  1. Thank you for the encouragement. My surgery is on Wednesday and I am nervous as heck. I appreciate anything that helps to ease my nerves. You are doing wonderfully. Great job!
  2. I am not diabetic but my doctor told me many patients are off all diabetes meds within a week or two. Some before they even leave the hospital. Crazy but great!
  3. I just asked the surgeons office for a doctor that would sign the paperwork. They gave me her name and I went in for a physical and she electronically sent the letter to the surgeons office while I was there.. No hassle. I would never fight my doctor, just find one who will do it. I have had enough lectures in my life. =)

    Feeling cold?

I for one cannot wait to actually try on a pair of dress boots. Not once have I ever worn a pair. They are too tight on my calf.
  5. Yes, that seems excessive to just be given a surgery date. Typically, the surgeons office tries to get you on the schedule right away even if it s a few months out. At least you would have some idea. That sucks!

    Feeling unsure

I was told that the first few weeks the water is the most important to stay hydrated. Everything else comes in time.

    Feeling cold?

I have not had my surgery but whenever I diet/eat low calories I am freezing cold. That is the only time for me so I am guessing it is probably very common after surgery.
  8. Unless I read your post wrong, you are saying you lost 102 pounds since March? If that is the case then a stall in July is not a bad thing. Your body needs to catch up to all of that weight loss. Hang in there and stay away from the scale for a few weeks. I have not had my surgery yet but stalls appear to be a common topic and they typically do not last long. Maybe switch up your exercise a bit. Congratulations!
  9. I am so afraid of this surgery. The number one fear is dying and leaving my 7 year old behind. I guess that is exactly why I am so scared. My doctor seems to think I am a good candidate and have no other issues other than my weight. I want the surgery but wish I wasn't losing sleep over it. Any words of advice or encouragement would be appreciated.
  10. I do not have a pre-op diet. I am going to ask why tomorrow but I can imagine it sucks. Even though it is for a good reason it is still hard to feel like you are so hungry. I think it is probably a normal feeling. The good thing is your surgery will be all over tomorrow. Just keep that in the back of your mind so you can get through the day. Best of luck to you tomorrow. Also my surgery is one week after yours.
  11. You look great. Congratulations!
  12. I feel the same way. It is nice to know we are not the only ones. Sometimes I see people so excited I wonder if there is something wrong with me. I am excited but super nervous.
  13. Can anyone tell me when their doctor said it was ok for them to drive after surgery? I am trying to make plans for my daughter in advance. Thanks!
  14. I have not been sleeved yet. But I wanted to give you a BIG CONGRATULATIONS!!! A new baby is such a joy!

    Was it a stomach virus?

Call your doctor. Better safe than sorry. Good luck.

    in the middle

I have to pay $2900 out of pocket and I am a single mom. I get it. My daughter comes first too. Can you buy only a few basics and wait a few months? Not sure how old your kids are. Mine wouldn't know the difference but she has uniforms that still fit from last year too. Or postpone the surgery for a couple of months. That would not be giving up your dream but a few months is better than no surgery.
  17. Took insurance 10 days then I got my surgery appt. scheduled the same day BUT surgery was 2 months later. Time is going quick though. Surgery on 7/16. Good luck.

    Before and After Pics

Congratulations! Keep up the good work!
  19. I also had a 6 month program and I was required to lose 10% of my excess weight. So if you were 100 pounds overweight you would be required to lose 10 pounds in 6 months. It really was not a lot. Now that being said, I lost 23 pounds and the doctor said many patients do not lose a pound. So I am guessing they will still do the surgery but maybe insurance looks at it to see if you made any attempt to lose weight.
  20. Beagleover, My surgeon said there are more complications from having your gall bladder out. I had that out years ago with no issues at all. I will try to hold on to that. I want to stay as positive as possible since I know that can make a difference.
  21. I feel the same way. I am not excited but super nervous. I am also "missing" food in advance. I love to eat and food is like my best friend. Of course that is not a good thing. =) Just keep moving forward. Best of luck!

    ONEderland

Congratulations!! I cannot wait for my weight to start coming off.
  24. I agree, it does seem counterproductive BUT for only 8 pounds I would go for it. Even going to Mexico is certainly not free. Of course I can gain 8 pounds in about a minute. =)

    Former Fatties! July Goals

Shoot, I just do not get offended easily myself. I overeat and way under exercise. I have lost 100 pounds twice and gained it all back. At 47, I have no time to be sensitive to others remarks. That being said... DANG it is so hot here in AZ. I am going to have to walk in the health club. Thankfully they have air!
