  1. Of course it does! Between eating, drinking, additional water, clothing....you name it. That's why I only weigh first thing in the morning and disregard what the scale may say in the day. The difference can be huge sometimes!

Yikes?? You look incredible in that bikini! Your stomach looks amazing. No matter how much I lose, my stomach will never be able to see the light of day in a bikini without surgery

    Any Regrets?

@@candy32980 First off, you're gorgeous! (Just thought I'd get that out of the way, lol) Hubby had RNY 9 years ago, I had the sleeve 10 months ago. The only long term effect my husband has had is a B12 deficiency. Is currently taking shots for it. He has mostly kept his 100+ pound weight loss off. Aside from an initial 20 pound gain (he looked better after that) and then years later a 30 pound gain after quitting smoking (he has since lost it by going back to basics). He has also stretched his pouch out quite a bit. Sleeves, as a rule, don't stretch much. It will never be back to the size of your pre surgical stomach. I do believe that bypass patients lose a little faster if I'm going to be honest with you. I have also seen some bypass patients that have some major deficiency issues that have caused them some health issues. I know 2 personally. I don't think the sleeve has been around long enough to know quite yet what the long term effects are. I also believe you can lose just as much successfully with the sleeve as with the bypass, but it MAY take a bit longer. I have never been a big Vitamin taker, so at 10 months out I am only taking Vitamin D and B12. I prefer to get my Vitamins from food, and with the sleeve you can get away with it. Not so much with the bypass. If you suffer from GERD, I would highly suggest the bypass, as it seems to resolve it. That's all I got
  4. I would wait a while for beer. The carbonation may upset your tummy. I'm 10 months out and I still haven't had beer because of the carbonation.
  5. I've got 10 pounds to goal, and my year is August 22. I would love to hit goal by then, but at this point my monthly weight loss is hit and miss. Some months I'll do well and lose 6 or 7 pounds, some months 2. I will be very close by then though

    Any Regrets?

Did you just have surgery? Because most (not all) people regret it at first.
  7. I waited 4 months, and I know others who waited far longer (in Canada they wait years). I know that doesn't make it any easier, but at least know that waiting is pretty much part of the game. Whether for medical reasons, insurance reasons, or personal reasons, most of us had to wait. Hang in there. I know it's going to work out for you! Keep us posted!

    Any Regrets?

@@Sharpie I only take those Vitamins, don't live on Protein shakes, and can eat normal food. I don't want people considering the sleeve to think that living on protien shakes and vitamins is the norm. It may be at very first, but certainly not for long. Just sayin.
  9. It's normal to stall around that time. Your body is just playing catch up. It's so normal actually, I'm kind of surprised nobody warned you about it. Either search here or Google "The Dreaded Three Week Stall" and you will see it happens to 98% of us. You're doing just fine. As a matter of fact, you're even a little ahead of the game with what you've lost so far. Keep doing what you're doing and the stall will pass.

    Venting....

And that's exactly what you're going to be doing. With the added benefit of of a little tummy
  11. This will pass. The first 6 weeks are the hardest. Months down the road, you will have lost weight and feel almost completely normal. Each day, each week that goes by gets better and better. Just hang in there.

    Sleeve Stretched?

@@SaintTeresa Just be careful! I would hate to see you back in the hospital! Keep doing your liquids and when your doctor tells you it's time, then advance. I think once you're a little more healed and on more solid food, you will feel more restriction. Especially when it's dense protien.
  13. First off, just breath. You have no idea if it's a stricture or blockage. And I beleive those things have pain associated with them, no? Have you been in pain? I would rule more on the side of GERD. Do you take a PPI or ever been diagnosed with GERD or reflux? It's really common with the sleeve. And so is regurgitating in your sleep when you have it. And unfortunately, sometimes a bypass is the solution for severe GERD. But I'm not a doctor.Get your tests done and go from there. Good luck and let us know what they say!

    Sleeve Stretched?

Your stomach was cut open and sewn back up 10 days ago. Your nerve endings are still probably numb from the surgery, so you may not be feeling much sensation. That's why it's really important to stick to your surgeons post op diet. You're risking tearing open those stitches and getting a leak if you fill it up too much...especially with bread that expands! And no, you will be able to eat most things in a few months time when you heal. The problem is if you should. This surgery isn't magic. You have to help it along by making smart, healthy choices. And a bologna sandwich 10 days out isn't a great start.
  15. Be prepared for the "How are you losing the weight??" question. They will ask, so prepare your answer if you're not saying anything about surgery.

    Help carb over load.

@@Amcgowan7319 We are rooting for you! Let us know how it goes! You've done so well with the little guidance you gotten. You really have!

    Help carb over load.

First of all, your restriction will never be where it was a 2 months, so you can forget that. You're doing great on the water! That's not an easy thing to do, so I commend you for that! Why just turkey and cheese wraps? Do you not cook? (I know a lot of people who don't). I think if you can get some variety of some nice, lean Protein and veggies, you won't have room for carbs. So keep up the Water, protein and veggies with every meal. Start weighing and measuring everything. Just because you CAN eat 6 turkey and cheese wraps, doesn't mean you should. And if you just eat protein first, then a little veggies, you will have no room for carbs, because protein is filling! Snack on only a little fruit, cheese, nuts, Jerky. For now, since you're having a problem, just stay completely away from all bread, crackers, Pasta, rice, etc.... if you do that, your cravings should diminish for them. Good Luck! Hope that helps!
  18. I think you should wait until Monday to see if your doctor gives you the go ahead. Can you have broth or Soups or something to change it up? Is that on your liquid diet? I'm not going to tell anyone to go against their surgeons orders. So if you're looking for justification, you aren't getting it from me. Sorry. A lot of us did liquids for 2, 3, 4 weeks or more. I think you need to just suck it up for a few more days.
  19. If it helps, I felt that way for the first 4 months or so. I almost passed out several times. I was just about to go to the doctor for it and it stopped. Could be your blood pressure, or just the combination of low calories or low blood sugar. Call your surgeon or your primary and see if they can figure it out and let us know! I would like to know what mine was, too!
  20. My husband's weight loss surgeon did my gallbladder surgery. So I knew this

    Summer plans?

I flew Alaska when I went to Hawaii, and they offered a really nice fruit and cheese platter for like $7 that my husband and I split. Then I drank lots of Water on the flight. We stayed in a condo that had a kitchen in Maui, so I stocked up on my usual stuff I use at home: Water, Jerky, nuts, even Protein Shakes (I still have one for breakfast). Worked out really well. I walked a beautiful path every morning to make sure I got my exercise in. That was on top of swimming, shopping, snorkeling, etc.... The little bit of planning ahead worked. I ended up losing 2 pounds on vacation. I have never done that before

    FUGG THIS (WEIGHT GAIN)

@@VSGAnn2014 Can I just save your response on my computer and copy and paste in the next "OH NO WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!" thread?? No, seriously, original poster, Ann is spot on. I'm 10 months out, and when I see a pound or two fluctuation now, I'm like "meh". It just doesn't phase me anymore, I'm so used to it. As long as I know I've been doing what I'm supposed to be doing, it's just normal body adjustments that we all go through. You may not like them, but you'll get used to them too
  23. @@Sara51692 Stick to the rules. Protien first, veggie second, then if you have room, carbs. You will find if you stick to that main rule for WLS patients, you will hardly ever have room for carbs. Plus protien helps keep you fuller longer

    9 months out

I'm 10 months out. My loss has been a little on the slow side, but I'm getting there. Through patience and persistence, I am now 10 pounds to goal. And yes, @@Butterflyhigh said it perfectly. My relationship with food has changed completely. It's all about eating real, nutritious food now. I rarely eat processed food anymore, and because I'm pretty much a stickler, I will very rarely have something sweet besides fruit or my morning protien shake. (Yes, I still do a protien shake every morning) It's not to say I won't have a bite of cake or candy on occasion, I just think it can be a slippery slope for me, so I choose to mostly stay away. That goes for bread, Pasta, rice and potato also. I have also become an exercise nut. I began running, and now run 3 miles every other day. I never in a million years thought at 48 years old I would be running! The only running I did before was in my car to the store for my ice cream cravings! Other than some really good restriction still, I feel completely normal. And healthy. I think mostly avoiding carbs and sweets, always eating protien first, and constantly drinking fluids throughout the day has helped me become successful. In other words, sticking with the rules given to me from the beginning, even at 10 months out. It really does work
