Is my surgeon too easy-going and liberal?
Babbs replied to Sara51692's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Every surgeon is different. A month is about right to start solid foods, just take it easy. Soft protien like fish and chicken are good to start with. I would not try salad or uncooked veggies quite yet. Like he said, just try new things and see how your tummy does. It's hit and miss sometimes at first. I still disagree about the amount of calories he said you should be eating. But you know that -
Yes, go for berries. Less sugar overall. And you're in the perfect time of year for them!

You've changed since you had the surgery
Babbs replied to leag78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It's jealousy. Plain and simple. Hopefully you will inspire him to do something about his weight. Haters gonna hate. -
I needed my Jammie pants so my butt didn't hang out of my gown while I was walking, slippers and my phone. That's it.

Tired of my life like this

8 weeks since surgery and I think I am flunking this test!
Babbs replied to erenee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@hockeyfan7 Wow. Is salad and "regular" food on your plan already? I mean, even if you can eat it, doesn't mean you should....your sleeve is still healing! That's why they recommend liquids and soft foods the first few weeks to a month basically, to let the stomach heal up. -
I saw November and thought she had surgery at least 6 MONTHS ago!

@@jane13 You don't have to tell them how many pounds lost if you don't want. I got those comments, too. I think another reason people didn't notice is because I was on the slow side too. I had lost like 50 some at 6 months, so that was a little on the slower side. You just gotta keep at it. Patience, persistence, resilience!

How many calories are you getting?

I love this site. There sure are a lot of people that know what they are talking about I don't think I could have done this without it. -
Dealing with ongoing medical conditions
Babbs replied to Laydee_G's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
And I respect that But I'm telling you, best thing I ever did, lol. Well, besides the sleeve -
Like Jamie, people have seen me so many times in various stages of weight loss, I rarely got comments. Until recently. It seems the 70lb number for me was the magic number, because finally people who haven't seen me for a while now act blown away instead of thinking somehow I look different, but can't put their finger on it, lol. Plus I haven't been this size for about 10 years, so that helps

Dealing with ongoing medical conditions

Why not just get a hysterectomy? I had fibroids, too, so I had a full hysterectomy 5 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did! The surgery is pretty easy, too. No more periods! YAY -
hungry but can't make myself eat
Babbs replied to Bethson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Butterflyhigh I'm glad you said you still go through it at 12 months out. I know it's really normal early out, but recently I've been going through it at 10 months out. For the past couple weeks, food has not been appealing, and I have to force myself to eat. And I'm doing the bite here and bite there thing too. It's really annoying, and I hope it passes. Probably not a coincidence too that I've been in kind of a stall the last couple weeks. I'm just not eating enough! -
What you are talking about is the Pannus. I have one, too. Some insurances actually cover panni surgery! You should check if yours does. I say go for it!

Slow and steady turtle here!
Babbs replied to FrankyG's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was still at 50 some pounds at 6 months out, so I don't think you're that slow You have a good attitude about it. Sure, we can't help compare ourselves to others sometimes and get frustrated, but we know we will get there! Took me a long time to stop stressing over it and just accept the fact that it's not going to just fall off me. I just practice patience, persistence, and resilience. And now I'm only 11 pounds to goal. And happy and healthy -

How many calories are you getting?
Babbs replied to Sara51692's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, and I agree with @@Inner Surfer Girl. If 700 calories helps you meet your protien goals, then stick with that. Protien and fluids kind of trump calories early out. -
What does your surgeon say? Do you have some kind of pre op diet?

How many calories are you getting?
Babbs replied to Sara51692's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will not be able to get even close to 1000 calories for a while. What you are getting now seems right on par. Here's kind of a rule of thumb: 1-5 weeks-400-500 calories 6-8 weeks-600-800 calories 8 weeks and beyond-800-1000 calories Of course, your miliage may vary. I didn't start eating 1000 calories until about 6 months out. At 10 months, I am at 1200. Probably could eat a few more calories because of exercise, but I struggle even getting 1200 sometimes. -

Post op Smoking & Cheating. HELP!
Babbs replied to clopezrogina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@clopezrogina I'm going to put your mind at ease a little. My surgeon doesn't even do a liver shrinking diet. Just Clear Liquids the day before, and nothing past midnight. That doesn't mean you can ignore your particular surgeons advice to follow your diet. But I just thought that tid bit of info would make you feel a little better -
For those of saying you "only" lost 14lbs since June 4th....please. Just.....stop. I lost 17 lbs the first month. I am 10 months out today, and I am currently 11 pounds to goal. Am I a failure to you becuase I "only" lost 17lbs the first month? I really don't know how much you were expecting to lose in a matter of a couple weeks, but beleive me, you're doing just fine.

Post op Smoking & Cheating. HELP!
Babbs replied to clopezrogina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's so hard trying to quit smoking and not being able to eat what you want at the same time. I was doing my 3 month doctor supervised diet while I was trying to quit. I used the vape. I just tapered down until I had no nicotine at all. Then just stopped. You should try buying a vapor cig with no nicotine just so you have something to do with your hands instead of wanting to eat. Oh, and I still managed to lose 5lbs in the 3 months. Not a lot, but darn it, I did it! It wasn't easy! Good luck to you! -
Hi! I'm new to this but I'm ready for this!
Babbs replied to Running2theSleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome! We've all been there, and know exactly how you're feeling. Having this surgery is literally blood, sweat, and tears, but it really is worth it if you are willing to do the work. Good luck on the process and keep us posted! -
That's the problem. It ALWAYS increases the work load of those of us who actually CARE. And those type of employees are sneaky. They know the ways around not doing their work and doing just enough to not get fired. They also know whose asses to kiss. I've been in the workforce for over 30 years. I've seen it hundreds of times.
