Awww don't knock Richard Simmons! I've been known to sweat to the oldies a time or two....he does a lot of good for severely obese people.

How much time you got?? If I were to pick one, I would say the Cabbage Diet. Not only does it smell like arse when you cook it, it makes your arse smell too! Between dealing with the constant liquid diarrhea and the horrible gas, who WOULDN'T want to try this diet?

Sleeves, as a rule, don't stretch. As time goes by and the swelling goes down, you are able to eat more. When I say "more", I mean from a few tablespoons of food up to a cup or so (down the road). That's not a lot right? So how do people still gain weight? Although at 10 months out, I may only be able to eat 1 slice of pizza in a sitting (if that), throughout the day, I can graze on that pizza and probably could finish the whole thing. I have now eaten a whole pizza (or cake, or pie, or bag of chips). Get the picture? The sleeve is not a magic pill that makes you not want to eat. It just restricts the AMOUNT you can eat in a short period of time. You are still going to have to exercise some self control and will power. It's just a tool that helps with that. Like the saying goes, they operate on your stomach, not.your mind.

Tummy sleeper here, too! I put a pillow between my legs and layed as much on my side/stomach as I could. It was only for a couple weeks.

Vitamin overdoses and underdoses
Babbs replied to CanyonBaby's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
FYI....most people have very low Vitamin D. Especially in states that tend to have gloomy winters. Very low Vitamin D has always been an issue for me,.so they have me on mega doses -
You're adorable

Will we have to low carb for ever?
Babbs replied to ladivaluz806's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I personally think as you're losing weight, you should stay away from carbs in the form of bread, rice, potatoes--anything white basically--as much as you can. Get most of them from fruits and veggies. I think the closer you get to goal and onto maintenance, I think it's actually good to incorporate whole grains into your diet and introduce carbs slowly...but still keep them to a minimum and no white stuff. In my case, I get terrible cravings for sugar and more carbs when I eat them (especially the white stuff) so I really keep them to a minimum and will the rest of my life. -
What healthy protein snacks do you have?
Babbs replied to VDB's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Maybe some soft jerky if you chew it up really well? Jerky is pretty much a staple snack for me. -
Needed - swift kick in the ass[ets]
Babbs replied to Swampdoggie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awwwww @@Swampdoggie! You're one of my favorite peeps! You've got this! You know what needs to be done...now just DO IT! I know it's hard when you're having some health issues. But think how badly you're going to feel if you undo everything you've worked so hard for? At the least, before your gall bladder surgery, try to maintain. (When is your surgery by the way?) Follow your rules, get out and get some sunshine, dammit! Otherwise, I will have to travel to Maryland all the way from Idaho and kick your butt! -
Started the five day pouch test today!

Hello, I am new to this site. ????
Babbs replied to tiarowley's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I dunno, I personally didn't need most of that stuff on the list. My phone, a pair of slippers and some sweats so my butt didn't hang out of my gown while I was walking the halls seemed to be all I needed. -
I bought a shirt on the regular side....
Babbs replied to Micdruss's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
And it's super cute, too! -
Old habits die hard, lol. I suggest you weigh and measure everything you eat, and when it's gone STOP. Just because you can eat more, doesn't mean you should.

Husband treats me like a child Re: food

Talk to him. Tell him while you understand his concern, you got this. That should be the end of it. -
Cigna questions-frantic
Babbs replied to xrayyoung22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Cigna and they never asked for that. As a matter of fact, once my 3 month appointments, psych eval and NUT visits were complete and submitted, I was approved within days. After hearing horror stories, I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to get approved. I would make her submit without that and see what happens. I think she is incorrect. -
First pureed meal and your favorites
Babbs replied to nrg33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ricatta Bake! Like lasagna without the noodles. It made me feel like I was eating "real" food for the first time. I'm on my phone, so I can't paste the link, but Google The World According to Eggface Ricatta Bake. She has some other ideas for the pureed stage that are pretty good, also. -
What you're feeling is totally and completely normal. I think every last one of us feared failure. After all, most of us have failed at either losing weight or keeping it off multiple times. The reason WLS seems to work more often than not is that the surgery is a tool that is a much needed kick in the butt for a lot of us. Not only having to resort to pretty drastic measures to control our eating, but once you've got the healthy lifestyle down and start feeling and looking great, it's awesome motivation to just keep it up. But it still takes a lot if will power and work, both physical and emotional. If you're up to the task, you can take it as far as you want with the weight loss. Ultimately, it's still all up to you. But you're going to have this amazing tool to help you become successful!

I call those "whooshes". You aren't losing for a while, or losing your normal 1-2 lbs a week, then WHOOSH. 4 pounds It happens. Although I haven't had a whoosh in a while

Has anyone had mashed potatoes 2 weeks postop?
Babbs replied to nickbel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you still on full liquids? Can you wait to call your surgeon on Monday and ask? I know they will give you the go ahead a lot of times if you ask. What about soup? Are you allowed that yet? Maybe it will satiate you until you are allowed to move on to the next stage. -
Of course! Fruit, peanut butter, chocolate on occasion. Heck I even had a couple bites of chocolate cake for my birthday the other day. A couple bites was all I needed. Just choose your sweets wisely and in moderation. That's the key.

What @@ShrinkingPeach said. Sounds like you are under a lot of stress taking care of your husband (I'm so sorry, by the way). That may have manifested into full on depression. Lack of appetite is certainly a symptom. I would love to see you go to a counselor or some kind of support group to work through it. Also, have you seen a doctor about it? Just to rule out anything physical going on? Hang in there. We all can empathize and support you, but it sounds like you may need a little more help in the form of a professional. Whether it be a doctor or therapist.
