10 Months Post-op... Goal in sight!
Babbs replied to JamieLogical's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You're doing so great Jamie! Always an inspiration and voice of reason for me and everyone else on this forum. And you are so right. I've been so focused on getting to goal by my year, it's almost stressing me out. Especially when my loss this month was 4 pounds too. What's the damn hurry? It doesn't mean I'm less successful if I don't get to 150 by August 22. See. Always the voice of reason -
WLS in the 80's and weight gain after.
Babbs replied to Patk's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Patk Just to ease your mind a bit, I think the surgeries of today are SO MUCH safer and easier than the stomach staplings back in the day. I used to babysit for a lady that had it done in the 80's, and she almost died from a staple coming loose. It seemed so dangerous at the time. I also think those stomach staplings of old are why there is still a stigma of how dangerous and "drastic" WLS is. My sleeve surgery was easier than my gall bladder surgery. -

@@Catherine Davis Yup. If you have a hard time with moderation, then cut them out completely. Diet Coke was the hardest thing to quit for me. And I quit smoking before surgery! I tried having a couple sips about a month ago at 9 months post op, and the carbonation just killed me. I drink iced tea now. And Water of course -
I'm sorry. This has nothing to do with weight loss. But if you don't laugh at this, you're dead inside....

Here is an awesome video of Dr Weiner and common WLS myths. All of his videos are great, by the way. -

It doesn't stretch with carbonation. That's my point. -
How many ounces of meat can you eat at 1 year post op?
Babbs replied to miller1109's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
At 10.5 months post op I can eat about the same as you. -
How to stop losing weight without gaining it back
Babbs replied to Rogofulm's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I was told there'd be no math.... No, seriously. I hate math. And if I need to use it for maintenance I'm seriously screwed. -

@@OutsideMatchInside That rule is not for the sleeve. Only bypass. The sleeve will stretch a little , but will never be the size of your pre surgery stomach. The surgery removed the "stretchy" part of the stomach. -
I'm in! Hopefully to goal by the last weigh in!
-
Mine did. Went down a half size

I agree with @autumn23242. Have your gallbladder checked out if it happens again.

Spot on. And I've been successful so far by following all of these too!
-
1. Follow your plan 98% of the time. 2. Move. You don't have to be a marathon runner, but find something you like to do and stick with it. But also understand that weight loss comes mostly with diet and not exercise. But you want a healthy heart, too. 3. Be patient, persistent, and resilient. It's not going to fall off of you. You will have a few gains. You will stall. Weight loss will slow down a little as time goes by. If you are doing what you need to do (See number 1), it's just normal stuff we all go through. 4.Learn as much as you can from books, WLS forums, blogs, Youtube vlogs, etc...LISTEN to the veterans on these forums! They know what they are talking about! I couldn't have done this without them! 5. Enjoy your new life!

Here. Read this. Good stuff. http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php

Guys, it's okay. How fast you lose just all depends on some things that are, quite frankly, out of our control. Age, gender, starting weight and BMI. I was right there with you. I think I had lost 19 pounds by 6 weeks. 50 some at 6 months. Did I look at other's results and get completely frustrated? YOU BET! But then I finally decided not to waste precious energy on worrying about how much weight I'm losing compared to others. It's not a race to be won. It's a lifestyle change that won't end just because we get to our goal weight. What's the hurry? Enjoy the journey and your new life! Now here I am, 10.5 months out, and am 10 pounds to my goal weight. Do I feel like a failure because of my perceived "slow weight loss?" ABSOLUTELY NOT. Because ultimately it's about getting there, not how long it took. Patience, persistence, and resilience. Stick to your plan, find some exercise you love to do, and you'll be there before you know it

Most of us that weren't self pay waited 3, 4, 6 months or more (Canada they wait years). Just part of the process. The waiting sucks, but take the time to learn as much as you can about your particular procedure by reading this site and others, books, watch you tube videos etc.... Good luck and keep us posted!

Why am I holding onto my fat?
Babbs replied to JustWatchMe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Only you can answer that question.... I hope that we can help support and encourage you any way we can to get you there! But you gotta meet us half way -
I just had my GP do all my follow up stuff.

if i can be honest...(let me know if this happens to you too)
Babbs replied to qnz234's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started a thread about this very subject. Seems to be a common problem with us WLS peeps. Here is the thread: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/341263-why-is-it-the-more-weight-i-lose-the-fatter-i-feel/ -
@@sugabear44 You're welcome! You're doing great!

It's just normal body fluctuations. Don't worry about it. Throughout this whole process, you're going to stall and see fluctuations. You may as well get used to it. As long as you're getting your Protein and fluids in, minimizing carbs from bread, Pasta, etc.. and moving a little, you will see the weight come off. Just bear with the daily fluctuations.

Anyone weight differ from first thing in morning to late afternoon or night? My weight is 6-10lbs different.
Babbs replied to halfpintvsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh, and not to be gross, but I've weighed, gone poop, and weighed again after. It can be a half a pound difference sometimes! Lol... -
@@AWD12368 Weights may help out a little, but I'm afraid how well skin bounces back depends on things mostly out of our control: Age, how much weight we have to lose, how fast we lose...did I say age?? That, I believe, is the biggest factor.
