My doctor said soon nobody will be performing the Lap Band surgery. I am not anti Lap Band but my fear was if they stop doing them then who would do the fills for me. I just didn't want to have to drive hours to get someone who still did the fills. Now I am not saying for sure this is the case but it is what I was told. Made my decision for the sleeve much easier. Best of luck in whatever you decide.

Thanks Haley, it certainly couldn't hurt.

Has anyone not told anyone about having surgery?
SherB replied to Ky89's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I didn't tell a lot of people before but I wont lie to anyone after. It is a personal decision. I have found I have a lot of supporters by not keeping it a big secret. -
Wow!! Men definitely lose faster than women. Great job!!

Typical day of diet- is this right?
SherB replied to AlanaRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That sounds about right. I am 3 1/2 months out and am unable to get more than 800 calories on a good day. -
That does not sound right. I would look elsewhere.

Help me! Can't stop eating!
SherB replied to JillC878's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Brush your teeth. I never want to eat after brushing. You can even brush them many times a day with no issues. =) -
It took me about 2 weeks not to feel so hungry. It is normal.

even more HOW DO YOU COPE? POST OP QUESTIONS!
SherB replied to deftonestiffany's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello, No it is not inevitable you will get dehydrated. Sip, sip and sip some more. My cycle changed slightly, it just came earlier the month of surgery then stayed on track after that. I didn't take Vitamins until about 10 days out. Really only chewable but your NUT should direct you or your doctor. Pre op side effects may include any caffeine withdraws such as headaches but I seriously doubt you would be sick in bed. Depending on how long your pre-op diet is you may get sick of the shakes but otherwise you should be ok. Good luck to you. -
How much weight after 1 week post surgery
SherB replied to cdenney123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Normal, I was up 7 pounds due to fluid for over a week after surgery. The next week I dropped those 7 and 8 more. It just takes some time for your body to adjust. -
Don't let this ruin your relationship with your mom. You only have one mom, for good and not so good some days. As someone who lost my father via murder, you never know how much time you have. She may not "get" how you feel but if she loves you and your son that is all that matters. Best of luck to you in your journey.

June 12th and as of today down 60. What is everyone eating for breakfast?
SherB replied to Wynnie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Protein shake, it is just easier for me and gives me a big jump on my daily protein count. -
5 months post-op, 110 lost! Pics!
SherB replied to hmk715's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look wonderful. Are your working out a lot? That seems like a lot of weight for 5 months. I am over 2 months and have only lost 42 pounds. Not sure I could even get close to what you have lost in 5 months. Great job! Jealous here too. -
I am not so sure you could have stretched your sleeve out this soon after surgery. Also how could you tell? I suppose you could eat a lot more. I do not believe the sleeve can actually stretch that much. Of course you can eat around your sleeve by grazing.
-
You will notice the most restriction when moving onto solid foods, especially protein.

You can always change your mind and get the bypass. You do lose quicker. I am happy to have the sleeve but if I didn't have a choice I would have picked the bypass. Do what is best for you though and good luck.

No way in hell I could have went back to work that quick. I had to stay 5 days in the hospital due to swelling and lack of being able to drink. I planned 2 weeks and was approved for 4. Thanks God I was able to take the time. I had a lot of pain up until 5 weeks. Everyone is different and I hope that you have a speedy recovery. =)

Have your preferences for food changed?
SherB replied to Luana526's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost all cravings for sweets. I think that is a good thing except sometimes protein drinks are a bit too sweet. I also cannot stand eggs, just the thought of them. I can cook a recipe with them but not just eat an egg, no matter how it is cooked. I probably could still eat some pizza but haven't had any. LOL -
Amazed at some day one or two post op recovery stories
SherB replied to gregthegroove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I have seen the posts myself, "hey one week out and training for a marathon". LOL Anyway, I do not feel like I am a wimp. I never really complain, never get sick. That being said I felt like crap after this surgery for over 5 solid weeks. Couldn't get any Water in at first and zero Protein. Five weeks out I was barely getting 16oz of water in. Now at almost 2 months I get 48oz and occasionally make it to 64oz. It is a process, some take longer and some seem able to get in their water and protein right away. My doctor says walking only for 2 months, nothing else. My doctor is way more concerned about water than about protein for the first two months, we were not even given a protein amount. Just a guideline on what to eat. I have my 2 month appt. on Friday and I will see what I am told then. -
Post-op discomfort stories needed
SherB replied to Luana526's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had pain for 5 1/2 weeks, quite a lot of pain and I am no wimp. Not sure what happened with me but I am good now. Everyone is different but "most" people seem to feel well after a week or so. Best of luck to you. -
Please answer one more time
SherB replied to vincereautmori's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had stalls right on along, one week, then drop 4 pounds. Eight days then drop 5. Everyone is different but I stall out quite a bit. I just may be that type of loser where I just lose in chunks not days. -
I was starving too at the stage you were in. When you start eating real food you will get full much faster. Only a few bites and I am pretty full. Hang in there, it is super hard at first. I complained for 5 weeks straight due to pain I had so don't even worry about complaining. It is ok.

I would up your calories just not with junk or see how many calories you need to only lose 2 pounds a week. You can do that on myfitness pal or even google it. Really you don't have to go crazy and eat a lot. Good luck.
-
Up your calories for a few days and you should break your stall.

Great job!!!
