Hello Everyone, Before signing on as a member of Kaiser I called their member services to find out more about the benefits and if the Lap Band surgery was covered. The benefits were explained to me and I was told that yes the Lap Band was covered. I was happy about this information and decided to sign up with Kaiser.Well after almost three months of being told that Kaiser would cover the Lap Band surgery and after I started the weight loss surgery process that Kaiser has. Now I have been told that they don't cover it. Not until I started asking for something in write did things change. I now need to know if anyone has gone through this with Kaiser and any information that you can share with me about Kaiser would help support me in my efforts to further pursue this. Hello There... It has been a long 8 months since our last group meeting. I would like to meet back with everyone and newbies right away. I have been stuck at the same weight for much to long and want to make a change. We can meet at the Borders in Bowie MD on Sunday September 16th @ 1pm I will be there.... Where is everyone? I had to upgrade my lap top and I have not loaded all my lap-band addresses in it yet. So I thought I would come here to post a meeting date. Hello Group, I have only one more month on this long journey I have been on with my host Kaiser Permanente. I will need to lose 4 more pounds by the end of January to reach the weight goal set by Kaiser Permanente. I know I can do it and I am happy for how far I have already come. So by Feb. 1st I can have the Doctors submit the request for the Lap Band surgery. As most of you know Kaiser Permanente is the company that approves the RNY but has not given to much information to me if they will approve the Lap Band surgery. I have done everything Kaiser Permanente has asked me to do and I am a very good candidate for the Lap Band surgery. So I will fight this to the end. I will need everyone's support and prayers. I will weigh in on Jan. 4th and then for the last time at the end of the month. Greg it would be nice to meet in Towson but I really don't know that area. If you could suggest a place I will do my best to make it happen. I enjoyed meeting with you before and I'm looking forward to seeing you again. I liked the idea of meeting in different locations to expand out group and accommodate all our members needs. So if any members that live in or know the Towson area can give a few suggestions that would also be great. Happy New Year... To You All... Karen

I'm in Cheltenham Maryland and it doesn't take me long to get to Annapolis. Our Maryland Lap Band Support Group use to meet at the Borders Book Store. We now meet in the Bowie area or sometimes we travel to members homes in the area.

Hello all, I'm so happy to have the band now. The pain is not so bad. I had a harder time with my c-section then with this. I'm home now laying in my bed with lots of pillows. I'm taking Tylenol 3 for the little pain I do have. My shoulder hurts more then my tummy. I will return to work tomorrow night on light duties. I want to thank you all for supporting me . Thanks to all that attended our one year anniversary on Sunday. I really enjoyed just hanging out and talking with you all. It's nice to have such a wonderful group of people to share with. I understand not everyone was able to attend, So we look forward to meeting with you next month. I will keep everyone updated, we plan to meet at 1 PM on the third Sunday of every month in the bowie area. I'm still on the lookout for a permanent meeting location. For next month I thought it would be nice to have a Bring A Friend Meeting. This will be a good time to bring a friend that is of support to you or that is interested in learning more about the Lap Band. I have learned a lot over the last year and I plan to make the much needed changes to better our group. So look for more wonderful things ahead. I have a consultation date set for Friday with Dr. Brody at GW in DC. So I have been really busy this week making sure I have all documentation together to submit to my insurance company. I'm getting closer and I will post again as soon as I hear back from the insurance company or get a surgery date. Again thanks for all your support. We will talk soon, K
