    Goal Weight Question

Nope. I don't think so. I'm barely 5'5, 48 and shooting for 150. I may try to stretch it to 140-145 but we shall see

    Beginning Cardio

You're not eating enough to do 30-35 minutes of cardio, lol. You would collapse! Just like what everyone said, start slow. I walked my doggy every night for 30 minutes until about 6 months, then I joined a gym when my weight loss slowed down. You have lots of time to work up to it

I am a big fat phony failure

Hey, we all gotta do what we gotta do.....
  4. Yeah,cranberry/vodkas work well for me too. And Bloody Mary's. Although the acidity in the tomato juice may be a problem for some. It wasn't for me.

    OATMEAL

Now that I'm close to goal, I have started eating a few more carbs, including oatmeal for breakfast once in a while. I'm having fun with some overnight oats recipes!

    My naked kitty! Pics inside!

Wanna rub it?? Nah. I haven't rubbed naked kitties since college....

    My naked kitty! Pics inside!

    It's so cute and smooth!
  8. @@Djmohr I could have EASILY eaten a whole pie in one day. I actually probably have several times. I was the ultimate "picker" as my mom used to call it. I would keep going back and pick pick pick food until it was gone. I'm noticing I'm starting to pick again to a certain extent. I'm going to have to be mindful of that....
  9. @@perk4756 Good job! Such a huge accomplishment! I too quit a couple months before surgery after smoking for almost 25 years. I honestly think I'm more proud of quitting smoking than I am the surgery
  10. I love the Morning Star burgers! I eat them regularly. I think I was using those condiments in moderation pretty early out after I started solid foods. 1 patty for me is the perfect portion. You probably won't be able to finish half at 3 weeks out

    Resume omeprazole anyone?

I'm 9 months out and still on it for GERD. Probably will be for a long time.
  12. You're always going to find people that can't get past the stigma of WLS. Even somewhat intelligent people like doctors. Yes, it's a tool. Just like I need a hammer to pound a nail into the wall to hang a picture as opposed to using my hand, WLS was the correct tool I needed to make the job work for me. Just like the hammer is the correct tool to pound the nail. I pounded that nail with my hand for 30 years, but just couldn't quite get the job done. Now I am 15 pounds away from goal, and now I at least have fighting chance of keeping it off this time with the tool I know I needed. If you use it the way it's intended, you will get the results you want. Like getting that picture of your new healthy, slimmer self hung on your wall by using a hammer
  13. I was actually starving the other day and stuck in my car, so I stopped at Taco Bell and actually ordered a bean burrito becuase I could hold it and eat it as I was driving as opposed to a cup of their pinto's and cheese. I ate a couple bites with the tortilla,.and ended up sucking the beans out of the rest. I would say I ate 3/4 of it. I'm 9 months out. I was actually surprised I could eat as much of it as I could....

    Regrets?

Most people do at your stage. The first month or so pretty much sucks. Each day, week, and month that go by you will start to feel more "normal" again and on top of it you will have lost weight, so the regret goes away Are you on a PPI for your heartburn? I was on major PPI's and had to be on full liquids for 6 weeks after surgery becuase of severe GERD. 9 months later, I'm still on a PPI but don't get heartburn too often anymore. I have more of a regurgitation problem when I eat too much. I really hope they can help you with your heartburn. And yes, I had major regrets being on liquids for 6 weeks and problems with GERD. I just wanted to EAT SOMETHING!!

    These last 25 pounds...

I hear ya! I was hoping to lose this last 15 by August but I just don't think it's going to happen when I'm only losing 2-6 pounds a month at this point. But all we can do is keep on truckin!
  16. Completely normal. Your tiny sleeve is very swollen right now, so you just don't have much room until the swelling eventually goes down in a couple months or so. You will notice an increase in how much you can eat and drink as time goes by. Just do the very best you can to meet your fluid and protein goals Keep us posted on how you're doing!
  17. Decaf and tea were on my approved list of liquids, also. I've drank full caffinated coffee since 2 weeks post surgery. I do limit to 2 small cups a day.
  18. It's head hunger and it sucks. Just hang tough. Try to find something, anything on your plan that will satiate you. I found getting really good gourmet soups (no big chunks of course) helped satisfy the head hunger. Also, what @@Piesanders said. Keep yourself busy! This too shall pass

    Permission to Fail

And then they call you perfect and judgemental if you dare tell it like it is.....go figure. I've said it before and I'll say it again....I think it should be mandatory to have at least 6 months of counseling or psycotherapy before having WLS. So many just don't seem prepared for the needed changes in lifestyle and attitude for success. It really makes me sad sometimes.

    Longest stall?

6 weeks at 6 months out. This is probably your first (The Dreaded Three Week Stall that most get) and it won't be your last. Just keep getting your protien, fluids, stay low carb and move a little and it will pass. Stalls still suck, though
  21. Just chew, chew, chew until it's pureed consistency. I know I was allowed pureed or soft meats in the soft food phase. I usually don't advise going against your specific surgeons orders, but no meat seems odd to me. Usually the soft food phase is nothing but meat and fish (as long as it's pureed and/or VERY soft.
  22. The first time I ran a mile. Then the first time I ran 2 miles. Then last week I ran almost 3 miles I am someone who HATED exercise. LOATHED it. In the past I had lost weight doing only some swimming and a little bit of walking. Each time I run, it just proves to me that if you put your mind to it, you really can accomplish anything. I'm hoping to run a 5K by my 1 year surgiversary.
  23. Usually only the first few months after the surgery. I'm 9 months out, and I can drink 16 oz of Water in about 5-10 minutes now. Before it would take me an hour or more. Weeks after surgery? It takes half the day lol. For some reason, I still have trouble with really cold water. It goes down easier at room temperature or hot (like with tea or lemon).
  24. What happens after a year to a year and a half? Do you turn into a pumpkin or something? I'm a slow loser too. And I do understand that there is this magical "honeymoon" period where the weight comes off more easily. If that's the case, my honeymoon lasted for about 4 months. Beyond that, like you, I've had to fight for every pound lost. I also know that as time goes on, my hunger may return and restriction may be less. But am I going to let that stop me from reaching goal and then maintenance? No! We can go as far as we want to go with this, whether we are beyond the honeymoon period or not. It's all up to us how bad we want it. Just like it is now
  25. I haven't vomited one time post surgery either. The only pain I had was right side pain when I woke up where I'm sure they cut and removed the partial stomach. Nothing that some good pain meds didn't take care of I would also advise against saying things like "Pre op diet is ideal, but not mandatory"....if your doctor recommends a pre op diet, there's a reason. I just don't want you to discourage anybody to not follow their own doctors orders. Slippery slope. I always find the Mexico surgical experiences so interesting. Not only does it seem that most get top notch care, I think you guys that go are troopers for basically having to turn around and either fly or drive home after major surgery. I wouldn't want to do it! Good luck to you! Keep us posted on your weight loss!
