    Someone slap me please!

I don't think the moderation thing works for everybody. I think for people with eating disorders and food addictions, it's not realistic to say you can have anything you want, just in moderation because the amount is limited. I CRINGE when some people chime in to assure newbies they can eat whatever they want because thanks to WLS, they can now eat like a thin person! I'm sorry, but I call bullshit. That thinking only works for a very small percentage of WLS people. Even in maintenance. I'm not saying we can't have it ever. But I know from personal experience that I can eat a piece of pizza and stop because full. But I can also keep going back to the leftovers throughout the day until I've eaten 3 pieces of pizza. Hell, I could eat a whole pizza in 1 day if you give me enough time. If the surgeons thought we could control ourselves, then why give guidelines at all? Why don't they just tell us "You can eat pizza and beer whenever you want! Just in MODERATION". How do you think people gain weight back after surgery? It sure the hell ain't from eating salads.

    Where did my hunger go?

It happens. I still have times where several days go by and I have to force myself to eat. Then there are times where I feel like I could eat all day long and I have to restrain myself. Today has been one of those days. It's just the ebb and flow of things with the sleeve

    No one is noticing:-(

You laugh, but I actually did that with a pretty good friend I hadn't seen for a while. I said "Can't you tell I've lost like 50 pounds???" They were like "No, not really...I think you look great, though!" WTH?? Seriously, it took me losing SEVENTY POUNDS before people started to notice! Really strange.....

    No one is noticing:-(

I was always so up and down with my weight, and people were so used to seeing me in various stages of weight loss and gain, only just recently am I getting the constant comments about my weight loss. And I'm almost to goal! It was really discouraging at times seeing someone you hadn't seen in a while, and them not noticing. Happened to me all the time.

Oh no, didn't you hear? It's OKAY to eat the same foods after surgery as you did before, because it's just smaller portions! I weep for humanity sometimes.....

    I need help :(

First of all, congrats on your weight loss! That's amazing! You should be very proud of yourself! Unfortunately, none of us can count on the sleeve to always do the work for us. Sure, we help it along by eating right and exercising, but weight loss is still pretty easy during the honeymoon period where restriction is good and hunger is relatively low. You may be past the honeymoon period at this point. Time to really start buckling down and weigh and measure your food and stop when you're finished, whether full or not. Protien first, veggies second. No carbs or low carb until you start losing steadily again or get close maintenence. I too have noticed I can eat a lot more at this point and it pisses me off, lol. But I also know it's time for me to really crack down and pay attention to how much I'm eating at this point, or I will never reach my goal. It sucks, but it's just the progression of the sleeve. Like I said, that's why they call it "The Honeymoon Period". Good luck! You can do this! You've done amazing already!

    Normal foods

@@laceygorrell I eat tacos. Just without the shell. You learn to eat in a more WLS friendly way. In other words, cutting out or extremely limiting carbs from bread, Pasta, rice etc.., leaner meats, less sugars, less processed foods etc.... In my honest opinion, I think it's pie in the sky thinking when people say they will eat whatever they want, just in smaller portions. It will work for a short time in the honeymoon period while you're losing and even into maintenence, but it won't last. There will be regain of weight if you don't cement healthy eating habits early on. And that's a fact.
  12. @@jamieq You go girl! I was so touched by you crying over running your first mile. I too started running about 6 months ago, and absolutely fell in love with the idea of seeing how far I could go. After a C25K type program, I ran 3.1 miles (equivalent of a 5K) a couple of months ago. I NEVER, at 48 years old, thought I would be running 5K! It's amazing what we can do when we put our minds to it (and our bodies are more willing). You're next! 5K, here you come!

    Normal foods

Most people are on liquids for 2 weeks, pureeds for 2 weeks, and then soft food for 2 more weeks. So 6 weeks or more for "regular" food. And you have to wait longer for certain foods. No, I don't eat the same food I ate before surgery like pizza and fried chicken. If I do, it's a lower carb/lower calorie version. Why would I eat the same things that made me fat in the first place? The idea is to change your lifestyle along with the surgery. That's how the ones who are successful do it, anyway. You can only get away with eating the same things but in smaller portions for so long.

    Tired of being fat

I can't wait until you check back in with us months down the road and say "I can't stop shopping for clothes!" Yes, it really does happen when you've lost the weight and love how you look in clothes finally

    I'm so sick of water

Does Gatorade have a no calorie/low calorie version? I don't know becuase I don't drink it. If not, I can probably tell why they don't want you to drink it....calories. Empty, non nutritious calories. Those are a WLS persons nightmare. Try not to ever drink your calories unless it's a Protein shake.

    I'm so sick of water

I agree with @Elode...carbonation HURTS! I've tried a couple of sips recently (and I'm 11 months out) and it was not pleasant! Like someone said...iced tea? Plain or with splenda? That's what I drink in place of my beloved Diet Cokes. It hits the spot for me

    Struggling to quit smoking?

@@tstarkey704 Awesome job!! But seriously, if there is no nicotine in the vape, what would the surgeons issue be with it? I really don't get it.

What is on the menu today

I'm SUPER boring. Protien shake (yes, I still do a protien shake for breakfast at 11 months out) and a cup of coffee. Some Sunday's I'll deviate and actually have an omlette or something
  19. I seriously think you should consider the revision to RNY. If you aren't the perfect example of someone who needs a revision because of GERD and other problems, I don't know who is. I'm so sorry you are and have had to go through all that. You're a strong person. Stronger than I would be. Good luck and keep us posted! Hang in there!

@@SeahawksFan I bow to you! As an aspiring 5ker, I am truly impressed.
  21. Haha JINX! No, but really. The reason you said the same thing is because IT WORKS!
  22. What does that 1000 calories consist of? Lean protien and veggies? Are you always eating protien first before anything else? Are you staying away from carbs found in bread, crackers, Cookies, rice etc? Are you excersising? Are you tracking all your food every day? Everything that goes into your mouth? Are you getting at least 64oz of Water? If you answered "no" to all or one of those questions, then that may be the issue. Try to continue to adhere to the basic WLS rules, and you should start seeing progress again.

    Two Quick Questions

I took a shower in the hospital the day I went home (had surgery on a Friday, went home Sunday). I think I was taking a bath almost immediately after I got home. You will have water proof steri strip on your incisions. No restriction on stairs, either. They want you to walk! Just no lifting
  24. You really aren't going to feel a "full" sensation on liquids. Once you start solids, you will feel it after the first couple bites. Like @@bewell said, learn to read the full signal before you take that one bite too many. Measuring also helps with that. At first, at least to me, I felt it way up high...like almost into my esophagus. Like a tightness. At 11 months out, the full feeling is more normal now.

    CORN
