Question for the slow losers
sjohn replied to AuriP's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello everyone, I have not posted in a while. I believe I am a slow loser also. I had surgery March 2014 and I am down 79 lbs. I seem to have been at the same weight for the last month or so. I did not start exercising until Nov 2014, due to my work schedule, now I have no excuse since I am not working right now. I do my Protein, Water, Vitamins but I need to up my exercise days, watch my salt intake, and probably add some strength training. I am due for my follow up with my surgeon but he is 2 hours away and I had to cancel twice due to the snow. I live in Northern NJ, we are in the midst of a storm now. I was starting to feel that this was it for me as far as losing anymore weight. I had to remember this is a tool not a fix. I also had to be grateful that I lost 79 pounds. I want to be under 200's in One-derland as the sleevers say. I also was striving to get into a normal BMI range but maybe that is not practical for me. I will talk to my surgeon and keep pushing to reach my goal. -
I like Nature's Way Dark Chocolate and Peanut Protein Bars, 10 grams of protein. I keep them in the fridge. I also like sugar free Klondikes or sugar free Blue Ribbon ice cream sandwiches.

Have you tried Biotin for your hair loss. I started taking it prior to surgery and I am still taking it. It has been working for me. My surgeon said that it does not work for everyone. Also it is important to get in your 60-80 grams of protein daily, along with your vitamins. Like everyone said it will grow back. I know that is not much consolation right now but hang in there. I understand about your hair being your security blanket. Baggy clothes were mine. I am now just getting use to not buying plus size clothes. Sometimes I still buy them out of habit and have to take them back and get a smaller size. There are so many things that we deal with being obese, that those that are not do not understand. Anyway we are all starting out new and have a second chance at life to do it right, live happy and healthy once and for all.

Congratulation on your surgery. The first week can be a little rough sometimes, but it will get better as time goes on. This is the beginning of a new journey. I am from Northern NJ.

My surgeon says 1000-1200. Every surgeon is different. I am following what my surgeon says. There is so much information out there you can get confused.

Hello, I am from North Jersey. I had my surgery on 3/24/14 by Dr Earl Noyan in Hamilton. The first few days were rough for me,. I do not tolerate pain very well. I was blessed to have a private room. My bed was a little short, I am 5'9. I am down 25lbs which I am happy about. I was at a stall a couple of weeks ago, which they say is normal. I wish everyone the best on their pre surgery and surgery dates. Hang in there. It will be worth it. I really feel great and this is only the beginning of my journey.
