I agree! It was light the light when on and I could live again. I'm over a year out from RNY revision and couldn't be happier!

My guy LOVES my extra skin. But i would love to have it off. I want to see what others say.

After thinking about this, I feel I need to say that I understand that not every one can have a revision, or even WANT a revision. I met a woman at my work today and she still has her band (she was banded a couple of months before I was) and right now she is unhappy with it but her BMI is not high enough, and she's not sure if it will be covered. I myself was denied for a revision in 2014 with a BMI of 37 because I technically had no issues with the band at that time. What helped was that my barium swallow showed in 2015 that the band had moved, and even though it wasn't officially a slip it was enough for the dr to convince the insurance company. So Secret, I DO hope you make it work!!

HI Secret,
I was banded in Feb, 2008 and I am now a revision to RNY as of 10/5/2016. It took me 2.5 years to lose 80 pounds with the band, and now, at 9 months out from RNY, I am down to 142 (69 pounds down and almost to goal). I will say good luck to you, you will need it - and using your word - BUUUUUTTT - my surgeon says that it is not a matter of "if" but a matter of "when" that it comes out. It is a foreign object and might cause problems for you in the future. My mother had her's out 3 years after getting banded. She ended up with an erosion. And as of 2 weeks ago also had a revision to RNY. It would be cool if it does work for you long term. I can eat better now. SALADS, chicken, beef. Happy days! Good luck to you :-)

I had my revision from the Lap Band to RNY on 10/5 and I couldn't be happier! I can actually EAT right. I am almost to goal at 142. With any surgeries there will be complications, and for those who have the complications I'm sure there are regrets (sorry to hear Gina Campbell!). Just wish I had had this surgery back in 2008 instead of the Band. I'm happy now! Don't regret it in the slightest (ok I have those days when I wish I could eat like real crap but they are few and far between).

Well its probably better in the long run. Are you moving along OK?

It's been 6 months since I posted on this thread, and almost 5 months since surgery, and I have to say I haven't developed a new addiction. An addiction, imo, is something we do outside of moderation. Something we feel we don't have control over, or is used as an avoidance technique. And this feeling can apply to good things, such as working out. If you are going to the gym and working out 2 hours a day, and the thought of your spouse doesn't bring happy thoughts, then maybe you might be using the gym (in the name of getting healthy-there IS a positive side to this) to avoid a situation that must be dealt with. I'm the first one to admit that I need clothes but I don't need more then what I can wear within a week or two. Collecting stuff isn't going to make me happy. I love to travel, spending time with friends and family - no different then before but not centered around food. I like what Alex said - being into life. And into balance.

RJ - wow 22 year? Didn't know they were doing those surgeries so long ago! Look into all options out there if your insurance company won't pay. Even Mexico or other overseas destinations. It's so expensive to self pay here. There is hope and it's good to see that you are feeling it!!!????????????????????

22 Pounds in 12 days is nothing to sneeze at!

Ok I've been out of the loop ... Have u decided to divorce or will u be dating while u r still married?
-
Congratulations
I agree 100% with you. I was banded for 6 years and almost 2 months before my revision on 12/31/2015. I feel so much better in just a week. And that's through the pain of healing.
Isn't that the truth?!
One thing I realize tho is that I can eat more then a person who hasn't had a previous surgery.

But drying doesn't necessarily have anything to do with desire, tho. I have seen my OB/GYN and just waiting for blood test results. I love my weight loss but am missing my libido!

I just want to say that I'm so thrilled with my decision to go with a revision and I wonder why I even bothered with the lap band in the first place.. Because I didn't want to be internally altered... Like many of you, I suffered more from the band (and what it was doing to me - cutting into my liver) then from the alterations that have been made to my body by switching to bypass. I can now actually eat good foods - salad and Protein - and not throw up or be in pain. Surgery on 10/5/15 and 3 months later down 46 pounds. Awesome!
-
Yeah Bobbe! Great to hear! The revision has been the best thing and so much easier then the band itself.

Thank you! I am see my Dr next week. I'll ask for my stats to be checked :-)

OK I had RNY surgery back in October of this year, after having my band removed. When I lost my weight with the band my drive went through the roof so I was expecting the same thing to happen after this surgery (I gained my weight back). Before surgery my drive was normal, and the hot flashes were gone because i was wearing a hormone patch. Now, 45 pounds down, my hormones are nowhere to be found, and my drive is MIA as well! The patch no longer works. This sucks! I will see my Dr. next week. Any one had a similar experience and if so what did you do? Thanks!

You are right! All of our paths are different. As well as the dynamics of your relationship. I think I was deflecting from my own personal relationship with my ex. now that I'm in a wonderful relationship I look back and ask myself why did I stay in my relationship as long as I did. It wasn't fair to him or me.

Life is too short, Mr. Smye. She has told you straight that she will want a divorce, that she's not interested in anything alternative. Why waste your time? There is no future with this woman. Great stay friends but move on. I wish you lots of luck!

I'm doing great! The Dr. found that the band had actually grown into my liver so it had to come out anyway. I am taking 2 weeks off, going back this Monday. I have lost 10 pounds. Yahoo! The only thing I have to be concerned with is doing too much. I feel great.

I just had my revision surgery on 10/5 and my first week I lost 7.7 pounds. My bmi was 37.5.

Hi All, surgery went great, had some issues about 4 days out with rapid heart beat, sweating, feeling faint for several days. After a visit to the ER today and lot of tests, I was told that I was dehydrated. Even though I drink 64 oz a day I can't seem to drink enough. But that aside I am happy. One week out and I have lost 7.7 pounds. Nice!

I have a BMI of 38. I thought that would be an issue but my band has slipped down my stomach. He's not calling it a slipped band. I lost 80 pounds with the band, got down to 143 (I'm 5'2"). Was at my lowest for only 2 months. Band was too tight so was unfilled, filled, unfilled, filled then gained, gained and gained more. My surgery date is this Monday, October 5.

We do have thyroid issues in my family. Thanks everyone!

Once I was approved for bypass last month my weight dropped like a rock, no matter what I eat! My band will be removed and I am suppose to have the RNY. My pre-op class is next week, my pre-op Dr. consultation in 2 weeks. My weight is strangely dropping, I have no idea why - I have purposely tried not to lose weight because my bmi was around a 38. now it is around a 35 (unless my scale is wrong!) I have been unable to lose weight for years and now it is coming off without me trying. Great if I wasn't looking forward to the surgery. Bad because i want the surgery.
Has anyone ever been denied after they were approved? Like on the day of surgery? I'm really bothered by this!!
Those who are years post OP - Question about Regain & Loss

I'm sending this out to those who have been revised from band to RNY for several years now. But anyone who has had RNY who would like to chime in are welcomed as well. I'm curious about loss after regain. Does it get harder the longer out you get? I'm over a year out and have gone up just slightly (a couple of pounds) but I'm getting back on track. Those of you even further out, is it hard to lose that regain? Is it easier to stay on track?
