wanting to go back to a normal life
Susan Beckman posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So i am almost 6 weeks out and this has been a nightmare. I have had a feeding tube and now i am on TPN. I am now eating but doctor will not remove PICC line just in case. I am handling food ok with just a little nausea. I can not do the excersise I want because of the PICC line, its driving me crazy. The TPN made me gain 8 pounds. I have cut back on my infusions on my own because it makes me ill and I want to see how my blood work is off of it. I just want to get back to life. I now have to see my therapist 2x a week due to depression and they think that my vomiting may be a disconnect between my brain and stomach at this point because I started out post op vomiting. I still regret doing this so bad. -
Well I think its time to fincd a nother surgeon. I have been throwing stuff up for weeks adn my surgeon put me in the hospital to start TPN and let me go yesterday. Did not get aot of instructions about it. I am feeling nauseas and absolutely no energy. Not getting any answers or helpful advise. HELPPPPP

Buyers Remorse? Emotional?
Susan Beckman replied to hope1212's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally understand. I am 6 weeks out and I have felt that way since surgery. MAJOR regrets!!! Had so many complications. Now that feeling is starting to go away because i am getting on track and feel a little better. I have lost almost 60 pounds and my clothes are way toooooo big, down 12 sizes. I am now seeing a change but still have a hard time with seeing the fat me and not the smaller me. Just hang in there, once you start feeling better and get further along I think you will see things differently. -
Think I am getting over the hump
Susan Beckman posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It has been a long haul since surgery with complications and such but I think I have turned the corner. I am now holding my food and liquid down. Still feel a little nauseas but nothing like before. Not having alot of pain anymore. I actually got on the scale and have lost 4 more pounds. Thats a total of 57 pounds. Still have some work to do to get where I am suppose to be but almost there and I am HUNGRY. Just waiting for the doctor to give me the go ahead on advancing to a normal diet because I will be 6 weeks out this Wednesday. -
I will b 4 weeks out Thursday and still feel like crap!!!! Feel like something is stuck in my throat and see ENT tommorrow. Soooooo nauseas!!!! Haven't went to the bathroom in 4 days and not passing gas. The area around the largest incision on my left side is hurting so bad and my left shoulder. Everybody says I am fine but have not kept food or medicine down in a week and half. Acutally got my paramedic co-worker to start a couple IV's on me to keep me hydrated. Surgeon says everything is ok. Well fine!!! I quit!!! I will never complain about anything ever again!!!!! Soooo regretting this surgery!!!!!

Diabetes GONE! A1c is.........
Susan Beckman replied to BabySheldon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still considered diabetic but get my 1st post op A1C next Tuesday. I came off 6 shots a day before surgery and take nothing right now. My sugars run between 88-120. I am so anxious to find out what the number is and what my doctor says. It was 10.6 before surgery. -
Giving my concerns a voice!
Susan Beckman replied to TatorTot's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
your definately not alone. I am a country Italian lol and I loved to eat, but it was literally killing me. I have diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and a couple other things. I thought I would have a hard time giving up my favorites but honestly I do not even feel like eating since surgery. I have to admit though, occassionally I get a hankoring for a big ole hamburger. I just grab a popcicle and keep moving on. It will be an adjustment but sooo worth it. I am a little over 3 weeks out and off all my insulin. I get moody alot but that is normal I think. I have regreted the surgery at times but again that I think is normal. Don't b discouraged by your doubts. You need to just make your mind up and just move ahead and do not look back. If you do not think you can handle the aftermath please do not set yourself up for failure. I believe in keeping it real and I would never attempt to talk anyone into this surgery. It is alot of work and a lifetime committment. You have to know that you know that you know, this is what you want. Good Luck. -
I am 3 weeks post op today. Still feeling very tired and like something is stuck in my throat all the time. I can eat yogurt, cheese, eggs and some pureed stuff. I am stil crying al the time because I feel yucky. Plus I have lost 12 sizes and cannot get used to being smaller. I feel like I am losing my mind. I went to my counselor yesterday and it helped. I feel like my doctor is blowing me off about how I feel so I quit calling and complaining about anything. Plus I noticed last night that 1 of my incisions has 2 little plastic things coming from it. I guess they are sutures but again getting the blow off and no return phone calls. I am so ready to just throw in the towel.

3 weeks out
Susan Beckman replied to Susan Beckman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes i have seen him twice because I had complications. I had a feeding tube for a week and have had fainting spells. Also lots of abdominal pain but he just looks at me funny and says he doesnt think its surgery related. So I go to ER and told them surgeon doesnt think its surgery related and get told that noone will touch me because I just had this surgery. So I am sooo screwed. This was the worst mistake of my life. -
Things I want for my life
Susan Beckman replied to Gettinsmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
love this post.... I want so much in my life, but I think the big one is to find someone who will appreciate the journey I have went on. My husband pased away in 2008 from suicide and I have not dated anyone since. I have always been self-conscious about my weight, but now I am excited at the fact I may be found attractive to someone. My only big goal is that I do not want to change my personality or seem different from weight loss. My crazy ways and attitude is one of the things that have attracted so many people in mylife. The 2nd would be to wear a bathing suit without a coverup with it lol. 3.I want to walk in a store and n be able to look at the clothes that are in style. So I am not asking for too much. lol -
I have never cried soooo much..
Susan Beckman posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 17 days out and I have noticed such a major change in my clothes and my body, as well as other people. I literally fell apart yesterday and this morning just thinking about not looking the same. Yes it is crazy, I know but I have never been small by no means and seeing myself differently is hard for me. I fit in a pair of shorts that are 5 sizes smaller and I started crying and got all depressed. Someone please tell me this is normal and that I amnot going nuts. Please tell me this depression stuff ends soon. -
I had a really bad pain in my stomach last night. I got up to go to bathroom and woke up in the midle of my floor. I must have passed out. This morning was coming up the steps and after first flight I ad the same pain in belly. Got to the top of the steps and hit the floor again. I do not want to call my doctor because I have had so many problems and I think he is getting tired of dealing with me.
