@@LipstickLady Oh man, you're telling me! I BARELY lost any of them! It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't hang to my knees without a bra on.....

The ones that choose not to post pics have valid points. Just like choosing to tell or not to tell about the surgery, some are just more private than others. And yes, a simple reverse Google image search will more than likely lead straight to this site. I, on the other hand, am an open book. To a fault sometimes, lol. So here is mine:

How many ounces of meat can you eat at 1 year post op?

Seriously considering getting sleeved
Babbs replied to AmyNLaynie6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slower but steady Very happy with the sleeve, but your concerns are valid. I do honestly think people lose faster with the RNY. And because I have GERD, I sometimes wish I would have gone with the RNY. But like I said, the sleeve was the best choice for me because of my aversion to taking vitamins, lol. -
Popcorn is way down the road. I would say at least a few months. You can't take the chance of a kernel getting lodged in the staple line along your new sleeve. There is no nutritional value to popcorn, anyway. You need nutrient rich foods the first few months to keep that muscle you'll be losing along with the weight.

What's your "weight loss pet peeve?"

What the heck is going on with this site lately? It sure has been getting spammed by a lot of people with other intentions....mostly just advertisements for services but still. I have a feeling 'ol Chuckster was either a troll or a spammer. He sure liked the word "glutton".

Does anyone forget they have been sleeved when you make food choices? Lol thread!
Babbs replied to nomorechubbybutt63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to do it all the time. Along with automatically popping something in my mouth I wasn't supposed to have early out. I did that a lot, lol. Old habits die hard. As time goes on, food will almost be an afterthought believe it or not. It takes time getting to the point where it isn't the center of our universe anymore. -
Seriously considering getting sleeved
Babbs replied to AmyNLaynie6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@dancingqueene I personally wanted the sleeve due to the malabsorbtion issues with the RNY. I am a TERRIBLE Vitamin taker, and I knew it was something I was going to have to do for the rest of my life with the RNY. With the sleeve, you don't necessarily have to continue the mega Vitamins prescribed to you at first as you should be able to get most of them from food over time. I just take Vitamin D now at almost a year out. This is JUST MY OPINION, but I think RNY is better served for people with larger amounts to lose. My husband had one 9 years ago and lost 120 pounds and has kept most of it off. A few issues with B12 as of late, but has had no other problems otherwise. -
It's a little too soon. Chewing it well enough isn't the issue, but digesting it is. You still have a staple line in your stomach that needs to heal. Surely it's not on your list of approved foods? If it's not, then don't eat it. You can wait. You're going to.have to learn how to delay gratification with this process. A lot. May as well get used to it now.

@@OKCPirate I usually did at first, but I found myself sipping before and after my meal just because it was there, so I just thought it would be easier not to order one at all. Little did I know it seems to completely blow servers minds for some reason, lol. -
You read this site, you see person after person who has had success with the surgery. It far outweighs the ones who don't. I don't know about you, but I like those odds. If your head is in the game, especially during the honeymoon period, you can pretty much take it as far as you want to go.

WEDDING PLANNING and WLS????????????
Babbs replied to Sandra86says's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why would having WLS keep you from having a wedding? I know it's a big change, but at 6 or 7 months out when you get married, you will be pretty much eating anything at that point (or know what you can't tolerate). It really only turns your world upside down the first couple months as you're healing and trying to get all your protien and fluids in and navigating what you can and a cannot tolerate. But soon you feel back to normal, just with restriction. As far as the dress, that's what seamstresses are for. You're just going to have to do last minute alterations. Most people do. But if you think juggling the wedding planning and WLS is going to be overwhelming for you, by all means postpone it. Stress makes people wanna eat, and if that may be an issue for you, I would say yeah, wait another year when you should be at or close to your goal weight and well into maintenance. -
Why Getting Sleeved was the Biggest Mistake of My Life
Babbs replied to a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Actually what the OP said is 100% correct. I was going to get sleeved or mini bypass. They wanted me to go on Medifast but luckily for me my PT (was rehabilitating a knee injury) talked me out of it. When my knee was better I joined a gym that had a weight loss program. They taught me all about metabolism. All any type off weight loss surgery does is restrict how much you can eat and/or causes mal-absorption of nutrients. They gave me the immutable facts of nutrition and how to safely restrict calories. At over 300 pounds is was eating. These were my numbers: Resting (basal) metabolic rate: 3502 calories per day Typical daily activities: 1576 calories per day Total calories burned: 5078 per day I was taking in 5000 calories per day when I should have been eating a whole lot less Resting (basal) metabolic rate: 2026 calories per day Typical daily activities: 1208 calories per day Total calories burned: 3235 per day I increased my activity but mostly I stopped eating the typical American diet and now I will never go back to that vulgar lifestyle. I safely lost weight and my perfectly healthy digestive system is still intact. I'm now eat responsibly because it is the right thing to do for me, my loved ones and society at large. The fact is, like most people I was a glutton. When I admitted that I knew what I needed to do so I did it. It was actually quite easy. Hey, guess what? I learned how to eat responsibly, exercise properly, reset my metabolic rate too! I too, don't follow the typical American diet. 95% of the time, I don't eat processed food, and eat nothing but lean protien, nuts, legumes, fruits and veggies. I rarely eat sweets. I feel the healthiest I've felt in over 20 years. And I had (GASP) weight loss surgery! So you do you, I'll do me, and we'll all go on living happily ever after. Sound good? -

Another Stall Post.....How Many Calories Do You Consume?
Babbs replied to Slim-Shady's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You're not doing anything wrong. A stall early out is so common, it even has a name (The Dreaded 3 Week Stall). The body is just adjusting to the fast weight loss and lack of calories. Right now your job is to worry about hydration and protien, not calories. That will come a little later out. Give yourself time to heal, stay hydrated and get that protien in and the stalls will pass. -
One week post op - things I've come to know
Babbs replied to GaNanny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Dawn306 From what I've seen, the older folks do just as well and heal just as quickly as the younger ones do. I'm 48 (47 when I had surgery) and had little pain and healed up great. I will tell you that weight loss can be a little slower with us "older" ladies. Not always. It was with me for sure. -
To this day, at almost a year out (wow its weird saying that) fish still is the best as far as causing no issues. Shrimp and crab, too. For that reason, I eat a lot of it. Great protein, low fat and calories. Can't beat that!

A healthy relationship with food shouldn't make you feel guilty. If you are eating right and feel good about what you're putting into your mouth the other 95% of the time, little indulgences here and there should not make you feel guilty. Shame and guilt after eating is the old us. The new us loves the fact that we are eating healthy most of the time, and we don't associate food with guilt anymore.
