Smoking! surgery 2 weeks away
Babbs replied to lealor's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like @@Shustar, I quit using the vape a couple months before surgery. Just kept cutting back on the nicotine until I was down to 0. Then I eventually lost interest in the vape. But it really helps with the oral fixation fix you really need when you quit smoking. -
Book Review - Alex Brecher's The BIG Book on Bariatric Surgery
Babbs replied to joatsaint's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Great book, easy read. One of the first books I read on the subject. I should really give it another look again now that I've had the surgery to get a different perspective. Great review! Thanks, Randy! ( I really wish I knew more people's real names here) -
My husband is my food buddy. He had a bypass 9 years ago, and although he can pretty much eat normal portions now, since I had my surgery we split our meals at restaraunts. It keeps him in check with his portions, and helps our wallet. Win win!

Worried I'm not losing enough
Babbs replied to April4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, I get it. There's nothing more un motivating than not seeing the scale move (or barely move). I've been there. But this is where moxy comes in. You gotta dig deep and ask yourself how bad do you want it? If the answer is DAMMIT YOU WANT IT then you work that much harder to get it! You can do this! Keep us posted! -
I agree with @jenn1. You do your journey, let her do hers. If she fails, she fails. No reflection on you whatsoever. Have your sugery and lead by example. Show her how it's done!

Worried I'm not losing enough
Babbs replied to April4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First off, if you've lost in the last months, it's not a stall. A stall is when the scale doesn't move. You're just experiencing a slow down in weight loss. Second, 80 pounds is really great! You should be proud of yourself! How much we lose is so individual, and is dependent on so many variables (age, gender, any medical conditions, etc) you just can't compare yourself to others. It will drive you crazy. I know by experience. If you want to get things moving along again, I suggest you take a good hard look at your plan overall. Are you tracking every bite? Measuring out your portions? Staying away from processed food and keeping carbs to mostly fruits and veggies? Do you you routinely exercise? Getting enough Water and protien? If you answered no to any of those questions, then that may be the issue. Take each of those things I listed, and start implementing them. For the next couple weeks, do nothing but lean protien and veggies for every meal. If you have to snack, keep it to nuts, cheese or yogurt. Keep your diet clean and natural, and stay way from as much sugar as possible. Unfortunately, you gotta get a little stricter when you hit slow downs and stalls. You have to really take inventory and really be honest about what you're eating and doing to cause things to slow down and stall. Have you let white carbs and a little too much sugar slip into your diet? I know ot happens to me, and that's when I know I have to nip it in the bud to get things moving along again. Good luck! -

Hi everyone... new girl here!
Babbs replied to LadiSani's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Lol, "It's about time?". That comment would be way too supportive. Here's a sampling of some of the REAL comments people hear: "Surgery? That's taking the EASY way out" "Why don't you just try to diet and exercise?" "My friends sister's best friends aunt had weight loss surgery, and she gained all her weight back" "I know someone who DIED because of weight loss surgery. And that was AFTER they gained all their weight back!" Obviously that last one is tongue and cheek, but you get the idea. -
@@nicolewilliams Your sister would want you to live a long, healthy life. Get some therapy, get back to basics, and live the best life you can possibly live in her honor.

Don't feed the troll, folks. Unless it's an Arby's Jr bacon cheddar melt. -
It's very important to to cement healthy eating habits during the all important "honeymoon" period (6-18 months post surgery) while restriction is great and hunger is low. After time, the sleeve will lose its effectiveness, so if you haven't changed your eating habits, you are at a very high risk for weight gain. It's not magic. You've got to work the tool so it will work for you.

All It Takes Is A Year To Change Your Life! (96Lbs Down)
Babbs replied to HalloweenBaby24's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm so jealous of your young skin. You hardly have any sagging. Your tummy looks amazing! Anyway, congrats! You weren't too far behind me with your surgery and I've followed your journey since and you've done so great! You look amazing. -
Recovery with Children - Lifting Heavy Objects
Babbs replied to Erica Kaufman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is there another member of the family that can help you out with them? Do the heavy lifting for you? Also, you may not be able to lift them, but I'm sure they can climb into your lap for a snuggle? Or have someone put them into your lap so you can hold them. Just because you can't tote them around doesn't mean you can't sit with them, lay in bed with them, play on the floor with them, etc.... If anything, it will help them become a little more independent. That's a good thing for babies on the verge of toddlerhood. I assure you that you will not cause any damage by not being able to pick them up for 6 weeks, lol. Ah, mothers guilt. What would we all do without it. -
Do exactly what you're doing. Measure out your portion, and stop when you're done (or feel satiated). Put the rest away. It takes some getting used to, but you'll get the hang of it.

Coke Zero pre op diet

False. Old wives tale. Especially with the sleeve. -
This thread is magical. Are we sure that isn't Donald Trump trolling a WLS site?

Coke Zero pre op diet
Babbs replied to John Michaels's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drank it right up until surgery. I figured I would be heavily medicated during my withdrawal period, anyway. With everything else going on after surgery, I didn't even notice the withdrawal Of course, like Jamie, I was counting the days until I could have caffine again -
@@VSGAnn2014 Mind. Blown. As someone who used to volunteer for hospice many years ago, you aren't going to find many more people who have their shit together more than the dying. And they are as unhealthy (physically) as you can get.

@@Elode You're like my sister. She just recently lost 50 pounds, and she loses a lot in her face. She (although she's quite a bit older than you) has such a thin face now like you. It's awesome, because I still feel my face looks chubby sometimes in pictures. If I could just lose a little more in my face and my boobs, lol!

@@LipstickLady You were gorgeous before, but smokin' now. And your girls are stunning (and I don't mean your boobs) You either have Greek or Italian heritage? Or no? You're so...exotic. You probably hear that all the time.

Think Siri, but with more of a judgmental tone I dunno. That Siri, she can really be a little b**** sometimes.
