  1. Problems are that insurance companies don't recognize hypoglycaemia as a health problem. My copay for the Addisons was over $600.00 and refuses me to see a dietitian. It took over 8 months to get authorization for my test strips. My endocrinologist quit. I am trying to learn how to eat and stop gaining weight due to steroids. I would be interested in knowing if the right balance of vitamins would help with the Addisons. Thank you
  2. Are you also doing surveys for how many gastric bypass patients have developed Addisons disease and/or Hypoglycaemia after having bypass surgery? I've been told by 2 different Endocrinologist and a Dietician that why I have it.
  3. Yes I do and is caused from Addisons Disease which my Endocrinologist told me is from getting gastric bypass surgery.

    I'm going bald! Please help

I used prenatal vitamins which seemed to help. I was told about this in a support group I attended.
  5. My problem is that my husband is skinny and eats junk all the time. He wants me to fix his lunch and I can't get him to get his own cookies or whatever for himself. I put all his junk in the bedroom drawer. If I don't see it I don't think about it or crave it. When I see it is when I start thinking about it and begin craving it until I break down and eat it. Yes it makes me sick to my stomach, unless I am having a hypoglycemic attack. Then eating a small part helps me. The secret is the small part...half a cookie eaten very slow to enjoy the flavor.
  6. I keep sugar free fudge bars around. I have gotten to where I only eat 1 or 2 a week. I'm a chocoholic and they now satisfy me unless I eat real chocolate then they don't satisfy me.

    What are your excuses?

If it bothers you that much, turn it on their ignorance. " Studies show that it takes roughly 20 minutes for your brain to realize when it is full. I eat slower to let it catch up and it works". My sister is obese and is trying to eat slower instead of wolfing down her food. She normally eats so fast and so much she vomits later and is hungry again. She is trying to understand this is why she is gaining instead of loosing weight.
  8. Have you ever had any problems before your surgery? I had mine in 2005 and was not diabetic. Last summer I started having dizzy spells. Doctors thought it was from having radiation therapy to my brain tumor and from getting Sjograns syndrome, a cursor to the radiation. I started having 2 or more attacks a day and got so sick I could barely move. Good thing that came from it...I lost over 100 lbs in less than 6 months. I originally stopped loosing weight after 98 lbs, but my bad eating habits returned and I gained my weight back. I am able to eat regular size meals...which is bad because I was told that I was actually storing food in my asophagase which can lead to other problems. Anyway, when I got sick I was vomiting so much I got back to barely being able to eat...thought I was doing good at getting back under control. Like I was told so many times...this is a tool and you have to control your eating habits. If you are having a lot of trouble with the hypoglycemia please go to an endocrinologist with your records of food and blood glucose levels and get tested for Addisons disease. I was diagnosed with it in January of 2014 and wad told it was caused from the gastric bypass surgery and if I don't take my hydrocort (steroids) I will die. They only replace what your glands stopped producing.

Anyone have Addison's Diseae after VSG?

Sorry I forgot to mention that they put me on hydrocort. I was told I will die if I don't take it. Yes I have gained 20 pounds back but I am still trying. My problem is when I have glycimic attacks I have to eat or drink something sweet.

Anyone have Addison's Diseae after VSG?

I had gastric bypass in 2005. I was just diagnosed in January of 2014 with Addisons disease which is why I keep having hypoglycemic attachs (my blood sugar drops as low as 42). I was told by an endocrinologist that it is from having the surgery.
