According to BMI, you are still considered a "healthy" weight at 125. Sure, you look thin, but not unhealthy. I say go for 125 if you feel good. And frankly, you can expect to gain a some weight down the road (statistically speaking) so why not give yourself some wiggle room? Good job on your weight loss!
-
And if you already understand that concept, you're going to do just fine
-
And you are in total control of not letting that happen. @@jennjarrid You're welcome! Did that make sense?

Yes. That is pretty much the reason. That is why it's of utmost importance the first year to 18 months for people to take advantage of the reduced hunger and good restriction to cement healthy eating habits so it can carry you through for the rest of your life when the sleeve's effectiveness "wears off" (for lack of a better term).

Yup. That's about it in a nutshell

I just started the Nioxin system. Hope it works!

Cheated on liquid diet
Babbs replied to jppaul16438's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Uh, okay? If you're pre op, who cares. If you're post op, yes it could effect something. Is that the answer you want? *Edit* Just noticed this is the pre op thread. Again, unless it's the day of surgery, who cares. I didn't even have a pre op diet. -
It's so normal to be nervous and emotional. Any life changing event is emotional. Yeah, it's a change. But for the better! In just a matter of time, you will be having lunch with your coworkers thinner, more confident, and you'll have leftovers to take home to boot! Good luck tomorrow and keep us posted!

That's because you have freakishly good restriction and YOU SUCK

That's the reason I have a shake every morning. I want to be able to drink my coffee ASAP!!!

@@VSGAnn2014 You've GOTTA admit, comparatively, it's on the slower side for WLS patients. I'm just going off the multiple people I see who had more to lose and have reached goal within a year. You're into stats. You can't deny that. Honestly, I'm not complaining. I'm happy with my loss. I know have exceeded the average % of excess weight at this point. And I know not comparing myself to others is always preached...even by me, lol. But yes, dammit! I'm impatient!!

I had a 3 pound gain this weekend too, the most ever since surgery. I'm used to a pound or two bounce, but the 3 freaked me out, because I've been hungry lately, and definitely eating a bit more. Turns out it was just Water or something, because I was almost back to before by Monday. I just drank a shit load of water to flush my system and was more mindful of my snacking. As of this morning, I'm down another pound. By the way, it's going to take me over a year to lose 85 pounds. Is it completely annoying that my weight loss has been slower? HELL YES. But I just deal with the hand given to me and forge ahead. What choice do I have? This is my one and only chance to live a healthy life, and I choose to fight for that. It doesn't mean I've not wanted to give up many, many times. But you've just gotta keep swimming to get there!

I've seen some say the emphasis is more for the AFTER you eat, and have even seen a 5 minute timeline before eating. Go ahead and eat. One time won't kill you.

Food on the brain! 6 days post-op
Babbs replied to alisawoo22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, once I started solid food, the head hunger stopped. Head hunger SUCKS. But I was on liquids post surgery for 6 weeks. That's another story -
Restriction post op!
Babbs replied to jademanke@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, you'll feel it when you start solid food. I used to say "Did he even DO the surgery?!" But the first time I had refried Beans and cheese and could only eat 3 spoonfuls, I knew -
How did you know?
Babbs replied to Soon2beslimSamantha's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Like I said, I know my husband did well with the bypass and had zero problems. He also lost weight pretty rapidly. About 120 pounds in a little over a year. He has kept most of it off for 8 years now. If you suffer from severe reflux, I would go with the bypass. If you want a little more rapid weight loss? Some sleevers will disagree with me, but I think weight loss is faster with the bypass. I often wonder if mine would have been faster if I'd have gone with the bypass (my husband seems to think so) but as I've jokingly said before, I have the metabolism of a koala bear, lol. -
How did you know?
Babbs replied to Soon2beslimSamantha's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
All of the above In my late 40's, and at heaviest was put on high blood pressure medication and Metformin for diabetes. That was pretty much the last straw. I had a pretty good knowledge of bariatric surgery already, because my husband had a Gastric bypass 8 years earlier and has done really well. I wanted the sleeve because I liked the idea of not having a malabsorbtion issue. I made the leap August 22 of last year, and haven't looked back. Almost 80 pounds lost, and 6 pounds to goal. So happy I did it! Hasn't been easy sometimes, but so worth it. -
Nope. People lose at their own pace. 10 pounds down in 10 days is a pound a day. That's great. And it sounds like you are doing great with your calories and walking. I know it's hard getting your shakes and fluids in at first because everything is so swollen, but keep doing your best. You want to stay hydrated. Keep plugging along and don't get discouraged. If you need to, stay off the scale for a while so it doesn't drive you crazy

Gained most of my weight back
Babbs replied to frumpy69's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Seriously. Between "shaming" and "triggering", I really think that there are some out there that need to grow a set. I'm offended. You're shame shaming me. -
Lots of reasons....surgeons surgical style, how much swelling the sleeve has after surgery, people's level of pain tolerance, age, other health issues....the list goes on and on! Why does anyone react differently to anything?

Embarrassing tummy picture 8 months post-op!
Babbs replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Looks like mine. Except mine's even flabbier -
I think if I would have followed Ann's plan, I would have been to goal by now. Months 4-7 I was only getting 600-800 calories, and it really slowed things down for me. I was stalling all the time and barely losing. There was one month where I only lost 2 pounds! Not until I took some advice and looked at what she was doing did I smarten up and increased my calories to 1000 and now to 1200. Since then, I've been pretty steady and only had one or two tiny stalls. Now I'm 6 pounds to goal. But yes, everyone is different too

Oh well shoot. I've lost less than that in 2 months! I've got the metabolism of a koala. -

@@globetrotter So what gives? Is there something physically wrong with you causing you to not be able to lose weight or lose it so slowly? Has it been addressed with your doctor?
