    Chicago Bandsters......

deborah, i know what you mean! the site is overwhelming! i started reading through months ago and just gave up, way too much to read! i was banded 8/13/07 and have lost 55lbs. and just like you i'm still trying to figure it out! my cousin also had it done a year before me and i'm CONSTANTLY asking... does this happen to you? are you feeling this? i really was hoping to find that group that would meet so i could ask the questions one after another. my biggest confusion is the fact that i of course cannot eat the the morning, then by lunch i will eat very slowly, but if i'm really that hungry, after a little time i can eat very freely and until i'm miserably full (haven't completely broken myself of that habit yet). what's your worst problem?

    Chicago Bandsters......

i had read on a thread somewhere the a group gets together at the panera in oak brook. is that still happening? i also had dr. shayani, thought he was a difficult person to deal with, but it ended up to be dayone health that was the problem. i need to find another dr., any suggestions from anyone? i live in dyer, in and work in oak brook so i was hoping for a place i could go to on my lunch hr. or right after work.

    Dr Woodard/DayOne Health -

i had my surgery 8/07 by dr. shayani from dayone. dr. shayani left dayone and i've seen dr. woodard once. i would strongly recommend trying to find another co. instead of dayone. their customer service is non-existant as well as any "support group". between the dr. schedules that are impossible to work with if you work and have a hard time taking time off work for fills, and their total disregard for taking care of their patients that had their surgeries with dr. shayani, i would stay away from them. i have to go through the hastle now of finding another dr. at the seminar they give you the impression of being there for their patients, but that is not at all true, find another dr. or you'll be left out to dry also.

    chiacgo doctors

i agree with the post regarding dayone health. i chose dayone because i work in oak brook and live in dyer, in. they have an office in oak brook and merrillville, in. went to their seminar had the surgery 8/07. my surgeon was shayani who has since left dayone. since shayani left a dr. woodard is supposed to be doing fills in the oak brook office, but unless he gets more than a few people coming in on the day he chooses, he'll cancel on you. then to go downtown i've been told that just one of the surgeons there accepts united healthcare and he only fills on mon. and tues. from 9 til 2:30pm. don't know about anyone else, but i cannot afford to take off work to drive downtown. the reason i chose dayone was their locations and what i thought seemed like a good customer service, but i was terribly, terribly wrong. they've pretty much given me THEIR availability and told me to choose. when i did mention that i may have to look for another place, they told me that i just may have to do that. no bending for me WHAT SO EVER! plus when i was getting my fills with shayani, no co pay and never received a bill, i saw dr. woodard just to meet him, was charged co-pay and just got a statement re: the office visit. per dayone, dr. woodard is his own co. and bills himself. sorry so long, but had even more problems with dayone, hope any new people get to read this before choosing a surgeon.
  8. weetsin, how much have you lost since the big day???
  9. alysedg23, 30 lbs in eight weeks?? please tell me what and how much you're eating.
  10. I'm so confused as to what I should be experiencing. I was banded 8/13, first fill was 9/19, as my surgeon filled the band he had me drink water until it wouldn't go down, then he slowly took out saline as I drank until I could get the water down. He said it was .1cc which compared to everyone else is nothing. When I first take a bite of something now matter how much is chew it when it goes down it's painful, after about 10 minutes I can take another bite, once I'm at the 4th or 5th bite it no longer hurts. I thought that it might be my band stretching out, but the very next meal is the same thing, pain at first then clear sailing. Is the object of the band to totally make eating and unpleasant experience, so you choose not eating over the pain? And does the hunger pains ever go away?
  11. you may want to have her attend a seminar if there is one in your area before you surgery date. inform her that the band is just a tool to assist you in the weight loss, the weight loss is still up to you. and stress that unless she has lost 100 lbs to get down to a size 3, she cannot begin to know the physical and mental stress you have always gone through, which has adverse effects on you also.
