  1. @VSGAnn20147 I agree completely. I know I sound like a bread nazi sometimes, but I'm not against bread at all. Like you said, I think it should be avoided in the first months of surgery to make room for more protien, and it doesn't serve them well nutritionally the first 6 months or so. I think once the person has lost most of their excess weight, it's great to start adding some whole grains for a more well balanced diet as long as it doesn't send the person off the deep end with cravings for more. I enjoy my occassional piece of bread, but man oh man does it make me crave more sugar and carbs! That's why I choose to stay away mostly.
  2. @@jfzimmerman Well I've never seen your posts until now, but that goes for you, too! Sounds like you definitely know what's ahead and are ready for the challenge! Good Luck and keep us posted!

    3 week stall :(

@@Bndtoslv Yup. I've felt that way many, many times!
  4. @@The Candidate You're going to do great! You have a great attitude and outlook. I can always tell the people who are going to run with it and make it work. You're definitely one of them
  5. How damn hard this can be at times. Especially emotionally. Most of us have relied so much on food for comfort, boredom, celebration, sadness, etc....and learning other coping skills besides turning to food can be a hard pill to swallow. But I also didn't know how great it would feel to finally be in control of what goes in my mouth and seeing my weight decrease because of that. The rewards are endless!

    What Are Your Food Ruts?

Premier Protein shake every morning. Greek yogurt after my workout. Tuna salad, seafood salad or veggie burger for lunch Jerky, almonds or cheese sticks for snacks...sometimes fruit Grilled (name a protein) with a veggie for dinner I swear this is my menu 90% of the time. Yup, you could say in a rut

@@AlanaRN Yes, I eat fruit! I've enjoyed the summer fruit like watermelon, strawberries and cherries. I try not to have anything too high in carbs other times, so I stick with the lower sugar fruits like berries. I like a banana every now and then too.

    3 week stall :(

If you're still losing it's not a stall. A stall is when you will see no loss for a week up to several weeks.
  10. You need protien this early out, so bread has absolutely no nutritional value to you right now. I made roll ups with lunch meat and cheese. You're a little early out for lettuce, but it makes a good substitute for bread on a sandwich, too. Just stick your meat and fillings in between 2 pieces of lettuce

    Getting Real

I'm a Realtor, and I was working the day I got home, answering emails from clients who didn't know I had surgery. I also had 2 closings that week I attended. So I don't think you doing a little work from home will be an issue.

    Close to goal and stalled

I'm 11 months out. I suggest you stir things up a bit with your diet and maybe try getting a few extra carbs from bread and so forth for a couple of days? It has worked for me before! What do you have to lose? (Except weight, lol)
  14. The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will--Vince Lombardi I LOVE his quotes!
  15. @@Titaniumsleeved2014 That sounds miserable. I have GERD too, not as bad as you, but I can sure relate. My husband had a RNY bypass 9 years ago, and has had ZERO problems besides a normal B12 deficiency. He has had 1 30 pound gain after quitting smoking, but has since lost it again. So basically he has kept off 100 pounds for 8 years. So honestly, most people do very well with the bypass.

Hmmmm. I'm close to goal like you (either 9 pounds or 7 pounds away depending on the day) So yeah, I'm bouncing around too. But I have managed to lose a few pounds this month. Not a lot, but something, lol. It just gets harder the closer we get. What kind of exercise are you doing? I do 30-40 minutes of cardio 4 days a week and a little weights after. As you can see, I'm focusing more on cardio right now to finish off this last remaining weight. I'll worry about weight training when I get to maintenance. I have also decided to add a few carbs from bread and stuff just to change things up a little.
  17. Sounds like you are a good candidate for the bypass. Not because the sleeve "failed" you, but because of the horrible reflux. I think the sleeve would have worked for you if you were able to eat properly, but it sounds like you couldn't because of the reflux. Catch 22. Good luck with the revision. I hear it almost completely eliminates the reflux. And now you also have less to lose

    My worst fear

I know this sounds corny, but it's true in any aspect of life. You are the only one in charge of your own destiny. It will work if you make it work. Oh, and yes. I felt that way many, many times. Just power through it and you'll get to the other side. I promise.
  24. Congrats! First of all, don't "hope it works" because the surgery itself will not work if you don't help it along. You are the ultimate factor on whether it works or not. You will still have to eat properly, try to get some exercise, and change your whole outlook about food. It's not easy, but so worth it if you can get the proper mindset to utilize the tool given to you correctly. I'm not saying that to scare you, lol. Just hoping you're as prepared as possible for what's ahead. Mostly great things, but a lot of hard work. Both emotional and physically. If you're up for the challenge, the sky is the limit!! And I can't wait to see where this journey will take you! I get inspired every single day by people who have done this. Keep us posted!
  25. Dr Weiner here disagrees about the sleeve stretching. He says it's a myth:
