'd rather use my calories on something nutritious.

What to eat. .......????
Babbs replied to danetteperez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Happy Anniversary!! I'm assuming you're still on soft food? Most restaurants have a great selection of Soups or even chili sometimes. I used to do a lot of Soup when I was as early out as you. Just take your time eating it, and enjoy the company -

You posted about having some wine several weeks after your surgery. If you are having trouble going "cold turkey" with alcohol, then I would suggest getting some professional help. Did you even READ some of the responses? It's not judgmental. It's sadness and concern for people who don't have enough damn self respect to adhere to doctors orders and do what you need to do to heal from the MAJOR SURGERY you had 7 weeks before. Why don't you let your surgeon know that you had some alcohol, eh? See how "judgmental" he would be with you. -
Afraid of the new me and losing who I am now...
Babbs replied to allyray's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It can be tough to deal with for sure. Even though I have been the size I am currently SEVERAL times in my life, I have noticed since my almost 70lb weight loss, I do get some "attention fatigue". I know when I'm going to see a client or friend I haven't seen since the loss, I have to deal with the "Wow! You look great! What did you do to lose the weight??" Now I know to those of you who are new to the journey, that may sound silly. But you will understand it in time. Don't get me wrong, it's motivating and fun to have your weight loss acknowledged and noticed, but when you're used to hiding in the shadows like you said, the sometimes unwanted attention gets old. On the other hand, I can't explain the amount of confidence you start to feel as the weight comes off. It really changes how you interact with others, and in turn I feel that others actually treat you better. It definitely is something that takes either professional help or just plain ol' moxy to deal with. It's part of the process that the doctors really never talk about for sure -
Artificial Sweeteners / Who uses what?
Babbs replied to Miss Mac's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I use Stevia, also. I prefer Splenda because Stevia does have a little bitterness to it, but I like the fact that it's natural. -
Good job! I knew it would happen!

Not "faults". CHOICES. As long as your choices aren't endangering your health, share away. We've all been there. But if you're drinking multiple alcoholic beverages weeks out from surgery, prepare to get your ass handed to you. By most of us AND your doctor. And if you feel that drinking and eating things you shouldn't be just weeks out from surgery is justifiable, then I SMH at YOU. -
@@JustWatchMe GREAT testimony! That's what it's all about!

@@sharonintx is right on the money. I have worked just as hard to get this weight off as I ever did before. I just have the added benefit of this tool to help me with it. Besides, I've lost weight a hundred times. It's keeping it off that I had trouble with. I believe with this surgery, I actually have a fighting chance of maintaining my weight this time. That being said, you do what you think is best for you, and don't listen to ANYBODY that hasn't had first hand experience with WLS. What do they know, anyway? If.you decided to be a race car driver, would you take advice from someone who's never driven a race car?

Am I doing it right? ...it has to come off...right? laughing at myself
Babbs replied to MissLiss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Patience, Grasshopper. It's not a race. You're not even a month out! Embrace your new lifestyle and it will come off. See my stats? I've lost 68lbs in almost 9 months. That's VERY slow by WLS standards. Sure I've been frustrated at times, but I just stick with the program, keep doing what I need to do, and now I'm 17lbs to goal. If it takes me another 9 months to get there, so be it. I'm so over stressing about it. -
Maybe I am atypical, but the sleeve didn't help with hunger
Babbs replied to chunkyloverlovesyou's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sometimes it's so hard to tell the difference between head hunger and real hunger. I can honestly say that I rarely feel real hunger. Most of the time it's just me wanting to eat something, and me pausing and asking myself if it's REAL hunger or all in my head.... -
@@jess9395 Damn you! Now I want a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup! That's it, I'm cheating.

Oh well, why didn't you say so!? In that case, carry on! *Rolls eyes* Posts like these is why I feel it should be MANDATORY for people to go through extensive psychotherapy before they have the surgery. -
Exercise! I know it sounds cliche, but it really does help with the stress. I have never gotten back from a nice walk or workout from the gym and said "I feel terrible! I wish I hadn't have done that!"

@@dema24 I know. It's really is scary to think about. I passed my 4 month mark and thought I was home free. I'd taken all my Vitamins, still was drinking a Protein Shake for Breakfast just to ensure I was meeting my Protein goals, and lo and behold, it started coming out anyway. Luckily, I have very thick hair, so only I and my hairdresser noticed. And it has already started growing back. I just don't want you to be blindsided when you do everything right and you still lose some hair. I really hope you don't. Keep us posted. I will be interested to know how going to your nutriologist may help with it.

I'm so sorry. That's tough. But I'm glad you see that you are ultimately better off without him. Work on you, and when you are ready, the right one will come along. I don't know how old you are, but you seem very mature with a good head on your shoulders. Time will heal your broken heart. Concentrate on you.

Had a sleeve 1 year ago! Still Haven't lost!
Babbs replied to sleevinIT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Do you have restriction? Are you following a high Protein, lower carb diet? Are you weighing and measuring your food? Are you mostly staying away from sweets? Are you exercising? If you answered "No" to one or more of these questions, then there is your answer. I've seen lots of people get back on track and turn things around, and you can too! Just get back to basics...protein first, no sugar, no complex carbs, lots of Water and move. When you keep yourself full on protein and water, it leaves little room for junk It's all about how bad you want it. -
5 years out and need to get back on track. Help
Babbs replied to CJFW's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm not at maintenance yet, but it sure sounds like to me you are on the right track again! I always appreciate posts like yours. They always make me realize that once I get to goal and then maintenance that the struggle just begins to stay accountable and diligent for the rest of our lives or the weight will slowly creep back up on us. You got this! Good luck! -
This is absolutely, positively INCORRECT. hair loss is the luck of the draw. Some get a little, some (very few) get none, but most get it. I've seen people getting 100 grams of Protein, take hand fulls of Vitamins a day, use Biotin shampoos and vitamins, and still experience hair loss. Unfortunately it's just one of the side effects of the surgery. You can't tell me 99% of the people that lose their hair are ALL getting poor nutrition? Bull hockey.

Good job for going to the support group and your loss!
