I'm only 4 months out and I can pretty much eat anything. I thought I would have more problems. I'm happy in a way but worried in another, I had a leak one week after my surgery and ended up in the hospital for another week. Not good but I have lost 63 lbs so far. I'm worried though because I had a piece of birthday cake yesterday and had no problem. Yikes! I was hoping it would make me sick. Tonight I had steak and again just fine. I want this too much though to just allow myself to go backwards. Going to get into some groups or something.

I'm day 12 post op. I am still very sore and bruised. My incision where the drain was is still leaking a bit. But I just read that someones surgeon said it could be another week before that stops. I am seeing my surgeon tomorrow. It is a relief because I'm still really swollen and I don't like that the incision started draining after a week of seeming closed. Oh well. I've lost 20 lbs between the pre-op liquid diet and the almost 2 week post op liquid diet. I'm ready to eat real food but a little nervous about where to start. I certainly don't feel ready to go back to work yet. I've got another week off thank heavens!

2 week post op and just wanting to find people to talk too....

I just had mine April 10th. Still in a lot of pain but hoping it will get better soon. I don't know where you are from the san francisco bay area but that is where I live. I'm looking for someone to check in with about this new life, as well. Someone mentioned going to OA meetings so as soon as I have a little more strength and managed this one area of pain, I'm going to go check out the groups. -
April 2014 pre-op group
jazzy59 replied to KristinaRnY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well,I've moved my status to post op. I had 4 days in the hospital. A few complications but I am home now. I still can't figure out this site because I'm losing brain cells with the weight loss.lol Just kidding. But I'm not use to these type of sites soI don't know how to respond to certain people that I get email from. When my brain starts functioning again I will figure it out. I do feel like I am in a fog. I have one incision that is quite painful so I need to keep up on my pain meds. It is over though and that is a relief. Well, in some ways it is just beginning. Also, I think it is important to know that after the first few days after surgery, I went up a few pounds. It must be fluid cause I sure am not eating much. Not hungry either. But I'm forcing myself to get all the liquid down and some protein in. Best of luck to all of you and I guess I should move to post-op now. -
April 2014 pre-op group

Okay, tomorrow morning is my date. Getting everything prepared. I stayed exactly to the liquid diet and I've lost 18 lbs in two weeks. It was not easy. I'm excited (sort of), a bit nervous, and I just want to get it over with. It has taken so long for me to get to this point. Glad for this forum. Best of luck to all of you. -

New, Nervous, and Anxious

Thanks Britleigh. Yes, I started out at 329.8lbs. On the Ensure, I'm down to 315.8 as of yesterday. So not bad. I put the Ensure in a blender with lots of ice and it makes more. I also use part of my morning ensure in my coffee because I can't tolerate black coffee. I also found an app. on my iPad that you can track your weight loss with pictures of yourself as well. I was humiliated to see how big I am. Denial is a wonderful thing. But this app is really good. Tracks weight, charts your weight loss, photos, and you can journal. It is called FitJourney. -
Pre-op liquid diet woes
jazzy59 replied to seattleslew's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
One more day on this liquid diet. Again I was told to have 3 bottles of Ensure and any clear liquid. Sugar free jello and sugar free drinks. It has been hard. I read that someone felt terrific. I have felt weak and really hungry at night. Maybe I shouldn't say this but it really sucked! I can't wait to have this over with. I did it though! No cheating. I didn't know if I could. Surgery is Thursday April 10th. Kind of scared but I've had 4 spine fusions from a ski accident, this shouldn't be any harder. -

New, Nervous, and Anxious

Hi, I am right there with you. I have surgery on April 10th. I've been on the liquid diet for almost two weeks. I'm having my surgery at UCSF. I was told to have 3 bottles of Ensure and any clear liquid as my liquid diet. It has not been easy. But I have lost 14 lbs in 12 days. I'm anxious, I"m scared. I love to cook and of course, eat. I am excited to get this over with. I know I will have to change my life. No more hours and hours spent on decadent meal preps etc. I'm happy to have found this forum! Thanks for having it.
