    My Guy LIKES big Women...

I know chemistry is important, and people are attracted to a certain type more than others, BUT.... If the person you are with truly loves you, they will stay with and love you through thick and thin. Literally. I mean, I've been with my husband for 28 years. He's seen me fat, skinny, fat again, skinny again, getting wrinkles, sagging skin. He still can't keep his hands off of me
  2. Mmmmm. Dunkin Donuts coffee...... (In my best Homer Simpson voice)
  3. Do you like tomato soup? Because I loved tomato bisque during my liquid phase. Any bisque, really. Lobster bisque is really good, too. If you go to some of the higher end grocery stores, you can find some really good soups in their deli's. I tried to stay away from the canned stuff and stuck to the homemade or deli soups just to get better taste and a little less sodium.
  4. Most of us were given those rules. And most of us don't follow them. Those were mine from my surgeon, also. I have severe reflux, so I try to keep the caffinated coffee to a minimum, but I do have 1 to 2 cups a day and have since about 3 weeks out. No more, no less. Caffeine is just one of those things I just wasn't willing to give up. It's also one of those grey areas for a lot of NUT's and surgeons. Some allow it, some don't. As far as alcohol, I've only imbibed twice since surgery. Once at 4 months out around the holidays (a Bloody Mary I didn't even finish) and a couple of Mai Tai's in Hawaii at a Luau at 8 months out. I wasn't much of a drinker before surgery, and now that my reflux has gotten worse, I'm pretty much choosing not to drink unless it's a very special occasion. Plus I hate drinking calories (with the exception of protien shakes). Of course I'm not advocating for you to go against your surgeons orders. But from my experience, many do when it comes to caffeine and alcohol because there's such a discrepancy on the time lines with so many surgeons.
  5. With all due respect to those of you (some veterans) saying she's allowed to have her opinion about how she feels about WLS.... Of COURSE she is! The objection that I and several others have expressed is her using deluded facts and falsehoods in her post for her objections to WLS. Like I said, if she would have just posted how she felt unprepared for the surgery and now she feels she made a mistake, this would have been a whole other thread. And no, berating and name calling should not be tolerated no matter what the subject. I apologize to the OP for my first post.
  6. @@JamieLogical And congrats to you! You've worked so hard to get where you are. I know every pound for you hasn't been easy, so you've earned this for sure!
  7. Yes, at some point, the honeymoon will be over and restriction seems less and the cravings and hunger may return. That's why it's so important to cement healthy eating habits during the all important honeymoon period when restriction is great and hunger is at a minimum.
  8. @@The Candidate Sorry if you mentioned it before and I didn't catch it, but have how much have you lost so far? Or do you know yet? You are such a great example of how staying positive can help so much in recovery, by the way

Why Am I Dropping Weight So Slowly?

You're doing just great! How much we lose at first all depends on a lot of different things....starting weight (the lower the starting weight, the less lost at first) age, gender (males lose SO MUCH FASTER!) . Yeah, a pound a day is great for the first few weeks. But don't expect that rate of loss to continue. Expect a stall soon (the dreaded 3 week stall) and after that, the weight loss happens at a more "normal" rate (2-4 pounds a week). Just follow your plan, keep hydrated, move a little, and you should continue to lose at a fairly steady pace. Try not to compare yourself to others, either. Good luck and congrats!

    proudgrammy is very proud

Yay @@proudgrammy! I bet you look simply amazing! You go, girl! Take care of yourself, and be the best you can be! I won't be opposed to a little nip/tuck when the time comes, either I'm glad everything went well for you aside form the little pain and side effects from the anesthetic. Pics! Pics! We want pics of your beautiful face!
  11. Yeah, no. If that's what you got out of some of the responses, then you really didn't read them. Yeah, I read some. And that is what I got out of them. You've already called me an a*****e in one of my threads, so I am just going to chalk your reply up to another insult. Do this for me, on the upper right side of your screen click on your user name Then click on Manage Ignore Prefs. Then type in BigViffer and click save. I don't put anybody on ignore. No need. I don't let people get under my skin like some people do. Life is too short.

I am a bottomless pit today!

I HATE those days! Some days I barely feel like eating, and others I could eat all day long and have to restrain myself, lol. Although I don't have periods anymore, I really think it hormones for me, too. Hang in there! We all need a good whine once in a while, lol.
  13. Weight: 156 Height: 5'5" Jean size: Not sure, but between 8 and 10 Size: 8 Because it's summer, all my size 8's are in the form of shorts and capri's, lol. I'm in a medium skirt and medium tops. I haven't bought a pair of jeans yet this size, but depending on the brand, I'm sure it's an 8 up to a 10. Now I'm curious, and will have to try some on the next time I go shopping! I know I was just talking to a gal on here (I wish I could remember who it was) who's stats are very similar to mine who was in a 6 jeans. I think she was even shorter than I am. There's no way I could wear a 6 right now! I'm built very *ahem* curvy. I'm all boobs and tummy, lol. I really think my "pooch" (as I call my panni) affects the size I wear, too. You can see it pretty well in the pic in the skirt. The other pic is me in my workout clothes.
  14. Yeah, no. If that's what you got out of some of the responses, then you really didn't read them.
  15. @ Like I said, the real travesty here is that you rushed into this surgery like so many others thinking it was going to be the miracle cure for your obesity. If you would have done your homework, you would have understood the good, the bad, and the ugly before hand, and it would have helped you make a better decision. This is why I truly believe there should be mandatory waiting period (aside from insurance requirements) for WLS to educate and then evaluate whether the person is ready for this life changing surgery. I suspect there would be a lot less surgeries performed, because I see people who flat out weren't ready to make the changes needed after the surgery every day on here. Oh, and yes I'm on this site every day. Your little dig about how you're a busy "professional" and don't have time to be on this site all the time is just another example of how you have no idea how to use the tool given to you properly. Studies show that people who find support (wherever it may be) are more likely to be successful with the surgery. This site is a touchstone and source of support for many, many people, including me. And I too am a busy working professional. I have absolutely nothing against you personally. What I do have an issue with is you coming onto a site that offers support to so many who are reaching out and spewing falsehoods and flat out lies about WLS and claiming it to be gospel. If you would have just said "Look guys, I screwed up. I didn't know what I was getting into and now I'm over my head and think I've made a huge mistake", you would have gotten a completely different response. But you coming on here and basically telling people who have had or are going to have WLS that they too have made or are going to make a mistake is where I draw the line. Good luck to you.
  16. I am 11 months post op, and have lost 79 pounds. I'm 6 pound to goal. Losing 10 pounds a month would have been a dream! I only averaged 2-7 pounds a month. Sure, it's slower compared to some. But I will be at my goal at little over a year out. I may go for a stretch goal, and that will take me another month or two. But absolutely none of that is going to matter in another year, is it? What matters is I got to a healthy weight that I can hopefully maintain for the rest of my life. And from what I gather, this is a cakewalk compared to maintenance! It's not a race to get to the finish line so I can relax and go back to my old habits like I did before. It's for the rest of my life. In the end, who cares how long it takes when you're looking at the big picture?
  17. And that's exactly what people who are completely uneducated about WLS say..... And unfortunately, even people who have had it can be woefully uneducated. And that is the real travesty here.
  18. *Ahem* This post is so full of bullshit, I don't even know where to start.....
  19. You just had major surgery. Yes, things hurt. Like @@ivarae said, do some walking (although it is hard when you're hurting) and take your pain meds. Each day should improve for you. Give it a couple weeks and you should feel much better. I'd say the pain should diminish this weekend.
  20. @@lynneanne What is your diet like? How many grams of protien are you getting a day? And how many calories? Are you tracking? I'm sure we would all love to help you out if we can by giving you some advice if you would like?
  21. Nope, I totally think you are onto something. Same thing happens to me. I think as the weight loss "moves along", so do other things It's all a balance of keeping everything running smoothly like a fat burning, poop going machine.
  22. Girl, don't be a hero. Use that pain pump! It kept me comfortable becuase I never let the pain get ahead of me. Press it as much as you need!

Yes, This is a repeat topic

That's interesting, @jenn1. I started at 4 months, stopped at 8 months, and recently started again and I was really perplexed as to why it started again at 11 months out?? You may have given me the answer! Either way, I have started Nioxin, and it seems to be helping. Luckily, my hair is (was lol) pretty thick, so it's not too noticeable to anyone else except me and my hairdresser. But man is it dry and brittle, too! It's like straw right now!
  24. I saw Dr Weiner (he has videos on Youtube and he's awesome) do this calculation, although I didn't like it much because I felt it was super unrealistic for me, lol. For a female, it's 100 pounds for every 5 feet. Then add 5 pounds for every inch over 5 feet. So I'm 5'5": 5 feet =100 +5 inches × 5= 25 So my ideal weight supposedly is 125lbs. I started at 235. That would mean I have 110 pounds to lose. 110 pounds × 65% (what they say to expect) would be 71 pounds. Like I said, that's one calculation, but I find the "ideal" weight unrealistic. My goal is 150 pounds. Hope you got all that!
