Body Aches and pains before and after surgery
jbyler replied to FineCaliMexSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could barely walk due to knee pain before my surgery. After my knees are good but I do get a lot of pain in the back hips & tailbone area now. I have gone to the chiropractor and it has helped some. He said that due to losing weight some things shift out of place occasionally because my joints and bones are used to supporting the big me. I blame the tailbone for not having as much cushion as I once did. -

I hit my first mini goal I set for myself!! So excited. I lost 54 pounds since surgery & 50 was my goal. I was afraid I was losing to slow but my dr is pleased and says I'm doing well. The big plus was all my blood work came back good so I'm getting all the vitamins & nutrients I need. Somethings have been a struggle but well worth it -
What's the timeline for eating some of these typical foods?
jbyler replied to hrhlaurie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My nut told me to buy the flat out breads to make a pizza on. They have like 9 grams of protein in them & I have made them for dinner. Very tasty but I couldn't even eat half of one lol. -
300+ To Loose... Just Got My Surgery Date
jbyler replied to measureofme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am now down 34 pounds since surgery. I think it's kinda slow & should be more. My surgery was April 3rd. I am definitely under 400 pounds now which is great but was hoping for quicker results. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I am so afraid I am one of the ones that the surgery isn't going to help. -

. I made spaghetti squash & it was actually really good. Slightly different texture than past but didn't make me think I wasn't actually eating spaghetti which by the way is my favorite meal! -
I was sleeved on April 3rd. I just got a stomach bug that has been going around work. The dr prescribed me anti-nausea meds before I was discharged from the hospital. I have not thrown up at all until this morning. Now I'm afraid to eat anything. When I drink I get nauseous and the dry heaves but nothing comes up. Does anyone know if I would be ok to take the meds? I just remembered about having them now.

Finally got weighed today. Friday got messed up so it didn't happen then. Well the verdict is I lost 4 pounds since may 6th. Kinda bummed with the low number but still excited I'm losing if that makes sense. I was sleeved April 3rd and have lost 30 pounds since then. -

Being able to ride amusement park rides take a walk with my daughter on the beach fitting into a booth at a restaurant shopping anywhere I feel like it & not having to use the electric scooter! There are many more but those are top on my list -
Over 400Lbs Gastric Sleeve Success Story

I'm going to get weighed tomorrow. I'm kinda nervous. Hoping I still am losing and not in a stall. I have been following the plan for the most part but I did have a couple bites of my husbands ice cream last week. So far everything has gone down great & nothing has came back up. This will only be the third time I have been weighed since my surgery on 4/3. So far I have lost 26 pounds & hoping I can add to that soon. Sorry for the rant just feeling nervous. -
4 weeks post-op and sooooo fatigued
jbyler replied to SuperNova's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am also extremely tired. I am 5 weeks out. I just started back to work today then went to my daughters softball game straight after that and am totally played out. Not even the energy for a shower tonight so that will wait until morning. I am really hoping once I get back into my routine I feel more energy. I am getting at least 60 grams of protein in a day and taking my vitamins but still physically played out. -
7 weeks post op - success and struggles
jbyler replied to Jaime_Boston's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Tonight was my daughters prom. After we went to see all the kids my hubby thought we should stop to eat somewhere. Well I ordered a grilled chicken salad. I had about 4 bites then I felt awful. I don't know what it was with the salad but for at least an hour afterwards I had pain in my stomach & then gas. I made sure I had chicken in every bite so I don't know what caused it. The waitress did look at me weird when I asked for a to go container and the manager came over to make everything was ok. 7 weeks ago I would have ate the whole thing plus the bread that comes with it lol. -

Walmart had it. It was what my dr suggested I use and it was tasty. Even my picky family enjoyed it. -
7 weeks post op - success and struggles

I actually made pizza last night for dinner using the flat out bread. It has 7 grams of protein in it. After I added the veggies & turkey pepperoni & low fat cheese mfp said it had a total of 32 grams of protein!! I even sprinkled a little unflavored protein powder on it after the sauce for a boost. Of course I could not eat more than a third of one but still was really good & set really well in my stomach. -
It's so good to read that it's not all wonderful for everyone right away. It really gives me hope. I'm thankful for all the support I get on here. Knowing I'm not alone with these feelings this first month makes thinks easier.

I am 4 weeks post op & still have a nasty taste on my mouth. I am forever brushing my teeth & using mouthwash but it's still there. I have read that others have had the same issue. Does anyone know how long this will last?
-
I also am 4 weeks post op & regretting it. It's like all I think about now is food and if I can eat that & if my family is going to complain about dinner. I'm sick of the added stress this has put on me. I was on a dr program for 10 months before I had my sleeve and thought I was really prepared for this. Everyone says how wonderful they feel but I am not feeling wonderful at all. I'm tired nonstop I can't even get a shower without being extremely played out. I am getting at least 60g of protein a day & about 64oz of fluid if not more. Walking a couple miles a day like some people say they are doing is a joke. I'm lucky if I can go 10 minutes on the treadmill. I just want to feel like I'm normal. I did this so I would feel normal & be able to be there and be healthier for myself and my family but as of now I'm still wondering why I did all this to myself.

Food Stuck in Staple Line and Infection
jbyler replied to TheWigster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also told to avoid seeds and even strawberries for 3 months because of this. My nut said the seeds from strawberries can be very harmful. -
I actually have an appointment on the 6th with the nut again and I plan on asking for lots of recipes. I love to cook also but with my work schedule & my daughters activities it's hard to do a nice family meal a lot of evenings. My husband is trying to be supportive but I know he is getting sick of eating chicken & chili lol. I can't wait until I can eat salads but I was warned it might take up to 3 months to be able to tolerate it.
-
I am also struggling with this. I just don't know what to eat!! I literally hate eating now. I am almost 4 weeks out and I am really having regrets. I can't handle the protein shakes so I'm practically living on Isopure & string cheese. I get my protein in but I don't know what to make for my family for dinner. I am right now sitting here trying to find something online & stressing out.

Oh my I don't know what I am doing wrong. I am almost 4 weeks post op & following my plan from my dr but it seems everytime I try to eat something I pay for it. My stomach hurts like crazy! I chew very well don't drink with my meals & try to eat slowly. I don't know if my stomach is just not ready yet or what. I don't know if I'm eating too much I don't really feel a restriction just miserable after I eat. Any advice would be helpful.

When to start swallowing pills?
jbyler replied to tarahuff82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr had me swallowing pills the day of my surgery. The first time the nurse asked me if I wanted to swallow it or have it in my IV I chose IV but the next dose I swallowed with no problems -
I just cant do the protien shakes! Help!
jbyler replied to FAWife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree the Isopure is the only thing getting me through. All the different shakes I tried were just a waste of money since I couldn't drink any of them without feeling like I was going to get sick.
