Throwing Up every Night..Please Help
Beach girl replied to Maggie63's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Update - Had an unfill in Sept 2011 and feel soooo much better. No more vomiting at night. No more slime. As it turned out I had much more in the lap band than we thought - too many doctors keeping track of me (poor record keeping by one I imagine) and some of them have been transferred out. Doctor said my stomach was inflamed as was my esophagus -= I imagine my lungs were a mess too. Had a terrible time getting the fluid out - My port has turned and they cannot get a good angle to do the work. Frankly - right now I am feeling so blessed to not hurt and I cannot imagine putting myself through that again. I need a break from this. Maybe in the spring. Until then I will work to stabilize my life and my weight with the lapband wide open. I think a few months off is good for my mental health too. It was a nightmare and I need to recover. -
Throwing Up every Night..Please Help

Update - Had that barium test and found that my band is way too tight. Esophogus looked really wide so I think that the same thing is going on with me as some of you. No Zeckers. So I'm to have my lapband totally openned. However, Have to wait three weeks because my military doctor was sent to Afganistan. - Cannot figure out why people need lapbands there. Guess he went there as a trauma surgeon. Meanwhile eating early and eating mostly carbs for supper and drinking lots of ice Water all evening is helping. Cannot wait to get this open all the way. Considering switch to sleeve. -
Throwing Up every Night..Please Help

August 2011 - nearly 4 year after being banded. I'm having exactly the same symptoms for nearly a year and it is steadily getting worse. Every night...bile, vomiting, regurgitation, coughing, Cannot sleep - even in a reclining chair - To make a long story short - My military doctor was transferred overseas and I had to see a regular surgeon (for a referral) who said that he did not think it was the lap band - He suspects a Zenkers Divertrictulum. Its a pocket that forms on the esophogus and holds food. I have barium swallow tests scheduled for Thursday. The problem appears to not be connected to lapband - Problem that older northern europeans get - I'm 61 - rare but it happens. . They do not plan to adjust my lapband and I may have to have surgery on my esophogus - and a scar on my neck. I hope this is it. I am so miserable and am actually gaining some of the weight back out of sheer depression and exhaustion. Ask your doctor to eliminate Zenkers Divertriculum as a possiblity before you go farther... -

Good idea - I'll have my iron and hemoglobin checked. Being cold actually kept me from loosing more this winter. I actually ate more to keep warm - not good. Now that the weather is warmer I'm back on track!

I've had an intense pain in the middle of my stomach just below my sternum. It has happened three times. Last Friday I had a sonogram looking for gallstones and the pain started again when they were poking and proding doing the sonogram. I had skipped breakfast to have a fasting blood test that morning too. I figured it was that empty stomach pain I get some times. Later, even after I ate some yogurt, I had terrible pain and nausea. Broke into a cold sweat and got the dry heaves. The Dr. sent me to ER. They over reacted and gave me pain killers and anti nausea drugs. I had a reaction to one or both and went into shock and blacked out. Woke up with 6 people working on me, two IV's and an EKG in progress. It took them awhile to get my blood presure back to normal. I did find out that I have a couple of little stones in my gall bladder but not a large amount. We cannot figure out what happened to me. I don't know if the pain was caused by my empty stomach or by gall lader stones. Any one else have this happen?

Have a friend who lost 50 pounds on weight watchers and he has had the same problems with being cold. Says the solution is warmer new clothes

Have lost 54 pounds since 9/11/07 and am just trying to not gain over the holidays. Keeping Christmas desserts out of the house and increasing water. Have not needed a fill yet. I expect one at the beginning of January. Biggest problems are constipation, some gall bladder/pancreas issues, and the extra skin. Nervous eating is returning and I'm working hard to keep my focus. Still no real hunger. Weather is cold and I just cannot make myself go out to exercise. I did lots of mall walking before Christmas. Is anyone else noticing that they are cold all the time?

Anyone with Sept 11 as their banding date?

My first fill is 10/25 also. Am a bit nervous, and wondering what to expect. Wishing I could have that morning cup of coffee. Do you know if anyone drinks coffee after being banded? -

Stopped the pain meds and the nightmares went away - although we are all getting a few laughs about them now. It was just too wierd. Am feeling good and have a tendancy to push too hard and get overly tired. Mushies are wonderful. -
Just got there and never going back!!!!

Dr. Tells me clear liquids for two weeks. So please tell me what this means? I am sipping water, crystal light, and flavored water and clear chicked broth Can't imagine doing this for 10 more days. Am weak, and dizzy and shaky. They tell me to get up and move around but I am too weak. Banded Sept 11

Big improvement on day 5? I needed to hear that. Everyone is supportive. Hubby dieting strictly while I go through this too and doesn't eat in front of me. God love him! Grown kids behind me too. I just am the weak dizzy one. Perhaps I am impatient. Need to watch a movie, sip some water and sleep a long night -
Wendell - I was banded on Sept 11 - 4 days ago and am feeling very weak. Dr. has me on the clear liquids only and I feel hungry all the time and shaky. I thought it was the pain meds and cut back on them but I'm still dizzy. I got him to agree to clear fat free broth yesterday and that does help a bit. But I forgot to find out how often I can drink the broth. Did you have difficulty during those first two weeks of liquids only? What liquids did you drink?

Feeling the same as you. Just wierd and a little uncomfortable just under my ribs in the middle. Lots of wierd, awful dreams last night - so I'm hoping to nap a bit today and cut some of the pain killers. I'm on clear liquid only - no calories. Yesterday I talked them into some clear non-fat chicken broth. Such a treat. I tried warm decaf tea and think perhaps it had some hidden caffiene. Did not feel well afterward. Must work on those tiny sips. My surgery was in Dayton Ohio. I felt that the care was exceptional. I do need to search out a support group etc. It is going to be a long haul and I have lots to loose. How about you?

I'm having horrible nightmares. I think it is the pain meds I am on. I so much need the sleep right now. Fighting some depression. -
Any September bandsters out there???
Beach girl replied to stacy73's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Also Sept 11 - I've been on water and crystal light only. AARRGGH - It was kinda like loosing on Survivor. Today I got 3 TBSp of chicken broth which really seemed to stablize me. Set up a schedule for meds to keep them straight and on schedule. I'm trying to cut back on pain killers and find that massage and warm compresses on sore back muscles is helping. Really working on that positive attitude. Sleep is a Godsend any time of the day. God bless us all. -
Hi - I was banded Sept 11 and they told me clear liquids only. Today they agreed to clear non-fat broths also - 3TBS. That helped a lot. I'm also having back spasms. Hospital would microwave a small folded towel and place it under my back after it had cooled a bit. - just a nice cozy warm. That was a life saver. Best thing I did today was have my daughter paint my toenails again.

Hello again folks - Had it done Sept 11. Am I the first to report back in? Feeling like heck, but that is to be expected, I guess. Every time I take a long nap I feel better. Sweet dreams, all. -
Dr. Dock at Wright Patterson in Dayton Ohio. I do not know if they accept people just coming in for the surgery. I live 10 miles away from the base. Started the process in June and had it done Sept 11. Surgery staff excellent and very friendly.

LapBand Food Stages Lists Suggestions
Beach girl replied to dylansmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 2 days post op and have been put on a clear, liquid, sugar-free diet only for first two weeks. (water, crystal light) This seems awfully extreme. Has this happened to anyone else? -
Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio does lapband.
