    Occasional indulging!

As I'm getting closer to goal, I just can't bring myself to splurge right now. I just don't feel like spending another week working off the half a pound or pound I may gain from it. I want to keep moving forward, not backwards. I figure once I get to goal, and am allowed a few more calories to maintain, then I can experiment with little splurges here and there. But they will still be tracked and accounted for in my daily calories. Jeez, what a bore I've become. Lol.

    Have any of you .....

See this picture? See the line of staples going along the whole side of your stomach? THAT'S why you feel the way you do when you eat food too soon. Stick to your liquids until your surgeon okay's you to move forward. I know it's hard, but your health depends on it. I found that gourmet Soups (with no chunks) helped me through the full liquid stage a little. And I was on full liquids for SIX WEEKS. If I can do that, you can do this. Hang in there, and stick to your surgeons orders!
  3. What was your starting BMI? Usually if it's lower, the slower the weight loss. Are you tracking and measuring your food? Making sure you're eating protien first? Keeping carbs and sugar low? Getting 64oz of fluids?

Share your thoughts about head hunger!

Head hunger is more of an emotional response as opposed to a physiological one. It's more of an "I WANT that" instead if an "I need that". I can honestly say since my surgery, I very rarely feel true hunger. I spend a lot of time thinking "Is this real, or do I want to eat because I'm bored/happy/sad/tired/stressed etc..." It's probably been one of the greatest struggles I face since surgery. You're so used to giving in to it, you really have to make a conscious effort to fight it. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. As long as winning most of the time, I'm doing pretty darn good

    Bread

Sure. Just be warned it MAY slow your weight loss down. I find carbs to be a slippery slope for me. When I eat them, I crave more and also sweets. That's why I choose to mostly stay away from them. At almost 10 months out, and 12lbs from goal, I just recently started incorporating a few into my diet again in the form of whole grains. But then I suffer the cravings for a couple days until I "detox" again. But that's just me. I also believe if you are early out from surgery, you should be more worried about Protein, not carbs.

    Big Daddy Burger!

'Merica. I also just saw a Carl's Jr commercial for a burger with a hot dog and potato chips on it. No wonder obesity is an epidemic.
  7. So glad you're doing so well! Keep working on those fluids!

I'm eating like a normal person

Isn't it GREAT?? Sometimes when I look around at the amounts that other people are eating, I am astounded that I used to eat that much and then some. It just goes to show how little food we need to actually survive and thrive on!

What the heck is waist training?

    Need to lose 50 pounds

Usually the less you have to lose, the slower the weight loss. I have like 85-90 to lose, and it's taken me 9 months to lose 73lbs. I know I had lost 50 at 5 months. I'm a little on the slower side for whatever reason. So it may take you a little more time , or it may not. Too many variables to say for sure. Good Luck with your upcoming surgery!

    Any Regrets?

Most have regrets very soon after surgery. You're dealing with some pain (honestly not too much), you miss food, your tummy feels funny, you're tired, it's a damn full time job the first few weeks just to get your fluids and protien in....I could go on. Fast forward a couple months. You are starting to feel normal, you can ALMOST eat everything again, and you've lost weight! And more than likely you have been taken off your meds for diabetes and high blood pressure. Score! Fast forward a year or 2. You have lost so much weight that people don't recognize you! You actually exercise, and you love it! ( Well, maybe) You've had to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe, and you look and feel better than you have in years! Except for some much needed restriction that helps you to not overeat, especially in situations where you're tempted, you feel completely normal. And you LOOK normal. You're finally not the fattest person in the room. You FINALLY feel in control. What's there to regret??

    I Just Want To Cry

Awww vent away! We all understand! Sounds like you got a lot going on. I do too right now. I have been FIGHTING so hard this week the urge to just EAT out of sheer stress. I can honestly say it's the first time it's been this bad since surgery. Don't beat yourself up. I used to have a Weight Watchers coach thay used to say "If you're unloading the dishwasher, and you break a dish, you don't break the rest of them, do you? No, you just pick up the broken dish and move on" Acknowledge your little slip, and move on. Just continue your otherwise healthy habits. Try to find another way to manage your stress...take those naughty dogs for a nice long walk so they are too tired to fight! Read, listen to music, sit in the sun...find something that will recharge you. The most important thing to remember? This too, shall pass.

    Anyone else aggravated?

Girlfriend, you're preaching to the choir! I've only been on this site a little over a year, and I get tired of it. But I try so hard to be supportive in a "tough love" kind of way. Needless to say, not everyone appreciates my approach I have gotten to the point of not responding to those UNLESS they are fresh out of surgery and are doing something that can physically hurt them. Once they've healed up, it's not up to me to brow beat someone to make correct choices so they are successful. It's up to them and them alone. I can support, guide and empathize. In the mean time, I intend to get to my goal weight by choosing to do the right things. Just like they can choose to do the same
  15. Well, you're one of the lucky ones. Usually the sleeve makes it worse. It did in my case. I actually was on full liquids for 6 weeks after surgery because of it. I'm still taking a PPI, but at almost 10 months out, it seems to be improving. I sure hope so, especially after the new study that just came out about PPI's. I really would like to stop taking them someday....
  16. Awwww friend, I'm so sorry that happened to you! How mortifying! I'm really going through a "I really dislike people" stage right now, and people like that are the reason why. Seriously, fuck that guy.
  17. Babbs

    What am I doing wrong?

Are you taking a PPI for stomach acid? Sometimes that can mimic hunger. I know I ate every 2-3 hours the first few months after surgery....so just eat if you're hungry again. Also, make sure you're sipping on your fluids. Those also help to keep you fuller. You're doing just fine. Amazing, in fact. Keep up the good work!
  18. Awesome job! We started at the same weight! You really look amazing!...isn't it a great feeling?
  19. LOL! I know you weren't I just have a soft spot for that crazy guy!
  20. If you want to be thin, you eat less. If you want to be healthy, you exercise. If you want to be thin and healthy, you eat less and exercise.

    newbie :)

@ I don't think @@ShrinkingPeach has lost 50lbs in 3 weeks. And I also hope you don't expect to, either. It's not realistic. To put it in perspective, I lost 50 pounds at 5 months. I just don't want you to get the wrong idea. Your weight loss will slow down a little to a more realistic pace. Just so you know
  22. Yup. Almost 10 months out and I still follow the rule. Was hard to get used to, but you do. I don't know about food "coming back up" is the reason. Fluids will make you feel fuller and also flush food out of your sleeve faster, causing hunger sooner than it should. At least, that's my understanding of it.
  23. Hubby had the bypass 9 years ago, I had the sleeve almost 10 months ago. He took 2 weeks off, I pretty much worked the week I was home (Realtor). Nothing major, just a final walkthrough and a couple of closings. But I felt good. Tired, but good. FYI hubby has kept most of the weight off with the bypass, aside from a 30lb gain after quitting smoking that he's since lost. Also, 9 years later, he is very B12 deficient and has to take shots. The Vitamin malabsorbtion issue was why I chose the sleeve.
