What do you tell people at work

My BF had RNY 3 months prior to me. The office staff had commented on how she is losing weight. I finally confessed to office staff that I had been following the same program as her and that I would be banded in a few months. They were all very supported. The girl I share an office with even did the 2 week liquid diet with me. I had a lot if support. Do you have at least one good friend at work you can trust?:guess
  2. Yes, I have that pain in the sternum. I think that it is gas. I still have it but is going away little by little.

Well, it is 5 days out and I feel fairly well. There is a problem with port pain but it's new and I'm sure it will go away. I just need not to bend down and to take it easy. Another thing is that I HAVEN'T had a bowel movement. I bought "Benefiber" (have been taking it for 2 days, in my water) like the surgeon's nutritionist said but nothing is happening. My stomach is soooooo bloated out! It's worse than before the surgery. But like I always say.....I'ts all temporary. Besides that I wouldn't change this for the world. -Teresa :clap2::clap2::clap2:
  5. I had to do the 2 week liquid diet. It was a challenge! I was lucky to have good friends at work that supported me and also went on the 2 week liquid diet with me, this helped me alot!

    I pulled my port!

I was banded on 9/07. I feel great! I do have a little port pain but I'm sure it will go away, being that it is only 4 days since surgery. I get up and do my walk. My surgeon wants his patients to walk a duration of 1 mile a day, of course in sections. Besides that my energy level is way up:clap2::clap2::clap2:
  7. I was just banded on Sept. 7th. I had a 2 week liquid diet pre-op. With that I lost 13 pounds. What a challenge that was! But I made it. I haven't weighed myself since the surgery. I am so bloated with gas that I know the scale will not contain the true weight. I need to wait for a week and then see. -Teresa
  8. I have a friend that did the RNY and all she had to do was liquids for 3 days. For me, I had a 2 week liquid diet with the last 2 days being nothing but clear liquid. THe reason is to have the liver shrink and to get the fat away from the liver. That's what the surgeon told me.
  9. You have my support. Just banded on Friday, September 7th. How do I get my tickerfactory on my messages?

    Attn: Catholics - Communion

It's all up to you. Like l8bloomer said and you should know, being catholic, that the wafer dissolves into nothing . In my opinion, a small wafer is not going to hurt you. Then again you won't be committing a sin if you don't take it, Jesus knows how you feel about him.

    Afraid

Rachel, Don't be scared; the procedure takes about 45 min to an hour. I was wheeled into the OR and the anesthesiologist put the mask over my mouth and I was out for the count. Next thing I knew I was in recovery asking for pain medication (which didn't last too long). After about 3 hours I was up and walking. Was able to sip a little water around 6:00p.m. I would encourage that you get up as soon as you are up to it and start walking. This helps get rid of some of the gas and makes you feel better. The next day, I was discharged and now I feel pretty good. I do have a dull pain where my port is but it is tolerable (i'm sure it go away, since it has only been 3 days). So.... DO NOT BE AFRAID. This is something you won't regret. -Teresa
  13. My primary care doctor told me that he WOULD NOT authorize lapband. I just faked the funk and waited to see the surgeon. The surgeon asked me what type of surgery I wanted and I told him lapband and here I am 3 days out from lapband surgery and feel real good. Of course, it is noted that RNY patients lose their weight faster, but just like the above post, after 5 years the lapband and the RNY patient would had lost the same amoutn of weight they needed. You just have to go with your gut. That's what I did.
  14. Maybe you should call your surgeon to make sure what it is he said or maybe talk to his associate they really should know best. My surgeon put me on a pre-op diet for 2 weeks of just liqiuds and 2 days before surgery just clear liquids. 2 weeks after nothing but liquids. 2 weeks after that it is just pureed food. Then I can start to introduce food little by little and then on the 6th week I am to receive my first fill
