    I Love My Coffee

Just like @, I only gave it up for a couple weeks. I'm like you. I have to have my coffee! I weaned off slowly before surgery and by surgery time you're on pain meds anyway, so any headache from withdrawal you may have you don't notice Now I limit myself to 2 cups a day. No more, no less.
  2. Good info, but please do me a favor and don't record one of those in your car again. Makes me nervous for you. You were definitely distracted by the camera.

    "I've only lost XX lbs..."

Amen, sister! Can we just copy and paste your post into every "I've ONLY lost XX amount!" thread?
  4. There is nothing more dangerous from a WLS perspecrive than drinking empty calories. Lay off the wine. Only drink it occasionally or for special occasions. Work on getting your Protein and veggies instead. 45 pounds is fine for 6 months, but if you want to speed things up you know what you need to do. I suggest you take full advantage of this honeymoon period of weight loss before it's over. We all only have such a relatively small window of time where we have so much restriction and reduced hunger, it's a shame to piss it away with poor choices.

    A dream come true

My son in law is from England. Although my daughter has been over there several times, her dad and I have yet to go to meet his family. I think that's on the agenda for next year. Congratulations on all that you've accomplished! You should be proud

    VENT: Caught off guard

You know, your comment comes right at a time in my day where I'm just getting damn tired of the "anything goes" mentality of online forums and social media. People have decided that because they are hiding behind a keyboard, they can write disgusting, vile things about other human beings. It's really disheartening for me, and unfortunately, with the rise of the internet and social media, it's not going to change anytime soon. I'm really sorry for that person who thinks they can spew hateful insults to someone on an online review sight. And I'm more sorry for you and others who have to see it. Just know that you are much better than that low life who feels they need to degrade and name call to get their point across. I know it hurts. We've all been there. And understand.
  8. Being put on high blood pressure medication did it for me. My mom had died a couple years earlier from heart related issues due to high blood pressure. It scared me. I quit smoking, and had the surgery a couple of months later. Today I ran almost 3 miles.
  9. @@Edavidson You're doing great! And I get hungry too. The biggest challenge I face is deciding if it's real hunger, stomach acid, or just plain wanting to eat for the heck of it. I honestly think I rarely feel "real" hunger.

Any Couch To 5 k people?

I think my BMI was 29 when I started.

Any Couch To 5 k people?

I informally did the C25k program without really realizing it about 3 months ago. I would just start jogging on the treadmill to see how far I could go, and each time I tried I would push myself to go "one more minute" longer. I am now up to 35 minutes and my all time high of 2.85 miles! I'm hoping I will be able to run the 3.1 miles in the next week. Then I will try to increase my speed. I'm hoping to run a 5K by the time I hit my 1 year surgiversary. I'm almost 48 years old,and have HATED running my whole life. Now that I've seen what I can do, I love it! I'm very proud of what I've accomplished

    Not Weighing

I say it is entirely how you react to seeing the fluctuations. If you understand that they are a normal part of the process and don't let it ruin your whole day, then by all means, weigh every day. I know I was that way in the beginning. If I stalled, saw a gain, it literally would ruin my whole day. Sick, I know, but that's just how it was for me (and I know many others feel that way, also). So I stuck to weighing only once a week, every Monday morning after a tinkle and completely nekkid. Around 6 months post op, I was so over freaking out over the scale, so I started weighing daily. I found it did help me do the needed adjustments to get things going if I was stalled, or maybe cut back on salt if I gained a couple pounds and I knew it wasn't from eating too much. I don't let the ups and downs and maybe back ups freak me out anymore, because I really know it's nothing I'm doing to cause it (most of the time ) Just normal fluctuations we all have.

Post op day 3 and struggling

I did the same thing, lol! Except he was eating an Egg Mcmuffin and I was having broth.
  14. First off, the lower starting weight is a factor for sure. We are going to need more info to help. Are you approximating or actually tracking your calorie, Protein, and carb intake? How much are you running? Depending on that, you may not be eating enough calories to compensate for the exercise. I know that happened to me. Once I upped my calories to compensate for running 2 miles every other day, the weight started coming off again.

Stalling at 3 weeks Am i alone?

@@Katie K Kitt Oh my goodness, EVERYTHING you are feeling is so normal! Each day and week that goes by you are going to feel so much more human. And then you see the scale moving and it makes you feel even better Hang in there! PS You're purty
  16. Like Miss Mac, I had mine removed in an emergency surgery situation about 4 years before my sleeve. I would say just have it removed. Once the gall bladder starts getting "sick", it usually gets worse and not better. Easy surgery. In my opinion, it was less painful than the sleeve. And yes, you may have the squirts for a few months after if you indulge in more fatty foods, but you won't be doing that anyway, right? Oh, and let me add (and this is TERRIBLE), I lost 10 pounds post surgery

    Two week stall?

Here is a good article about why stalls happen: http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php

    Two week stall?

What has your NUT told you? As early out as you are I don't think it's possible to get that much in, but just work your way up to it. It's like a full time job the first couple of months making sure you're getting your protein and water in! My guidelines (as many others) was 64oz of water and 60-90 grams of protein. Just do the very best you can!

Stalling at 3 weeks Am i alone?

@@nikireed4_22 You just has major surgery. I remember it took me a good 5 weeks to start feeling like myself. This will all be a distant memory soon. As far as the stall, it's the classic 3 week stall 99% of people go through. There are many, many threads on this forum about it if you want to read up why it happens. @@Katie K Kitt It is frustrating isn't it?? But it won't last. You will lose weight, I promise. Just keep in mind that those of you who don't have a ton of weight to lose will find that the weight loss will be slower. Just the way it is. Work on meeting your fluid and protein goals these first several weeks. Staying hydrated and getting enough protien for healing is what's most important right now, not the number on the scale.

    Do not compare me..!

I honestly commend you for not punching her square in the uterus. Who the hell do some people think they are??
  22. Hi, Same. I had lost 50lbs at my 5 month mark. Now I'm at 9 months and have lost an additional 19 more. And yes, I consider myself on the slow side (weight loss, not mentally ). I am a little on the older side, but other than that I really don't know why I lose a little slower than some. I follow my plan really well and exercise. After a semi meltdown about it at my 6 month mark after a long 5 week stall, I decided I was so over stressing about it anymore. I was losing, felt and looked great, and that's all that mattered. I realized it wasn't some kind of race to get to the finish line and be done. It's a whole lifestyle change that will never end, even at the goal line. I'm enjoying the journey, keep doing what I need to do, and I am now 16 pounds away from goal. If it takes me another 9 months to get there, so be it
  23. I don't know if you noticed, but they said they are only a month out. There's no way they can get 1000 calories yet
  24. How do you expect to afford to eat post-op? This is exactly how you will be eating for the rest of your life post-op. You won't have room for starches and carbs when you need 100 grams of Protein a day and can only eat a few ounces of food at a time. Yes, and this too.
  25. You may as well get used to eating low carb/high Protein now. Some feel that you don't need to cut out complex carbs completely post surgery, but I feel continuing to eat complex carbs is a slippery slope with a lot of obese people. It leads to cravings for more carbs and sugar because the way they are broken down. Personally I stay away from them 95% of the time, and I find I don't get the cravings for sweets as bad. When I do indulge? Yeah, it takes days of detoxing and fighting the cravings, so I prefer not to put myself through that. The only carbs i get now are from fruits and veggies. Luckily post op you will be eating a lot less, so your food bills should go down a little
