Good luck! I hope you have an easy recovery. -
It never hurts to call and ask for the status.

Congratulations! Mine is July 16th. Time's a flying..

Who cares if this is the guy's room. I think it is fantastic. No rest for the wicked. LOL Best of luck!

I have United Health and they required a 6 month supervised diet. I chose to go with the group that was affiliated with my surgeon. I would be careful to stay under a doctors care. I didn't have to have 5 years of weight background. My bmi is over 40 so I didn't have to have further tests for sleep apnea. I was also required to go to a Center of Excellence. Do not bother going anyplace else, it is a waste of your time. In order to be a COE you have to have super high success rates and super low side effects such as leaks etc. I feel in safer hands that way. Contact a COE and have them contact your insurance company. I hope this helps.

You may want to update your stats. =) Maybe post some pics! Congratulations! -
Hello, My surgery is July 16th. I would love a surgery buddy. I am nervous too!
-
You look fantastic. I have a little girl as well and I cannot wait for her to see me at a "normal" weight. You are an inspiration! I am somewhat afraid of surgery but I am going to go for it.

I had a 300 question test then met with the psych doctor. Really 300 questions. All they did was ask me the same few questions 300 different ways. They want to know if you do drugs, drink too much or have mental problems. Ex: hearing voices in your head, objects talking to you or you think you are a god or something. Kinda weird, I told the doctor, "no matter how many times you ask me, I am not a drunk, druggie or mentally impaired." He laughed and I passed with flying colors. I do get it though, if someone had these issues this surgery may not be the best thing at the moment.

Your weight will catch up with you. I had no issues either. Then my knee started bothering me. I was borderline diabetic and borderline high blood pressure. I am afraid of what would come next. My surgery is July 16th and I am afraid as well.
-
Ditto, I am scared and excited. I am more afraid of the actual surgery itself than anything else. I want to be around for my 7 year old daughter. I no longer want to be the fat mom. I flip and flop daily. I think it is the unknown that gets to us.
-
No, your BMI is all they need.
-
Shoot, I had a c-section 7 and 1/2 years ago and the numbness never wore off.
-
Best of luck to you! I hope you have a speedy recovery.
-
I have not had my surgery yet and I am scared as well. Guess I am not much help to you. I hope you have a speedy recovery. I am going to add you as a friend so please tell me how you are doing. Sending good wishes your way.

Recently Lost a Best Friend Because of My Decision to Get Bariatric Surgery
SherB replied to Sharon C.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
OMG...If she was truly your friend she would not judge you so harshly. Dang...I want to curse but I wont. I am so sorry she is being a jerk. Take care of yourself and make your own decision. Your health is not in "her" hands. -
Does anyone know if I can get WLS with a history of pulmonary embolisms? (And other questions)
SherB replied to Menelly's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I believe it is your bmi on your first visit. My doctor said she has not had any patients penalized for losing weight prior to the surgery approval. I do not think you are crazy because you are a ticking time bomb for high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea as well as knee pain. It would be nice to get this done before any of those things happen. Good luck! -
Where are you located JDillon? It is hot here in AZ as well. My surgery date is July 16th. It is definitely nerve wracking and exciting at the same time. Best of luck to you!
-
I got my surgery date! It will be July 16th. Getting excited and nervous. Thankfully it only took my insurance 10 days from the date the ppk was sent to approve.
-
Hello, I also have UHC and they are pretty strict with the 6 month program. It seems like a long time but really the time flew by. I would suggest you make sure you are on a good 6 month plan. I know someone who did WW but didn't track all of the exercise etc and got denied. My surgeon's office has a whole team that will assist with the 6 month program and they know what it takes to get you approved through your insurance. I just got approved for my surgery, it only took them 10 days from the date the ppk was submitted. Also the plan helps you to start eating better so it is not such a drastic change. As for your job, I am not sure about that but if you lost it, it would probably still be cheaper to get the COBRA coverage than to self pay for the surgery. Best of luck.

Maybe, just saying, people just need to talk to someone else going through the same thing. Maybe some encouragement or to know someone else out there cares about your journey as well as their own. Not everyone tells their family, friends and co-workers but they would still like someone to talk to. Just my opinion.
