I kind of look at it like this: If I was wanting to learn how to drive a race car and needed advice, why would listen to anyone who wasn't a race car driver?

Pureed foods, really?
Babbs replied to Jim in Utah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
By the time you're actually able to eat pureed foods after being on the liquid diet, a dead rat will taste good pureed. Believe me. -
Did someone say hair loss?? Unfortunately, it does happen to most, but certainly not everyone. I started at 5 months, stopped at around 8 months, and for some reason am starting again at 11 months. Luckily, my hair used to be pretty thick, so it's not too noticeable to an outsider. I'm glad the poster above mentioned Nioxin, because that's what I bought today after I got my hair done and saw what's in the picture below. This is after she colored and combed through it

Good job and huge difference! You even look younger! From one slow loser to another, I salute you

@@shayfeisty If you would stop being on the defensive and stop with the name calling, you would have understood the point I was trying to make. Good luck with your weight loss journey, young lady. With your attitude, you're gonna need it.

"Goal shaming". That's a new one. I won't EVER apologize for busting my ass to get to goal to make you feel better. **EDIT** Okay, I know that sounded harsh. But why should someone apologize for getting to goal and saying they did XYZ to get there? I totally agree that we all need to do our own thing when it comes to WLS, but the principles are the same. And if followed 98% of the time, it should work to help get someone where they need to be and stay there. There's really no "winging it" with this. There's rules, and although rules are meant to be broken and will be,even by the so called "perfect" people, they are there for a reason. I don't think people should apologize for following the rules most of the time to make someone else who may not be feel better. Nowhere did I say any of us are perfect. Some people are just more strict than others about following the rules the majority of the time. And there is nothing wrong with that, either.

Do you/Did you trust your NUT/Dietitian?
Babbs replied to SoulGlo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've done this all without using any kind of NUT post surgery. I find the bariatric forums much more informative. -
@@The Candidate I used to do the same thing, lol. I'd have the same shirts but in multiple colors, lol. What's that all about??

@@lisa13fan What's your starting BMI? The more you have to lose, the more you lose at first. Usually when I see starting BMI'S at 40 or below, you lose about the rate you're losing. And even if your BMI is higher, 25 pounds is great for 7 weeks. It's more than I lost in 7 weeks! Any loss is great! This isn't a race. You're not going to lose all your weight overnight. It takes time, patience and persistence. You'll get there!

The first day, I ended up sending hubby home because I was not in the mood for visitors. I just wanted to sleep. The second day, I felt much better and was up for visitors.

Pre vs post op diet...prepare yourself! (This is somewhat of a rant also)
Babbs replied to MrsDixon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't think anyone is ever really prepared for what you go through after the surgery. Especially the mental and emotional aspect. It honestly threw me for a loop. I've said it before, WLS ain't for sissies. That's why I want to punch people in the face that try to say we took the easy way. You're going to find that what you're going through right now is such a small blip on the radar in the grand scheme of things. As my dearly departed mom used to say: This too, shall pass. -
Dr put me on strange diet and I have questions
Babbs replied to ShutterGirl1829's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Skip the pre packaged process crap and bread and just eat lean protien and veggies with every meal. 64 oz of water should suffice. Stay away from sugar except an occasional peice of fruit (berries preferrably). Nuts, jerky, or cheese for sancks. You do those things and try to move a little extra each day, I guarantee you will have lost the weight you need to lose for the surgery. May as well get used to eating like that now, since that's how you will be eating after the surgery. -
Should I chill out?
Babbs replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@OutsideMatchInside Have you had surgery before? It is my experience with the multiple surgeries I've had, including this one, that days 3 and 4 are the worst. So yes, if you don't try to take it a little easier, you are going to crash pretty hard. You just had major surgery. It's okay to take it a little easy! -
I got hungry too. I believe you! And I used to say the same thing...no, I'm not thirsty, no its not acid.....I'M HUNGRY! You just gotta power through it by continually drinking your protien, soups, broths, Water, whatever you've got to do until that glorious moment when you can actually put some real food in your belly. Then it seems to subside. And I am someone because of complications was on full liquids for SIX WEEKS. I still get hungry, but it's very off and on. But I when I am, boy do I know it!

Any one rocking a belt these day's?
Babbs replied to Healthy_life2's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I still don't feel confident enough to tuck my shirt in to wear a belt because of my pooch (panni). Maybe after 10 more pounds or surgery I will -
How to prepare for surgery day?
Babbs replied to avRose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only needed my pajama pants (so my butt didn't hang out of my robe when I walked the halls) my slippers, and my phone. Find a Protein shake you know you will like and stock up. Don't make the mistake of buying all different kinds and find out you hate most of them. I still have protien drinks in my pantry I couldn't stand almost a year later! What a waste. -
@@SassyTassy I don't have anything to add because I've been married to a man for 26 years that can't keep his hands off of me whether I'm thin or fat, but you are very pretty. When you lose the weight, you are going to be fighting them off with a stick, whether you like it or not

Your little tummy is really swollen and very narrow. It's just going to feel that way until the swelling goes down. It sucks, but that's the name of the game.Keep trying to get those fluids in! -
@@ShrinkingPeach Good rant. And so true. Lipstick Lady posted a thread not too long ago about whether it was cheating or a choice? We make choices every day, but I also understand there are some deeper issues about WHY we make the choices we make. But in the end, it IS all about the choices we make. We got fat because of the choices we made, and we will get healthy with the choices we make. Are they always easy? No, but I am quickly learning that delayed gratification is not something easy to practice for current or formerly obese people, and we don't like anything that makes us feel uncomfortable, such as drinking Water or exercising when we don't want to. Seems to be a common trait among us. This WLS thing ain't for sissies. You have to learn to delay gratification, do things you don't want to do, and learn to be uncomfortable sometimes. But the rewards are so worth it.

Yes, as Ann said I want to clarify when I say "carbs", I mean what I call the white stuff (bread, Pasta, rice, etc...) I get most of my carbs right now from veggies, fruits and dairy (although I've cut out most dairy also). I will occasionally indulge in the white stuff because I have lost most of my excess weight at this point. As usual, Ann, Blerdgirl, Inner Surfer Girl, and Rogofulm are spot on.
