*MALE ONLY* How Frequetnly Did You Drop Sizes?
defibvt replied to illailla's topic in The Guys’ Room
I am a nurse and was wearing 2XL scrubs, people were complimenting me on my weight loss but stating I needed to get me scrubs. I waited until I stabilized a bit and bought size L scrubs. In my casual life I would wander through the nearest thrift store for new clothes and 'dream' clothes. Again now that I've stabilized my weight I am slowly working to replace my clothes. My big purchase so far was replacing my leather coat... good luck on your journey -
@@kitcamper78 one day at a time! Good luck on this journey!!!

Awesome and congratulations

My only regret is not doing the surgery earlier.

@@SpeakerSpeaking I was a 1 or 2 52 ounce diet coke, coke zero or diet mountain dew before surgery. I tried going cold turkey and within a day I was having terrible head aches, ones that Tylenol or ibuprofen wouldn't touch. I felt defeated. I was still drinking at least a 2 liter bottle of my diet sodas a day, even on my pre op diet. I had a diet coke, the night before my surgery, one final farewell. I had my surgery, I never had a head ache or any other withdrawal symptoms. I have not had a diet soft drink since... I do enjoy some unsweetened tea and I do have an occasional cup of coffee, but never have I gone to the extreme I was before surgery.

Since my insurance specifically did not cover Bariatric surgery, I was a private pay and did not have to jump through the hoops like the supervised diet, the cardiac stress test, psych eval... that has been required by other people with insurance. Good luck @@SpeakerSpeaking

@@PdxMan That is something Pavlov taught his dogs! LOL -
PPI's tend to have an indication for the treatment of reflux, where H2 blockers (Zantac, Pepcid) do not.

Long Term Sleeve and Bypass updates from the guys.
defibvt replied to SamBwaR3's topic in The Guys’ Room
My me, the long term health issues and malabsorption issues with the full bypass, turned me away from it. I am a year out and happy with my choice, -
I have used Omeprazole since surgery (March 2015). I have since had my followup with my PCP and he wrote me a prescription for it (it ends up being cheaper than buying it over the counter).

Hey Phill.... Hope everything went OKAY!!!

Good luck Kyle on your journey!!! You have friends here!!

First of all, I wish I had done it earlier. Secondly, I had heard about how your tastes change after surgery, am it is odd, things that I grew up hating ALL MY LIFE, I know enjoy, dare I say like eating. WLS has more affects on you than just your body changing. The obvious, my clothes have changed, my meds have changed and most importantly, I feel better, more motivated, a bit more confident, and my endurance and enjoying exercise/physical activity. Good luck on your journey.
