    I'm 21 and freaking out!

@@PennStater920 Well, that's a much different question than "ZOMYGOD I JUST WANNA DRINK WITH ALL MY FRIENDS AND I'M FREAKING OUT AND I DON'T WANT TO GIVE UP MY SOCIAL LIFE FOR THIS SURGERY111!!!" What kind of responses were you expecting?? Yes, you can drink when you are far enough out. But keep in mind that drinking is nothing but empty calories. So if you overdo it, it will hinder your weight loss efforts. Good Luck.

Do me a favor. Cancel the surgery. You're clearly not ready. Revisit again when you are.

Ok. WTF am I doing wrong?

You're getting 1200 calories at 8 weeks out?? I'm 10 months out and am getting 1200 calories!? You should only be getting around 800 calories at 8 weeks out. You're eating too many calories. Also, lay off the carbs. If you want to lose, you need to only get your carbs from dairy, fruits and veggies right now. Stay away from the cupcakes and pretzels. Snack on cheese sticks and nuts instead. Keep your diet clean. meat and veggies with every meal and lots of Water. Track your calories on Myfitnesspal. You'll have plenty of time to increase your calories and incorporate carbs the closer you get to goal. Good luck! Don't get discouraged, just be proactive!

    Funny Story

LOL! Thanks for the well needed laugh tonight!

    I miss real food

I was having issues with severe GERD after surgery. Regurgitating everything I drank or ate. My surgeon kept keeping me on full liquids week after week, not allowing me to progress to soft or pureed foods. At about week 5, after he told me he wanted me on liquids again for 1 more week, I burst into tears in front of him. After he tried to comfort me, I yelled "YOU BE ON LIQUIDS FOR 6 FUCKING WEEKS AND SEE HOW YOU LIKE IT" It wasn't pretty. I totally feel your pain.
  6. @@sadavis52111 You can still go out to eat with your hubby every 2 weeks after surgery. Why can't you? You just choose healthier low carb options and take the rest home for lunch (and even dinner too) the next day. The world doesn't stop just becuase you had WLS. You just learn a new way of eating.
  7. I drink 2 cups of coffee a day. Sometimes I will also treat myself to an iced sugar free almond milk caramel drink thing from our local coffee place. Yum. I'm not much of a drinker, but I will drink on a special occasion. As a rule, I don't like to drink becuase of the empty calories. Anyhoo, good or bad, I loves me some caffine!

    Anyone else aggravated?

I agree. It's pretty disgraceful that any surgeon would perform surgery on a patient without ensuring they are FULLY informed about all of the steps they will have to take post-op to ensure the best possibly recovery and outcome. It reflects badly on the surgeons if their patients fail, so you would think it would be in their best interests to do everything in their power to help them succeed! I highly doubt that those patients didn't receive the proper information about the procedure from their physicians. People come here and ask those types of questions because they want to see if anyone else broke their diets, and what we're the consequences to their health; they knew better than to ask a physician about cheating. I wouldn't be so quick to feel as though a person should lose their license because a patient pretended that they weren't informed. I concur! I witnessed it first hand. I was sitting and waiting for my last appointment before surgery, and another woman had come in for her pre op appointment also. The receptionist handed her the paper with the Vitamins the NUT had recommended we purchase before surgery, and she had NO IDEA what it was. I mean, really? I heard her say the name and ask what it was and knew right away what they were. And I know she'd met with the NUT. It is a requirement for that surgeon. Some people either don't pay attention very well or just don't care. Oh well. C'est la vie.
  9. @@amazon Isn't it funny how we notice the huge amounts of food that people eat now? It's so funny how little food we actually need to live and even thrive. If most people only realized that. Including me pre surgery. But I would have thought I was starving to death
  10. @@drmeow You realize you need to "show him up" now, right?

    Plateau at 2 weeks?

It's completely normal. Happens around 3 weeks to 99% of us. Do a search for the "Dreaded 3 Week Stall" in the search engine for this site. Keep getting your fluids and protein and it will pass Take it a little easy on the excersising. You can't eat enough calories yet to compensate for it.
  12. @@Miss Mac There's always a difficult one in the crowd No, seriously. Mine and many others have high blood pressure just from the stress of being overweight, so WLS helps with that for sure. But if yours is hereditary or from some other medical condition like Miss Mac, you may not be able to be taken off so soon like she said. Just depends.
  13. I said to my family doctor "I have been struggling with my weight for a long time. I really would like to get healthy, and I feel WLS may be a great opportunity for me to finally do that. Will you help me out if I choose to pursue it?" She was great. She did say that she wanted me to understnad that it wasn't a quick fix, and I would still have to do the hard work to get the results I wanted. And she was right
  14. At almost 10 months out, I still can't eat very much, but much more than at 3 or 4 months out. So I would say my portions are still under what a normal person would eat. Even a skinny one. The difference also is WHAT I choose to eat. I used to worry what people thought about how much (or in our case how little) I was eating. Truth is, nobody paid attention or even cared. Now I just do my thing and go about my business
  15. Yes, about 3 weeks for me, also.

You are beautiful Our stats are pretty similar, too! Great job!
  17. Here, read this. This explains why it happens: http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php
  18. WOW! Good for you for being dedicated and sticking with it! I truly believe after going through all of that to have the surgery, you will be successful! Honestly, I think your "cleanse" will be either the 2 week pre op liquid diet your surgeon will put you on or even the couple days before on just Clear liquids. No need to do an actual cleanse. Good Luck to you on your upcoming surgery! You worked hard for it!
  19. @ That is such an interesting story and point! And so true!
  20. @@Sara51692 Oh, there are lots of us who aren't sticklers for tracking (some don't track at all) who have had success There are the sticklers who have also had great success. VSGAnn comes to mind. She's a stickler, and has been at goal already long before her year and actually keeps losing. So maybe it's working TOO well for her? I think ultimately it's all about accountability. Whether you track or not.

    Scared Skinny?

I would honestly worry if you weren't nervous. Who isn't nervous with a major life change?
  22. That is why I have a problem with MyfitnessPal. I'm kind of an all or nothing person, and if I can't do it RIGHT, I don't want to do it at all. So I track off and on. Off when I'm actually losing, and on when I've hit a stall and need to get things going again or maybe tweak some things. That's when I will break out the measuring cups and spoons and use them at home but not at restaurants. I just can't bring myself to bring them out at a restaurant. So between not finding the accurate food counts, and not bringing measuring utensils with me out, I guesstimate quite a bit. But I must be close enough, because my weight loss, aside from a few stalls, has been pretty steady most of the time. Slow, but steady.
  23. You look like a normal, healthy weight to me. I've told this story before, and I'll tell it again. I'm not there yet, but my husband who had RNY almost 9 years ago was complaining to his surgeon about this very same subject. He went from 300lbs down to about 170lbs. He was getting all the "You look like you have AIDS, Cancer, etc.." and the "You're too skinny! Put on some weight!" comments. His surgeon shrugged his shoulders and said "There are so many overweight and obese people these days, nobody even knows what a normal, healthy weight looks like anymore". Made sense to me.
