Congrats on feeling the restriction! I can't wait until I can actually see what the band can do for me. I had one fill and have NO restriction. I kind of feel bummed out, like I will never get to the point where I need to get. :-(

I too have had only one fill and they gave me 1cc in a 10cc band. Needless to say, I feel like a bottomless pit! I can't wait until I get my next fill on the 28th of November. It has been pretty hard to behave when I KNOW that I can eat. I hope the next time it turns out better. I feel your (hunger)pain.

Hi everyone, I had my first fill of 1cc yesterday and I am experiencing alot of pain under and around the port area. Does this happen to any of you and is it usual for this to happen. the pain is so bad I had to take pain medication and I tolerate pain well. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Prettybrowneyes. how did you feel after the 2.5cc fill? my doctor only put in 1ccand I have to say... I'm not feeling much restriction.

Just wanted to let everyone kow that my port pain is gone. I had my fill on a Wednesday and the pain was gone Saturday morning. Thanks everyone.

I spoke with the doctor yesterday and he asked if it was oozing any pus or if there was a rash or if it was heated around the port. None of this was happening. He told me to get the swelling down with a heating pad and to take some tylenol and if it was worse in the morning to call him. It isn't worse and just a little better. I think that because of the feeling for the port and was asked by the doctor to flex the stomach muscle as if doing a set-up this irritated it.

Hi, just received my first fill on Wednesday the 24th. I didn't have a flouro or an ultrasound. The doctor looked around for the port and stuck the needle in and within 3 minutes that saline solution was in there. I do though have pain 1 inch below where the injection was made for the port. Do you have any port pain?

Hi everyone: I am expected to get my very first fill on October 24th. What should I expect AFTER the fill? How will I feel, stomach wise? How much should I be able to eat and how soon after? I need help and understanding on what to expect, after this fill. Thanks so much. -Teresa

I was told it was a ten minute procedure. I would really like more restriction. I am just finally starting to feel hungrier sooner and the restriction isn't too great. I am staying on track with my exercisethough which is a big bonus. -Teresa

Hi everyone: I am 3 weeks out and feel pain where the port is (not all the time). It feels like a jabbing pain, is this normal?
-
I am fairly new to the band, I was banded 09/07/07. I, too feel alot of backpain and have decided that I have just eaten way toooo much. I still have had no fill. My first fill will be on October 24. So, I do know what you mean by the backache.

Can you tell me what symptoms are that lead you to believe you had a hernia against the flipped port.
-
I will make sure that I do that for you.

I liked the "New Whey" but when I spoke with my surgeon's nutritionist, she said to definitely not take any proteins with with collagen, ie... collagenic protein. These are not 100% whey and are not helpful in the aid of losing weight. FYI: Also, I spoke with her about the ingestion and absorption of protein and she said that us "Lapbanders" can absorb everything no matter what the grams of protein are. People who had the RNY are the ones that can only absorb certain amounts of protein.

Best Liquid Meal Replacement/Protein Shakes
caligal replied to Evilah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Has anyone tried The COSTCO premier protein shake? It is already premixed and in a milk carton. Each carton is one serving with: 30gm protein 160 calories 30 gm fat I have the chocolate and it is "Yummersssss!!!!" Try it if you get a chance, it doesn't have that protein taste to it. -
It is to my understanding that a body can absorb 30 gm of protein at a sitting and I may be mistaken but that is for those whom have had RNY. For us banders, I believe because of the fact that we don't have malabsorption, we can take even more and it will be absorbed through our body.

can you feel the band and the port?
caligal replied to andielmt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told by the referring doctor, the nutritionist and my GP that the medical group would not refer anyone for lapband. I was convinced that the lapband was what I wanted. I had the appointment withthe surgeon, he asked me which procedure I wanted. I told him lapband and in 1 week the referral for the procedure was accepted. Go with your gut. If you want the lapband, don't let anyone talk you out of it. Only you know what you feel comfortable with. -
Do you have any bloating in the stomach? My stomach is soooo bloated, It is finally starting to go down. I'm too afraid to weigh yet because I know alot of it is water bloat and still being swollen from the surgery.

I was banded 09-07-07. I feel pretty good, except for the back pain and I feel that my esophagus is full. I attribute the back pain for too much walking. I need to take it easy. I am so glad I had this surgery.

Hi, my name is Teresa, I am from Southern California and just had lapband surgery on Friday, September 07th. I am new and this is my first time on the boards.

Hi: Good to see someone have the surgery the same date. I just found this site this past Monday, I really love it because I have people here that I can relate to. I am experiencing the same as you. The liquid food seems to just sit there in the esophagus. My stomach is sooooo bloated, I feel 4 months pregnant (I hope this goes away real soon). I had constipation and the port has some discomfort, but it is liveable. I also get a burp when I eat. Did youtake some time off from work? I still haven't seen the surgeon, I have an appointment on the 19th to get the staples out. Keep me posted on your progress, maybe we can e-mail each other.
