  1. You want to know what you're doing wrong? Comparing yourself to others. You've lost 81 pounds in 6 months. That is incredible. You should be so proud of yourself! I suggest you just keep doing what you're doing, except try to up your calories to a consistent 1000 if you can. With how much you work out, you need those calories. I upped mine at 6 months and it really helped give me more consistent weight loss, meaning I wasn't stalling constantly anymore and losing 5-7lbs a month (which is average weight loss, by the way). Sounds like you're keeping your carbs down, I don't really know what you mean by "I didn't say I was going to give up everything for the rest of my life, so I'm eating them"...I would try to stay completely away from carbs coming from anything white until you've reached 75% of your weight loss. Just get carbs from veggies and dairy right now. If you want to speed up your weight loss, (although you're doing just great) that will help. There's plenty of time to eat carby stuff when you're close to and at maintenance. Hope that helps! Really though, you're doing just fine

    Struggling to quit smoking?

That's how I quit 2 months before surgery, too! I even lost interest in vaping after I cut out the nicotine. Been 13 months smoke free I don't get the hate for vaping. It's so much better than those nasty carcinogens found in cigarettes. It's just Water VAPOR. But still people are all up in arms about how we don't know the effects of long term vaping, and there's still a smell and BLAH BLAH BLAH. It helps people quit. It's not poison like cigs are. I think they are a great alternative to lighting up. But people love to control people's lives and take away their personal freedoms any way they can. Rant over.

    Goal?

@@FutureMrs.Bee @@AlanaRN I know, right?! I'm 5'5", and am 157lbs and am a size 8. I don't think I could squeeze my ass into a size 6 if I tried! Maybe 10 more pounds.... Anyhoo....I chose my goal weight by a "normal" BMI. 150 pounds is the highest end of a normal BMI, so I figured being someone *ahem* my age, I wouldn't be too unrealistic and shoot for 135. I may go 145, but that's it.

Mammograms - where a cup is turned into a saucer

I had mine in January at 6 months out, and by then I had lost 50 some-ish pounds, and they never asked! Good to know for my next one to give them that info. Especially since the year before I had a little scare that turned out to be nothing, but still
  5. Just like the labor with having your kids, the approval process is such a small part of the whole journey. And just like having kids, the real work starts once you actually have the surgery

    Day 4-feeling sick?

You just had major surgery. Youre going to have off days. In my experience with the several surgeries I've had, days 3 and 4 seem the worse. I've heard it has something to do with the anesthesia finally leaving your body. Make sure you're staying hydrated. That is most important right now. People don't end up back in the hospital due to lack of protien, but lack of fluids.

    Surgery day question

You don't even really know it's there Just feels funny coming out.
  8. I'm 7 pounds to goal because I followed most of the "rules" to a T. And the drinking rule is no exception. No snark. Just sayin'.
  9. We are very similar! I hope I'm there quickly! I'm tired of jeans cutting into my middle. I have read that my metabolism is probably going to slow down my loss because I was banded before. I hope not! Yeah, I hear that you revisions are a little slower. But so what? As long as you get there and enjoy the journey, that's all that matters! Good luck and keep us posted!
  10. @@Tazwella We have very similar stats! You'll be there in no time! I was on the slower side, so you may get there faster than I did
  11. They gave a me my HRT pill in the hospital after surgery. And I took my regular pills normally when I got home, no crushing. That is until a few weeks later when I was taken off of everything Yay!
  12. I blame the implementation of this USDA food pyramid. I think it's not coincidental that we started becoming more and more obese after this was implemented in the early 90's....

    So I've noticed...

@@Elode Your arms look good!!? I know you haven't exercised much, so I'm actually a little jelly by how good they look without lifting. I've had to kill myself lifting to get some tone in mine. But yeah, start doing some lifting and resistance training..that should help!

    You look great @@Elode!
  15. @@MsJen My understanding is that most insurance companies go with the beginning BMI. But another good question for your insurance company! I believe I was under the required BMI when I got approved.

Food Scale - do you really need one?

    Yes.
  17. @@MsJen I understand you being anxious to get this done asap, but the truth is, unless you are going to do self pay, most of us had to jump through the hoops of the insurance requirements. Most of us waited 4,5,6 months and even more. I suggest you take that time to learn healthy eating habits, read WLS forums and books, watch YouTube videos, etc.. so you can be as prepared as you can be for the huge life change coming your way. That will make the time go by faster! Keep us posted!
  18. No offense, but your GP sounds like an ignorant fool. Find another one that understands the benefits of WLS. And yes, as @@reree6898 said, you will get better answers if you call your insurance company for the exact requirements.

    Transformation Tuesday!

@@laguerr13 Go get yourself some clothes that fit! You'll feel so great!
  20. Kicking butt and taking names! I'll check out the page right now!
  21. It's completely normal. You're tired, head hungry, sore, and are saying to yourself "What have I done?!" Most of us go through it early on. It passes. Like what was said before, you may want a cheeseburger now, but once you get going, you are going to find you are only going to want to eat healthy, WLS friendly foods. I know that's hard to believe, but it's true! Will you crave some foods still? Yup. But the healthier you eat, the more you can keep those cravings at bay. Besides, you will have a cheeseburger months down the road. It may be lean beef or turkey with no bun, but you can still have it Like I said, you just make your favorites more WLS friendly!

Exercise for the sake of exercise

Volunteer! Not only will it keep you physically active and busy, but it will make your heart feel good, too. I know animal shelters are always looking for volunteers to walk the doggies.
  23. My husband quit when I quit last year, and after putting on 30lbs, he picked it back up again this year I thought it was going to be hard to be around him, but it wasn't. I just must have been ready and DONE. The only hard thing now is the smell! He has to practically shower every time he comes near me. It's nasty when you don't smoke anymore!
  24. I'm not quite sure what you want? Do you just want to vent about feeling like a failure (which you aren't) or take some of the great advice you've gotten here and put it into action instead of coming up with excuses and negativity? Because I can tell you right now, your mindset is not going to get you where you need to be. People can give you spot on advice like you got here and in support groups til the cows come home, but if you're not willing to change your mindset (and your eating habits), all the complaining about how you're apparently the only person in the whole world who has to work harder than anybody else to lose weight after the sleeve isn't going to do you any good. You've got to put the advice into action and stop with the excuses and negative self talk. If you need therapy to do so, then please continue to go until you feel worthy enough to do what you need to do to be successful. Attitude is everything with weight loss. I know it can get discouraging and cause people to lose motivation. But if you really want this, I mean REALLY want this, you'll find a way to fight through the discouragement and forge ahead and keep trying. You're well spoken and seem intelligent. I know you can do this.

    Carbonation?

I didn't try any carbonation until about 9 months out. I had a couple of sips of diet soda and it almost killed me! It did not agree with my stomach at all. If I let it sit out a while and let it get a little flat I guess it would be okay. But not worth it to me. I'll stick to water and iced tea
