Seeing lots of these posts in the last year, I can almost bet you have let a few bad habits slip back into your lifestyle. (Not judging at all, just from what I've seen happen) You've stopped tracking and weighing You've stopped eating protien first You've either stopped or cut back on regular exercise You've let too many simple carbs back into your diet You're eating too many sweet treats You're drinking too many empty calories (ie Starbucks coffees, sodas, alcohol) You're not drinking 64 oz of Water Like I said, I haven't even hit maintenence yet, so I have no room to judge at all. But if you get back to basics and start getting back on board with the list above, I'll bet you can get to your goal by Christmas! Good Luck!

You're doing great! Like we say to people who complain about losing too slowly, people lose at their own pace. Remember this post ironically when you're closer to goal and you are struggling to lose a pound a week
-
You're not alone! We will all be here for you! It is a scary thing to go through. Especially without a lot of support. But if you decide to pull the trigger and go through with it, you will be so happy you did! It's a lot of hard work and dedication, but so worth it in the end to achieve the life you deserve. Keep us posted!

5 days post op...help Sleevers!
Babbs replied to ashley126's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Patience, Grasshopper. You just had 85% of your stomach taken out of your body, and the other half stapled closed. It takes time to feel somewhat normal. I think I finally felt somewhat human again at around 5 weeks. Unfortunately, I still suffer from reflux. Not gonna lie, the first month sucks. But months down the road, when you feel good and have lost some weight, it's all going to be a distant memory. I promise -

Babbs replied to no onions's topic in Rants & Raves
I actually am not so even keeled about some things. The f****** drinking question drives me nuts. I mean, worrying about when I can drink was the last damn thing on my mind before surgery. I was more worried about, oh I dunno, CHANGING MY LIFESTYLE BECAUSE I'M HAVING MAJOR SURGERY TO DO SO??? See. Not so even keeled. -
Former smokers. where ya at?
Babbs replied to kbingo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit 2 months before my surgery using a vape. I gradually tapered down the nicotine until I was down to none, and then just lost interest in the vape. If you want to do something with your hands and feel like you're still kind of smoking, I would recommend it! Just get the juice with no nicotine. To be honest, I'm more proud if quitting smoking after 25 years than I am of having the surgery and losing weight. Smoking is so much harder to quit! But I'm so happy I did -
Plans and Menu for 4th of July
Babbs replied to Debbieduck4's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We are celebrating 2 birthdays. My daughters was July 1st, and her husband's on July 5th. So hanging out at my house barbecuing turkey burgers and hot dogs. I'm also making my famous jalapeño poppers and fruit salad. In place of cake, I bought mini red velvet cupcakes, so basically they are just bite sized Shooting off fireworks to end the evening. Happy 4th everyone! -
@@Debbieduck4 Beautiful! Idaho has some gorgeous hiking, too. Something I've also thought about is buying a kayak and going kayaking. Sounds fun!

Accepting yourself loose skin and all!
Babbs replied to amz85's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@lovingmomof3 That's great about your friend, but 295 is still morbidly obese. I don't think her skin will shrink or tone up after she gets down to 195....185... etc.... It's just a matter of physics. Skin stretches so far out, but it can only bounce back so much after a certain amount of stretching. The sagging skin is just a reality for those of us who were/are morbidly obese and then lose most or all of the weight. How much it bounces back depends on lots of things....age, how much weight lost, how fast weight was lost, did I say age??? But if we want to be truthful, most of us have some form of sagging skin we have to contend with, and nothing will fix it aside from surgical intervention, which some will choose to do. And some of us choose to just deal with it. No right or wrong answer. -
do you know your Meyer's Briggs personality type?

I took it for real a long time ago for work, but couldn't quite remember what type I was. Took this online test, and yup, pretty spot on. Varying Degrees of Restriction?
Babbs replied to BrisvegasGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't know this for a fact, but I've heard that revisions sometimes don't feel as much restriction as a strait up sleeve...but if those of you revisions want to chime in and let me know if that's true or not that would be great... But with me, who is not a revision, it varies from day to day. Some days I feel like I can eat so much and barely feel restriction, and other days I eat 3 bites and I'm stuffed. It's really weird! -
Almost 4 weeks post op i think I'm in a stalll!
Babbs replied to purdy1408's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, you guys are probably in a stall. It happens. Expect it to happen again. And possibly even again. Don't get discouraged! I am the queen of stalls, and I'm 9 pounds from goal. Just becuase you stall, doesn't mean you're finished losing weight. Stay with your program, and the scale will move again. Just takes a little patience -
@@The Candidate When is your surgery? I can't wait for you to have your surgery! I love your posts, and from what I've seen, you are going to rock it!

Okay. Here's a little reality check. The lower the BMI, the slower you will lose. Those of you with 40 or below BMI as a rule will not lose as much weight the first month as those of you with 40 or higher BMI. Males lose faster than us gals. Fact. Infuriating, but true. You will not lose 20 or 30 pounds every month. After the initial fast weight loss month or so, it stabilizes to more "normal" losses. 2-5 lbs a week. Then as you get closer to your goal, it's more like 2-5 a MONTH. Don't compare yourself to others. There are just too many variables to what a normal rate is for weight loss. Any weight lost is a victory. And from what I've seen here, you all are winners!

Pain Meds After Sleeve Surgery
Babbs replied to KeepOnRockinMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think taking your pain meds as prescribed makes you an addict. Don't worry about it. I took all of mine that were prescribed. After a couple days, I didn't really need them during the day anymore, but I'm a tummy sleeper and was having a hard time sleeping on my back. So I would take a pain pill, put a pillow between my legs, and sleep as close to on my tummy as I could. They got me through the nights until I was able to fully sleep on my tummy again. Oh, and I didn't become an addict -
In the home stretch.. I guess?
Babbs replied to mmurray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can see that if you've kept your calories that low the whole time. But by six months many have stopped tracking and the calories are creeping higher and they aren't aware. So tracking is gonna show Anyone where they are at and then they can make adjustments accordingly. If they aren't aware that they've crept up to 1500 or so they can adjust downwards if they realize they are consistently 600-800 they can adjust upwards. Tracking is a tool. Yeah, and I wasn't losing that much and stalling ALL THE TIME. Funny, it took me a while to figure out I just needed to increase my calories. Slow learner, I guess 1200-1300 seems to be my sweet spot right now, because I've been losing pretty consistently the last few months. -
Interesting US Bariatric Surgery Statistics

Interesting to see the increase in the sleeve over the years. Seems to be the surgery of choice these days. What in the world would "other" be??! -
Yeah, you need to poop. I'm always amazed when I weigh myself before and after I poop how much the scale goes down. Between a half pound to a pound. Gross. LOL.

In the home stretch.. I guess?
Babbs replied to mmurray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What's weird is in my case, increasing my calories seemed to do the trick to speed things up after 6 months. I went from 800-900 calories at about 6 months, to gradually increasing to my current 1200-1250. I also do cardio (running, elliptical) and weights 4-5 days a week. It has come off pretty darn steadily this last four months. You're so close! You can do this! -
Shame in sharing WLS with friends/family?
Babbs replied to PChayy05's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If I was going to be a race car driver, why would even I listen to or take advice from anyone who hasn't driven a race car? It's the same thing with telling people about WLS. If they haven't had it themselves, then why do I care what they think? All the nay sayers can kiss my size 8 ass. -
Is this your first stall? If so, good for you! Most people stall at 3 weeks out. Stalls, especially at first, are normal. Your body is just adjusting to the rapid weight loss. It's a reset of sorts. Keep doing what you need to do and it will pass. As Miss Mac says: Stalls are like lovers. Your first probably won't be your last
-
Confused... what did I do wrong?
Babbs replied to cuchas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally normal. Especially if you're weighing several times a day. I'm 2-5 pounds higher sometimes between morning and evening. That being said, with your amazing weight loss of 33 pound in 2 weeks, your body is going to try to adjust. You are going to fluctuate and even stall here soon. Happens to everyone. Just keep doing what you need to do and it will pass. Great job and keep it up!
