Case Manager - did you have one?
auntjanny replied to Kate M's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The surgical staff took care of everything. It is a Center of Excellence, as someone else noted, if that makes a difference. I was fortunate to have an issue free experience. Hope yours improves -

Sleevers 15th September to 21st September Check in
auntjanny replied to knzt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I too have felt that maybe I got stuck with too big of a stomach or that I am losing slower than most folks. I have lost 20 pounds 6.5 weeks post op, and have not yet embraced an formal exercise routine. I started out at a lower BMI, and have no excuse for not getting on treadmill or bike. It is as if I am afraid to try cause I failed at exercise so often. I am going to try to download a motivational or hypnosis recording and see if that works. -
Nmsugirl... So sorry about the delay. Stay active on the forums and begin an exercise routine if you haven't... Clean out a couple of cupboards for your foods, make a list of all the bad trigger foods that set you off on an eating spree... Make the time count. Really you can stay motivated and excited if you stay mentally involved. I had to do a 6 month pre op and it flew by. Really.

Dr encouraged the full 6, and I took 5. It was boring but a blessing. I am fortunate to have accrued sick time so it was a time to decompress from work. I had had a hysterectomy a few years back and while this seemed more painful (adhesions), I was more fatigued with hysterectomy. But, this is a big deal and if you have the sick time or can afford to take the time off, do it! Heck, I got cupboards cleaned, and wallpaper stripped, and some Christmas shopping done.

Slowing down or stopping weight loss
auntjanny replied to SparkleCat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Then give yourself the credit you deserve for recognizing this!! This is a NSV for sure, but keep thinking about it... Don't let yourself get too vulnerable that the old ways feel comforting. Truly, it sounds like you are doing well with sharing your concerns. Truly I was not mocking. I just can't imagine such a double edged sword- which this really sounds like. I am happy for you and your great success and wish you well on the next part of this journey!! -
Slowing down or stopping weight loss

Not to minimize your concerns, Sparkle, I simply can't imagine!! -
JCP, good thoughts on food as fuel. I have heard it a thousand times but never acted on it.

Traveler60... Congrats to you. I thought I had hunger the first few days home. Warm broths seemed to take care of it, and later, I found that taking the Prilosec or similar really did take the edge away. It may have been acid not hunger in my case. Keep us posted!

Aww Piggy Piggy, thanks for the encouragement. I am so afraid I will not be able to keep up!

SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
auntjanny replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think some of that sharp pain near incision areas can be adhesions or scar tissue. I was told I apparently tore them all free (sharp awful pain) but suddenly they were gone. -
I can get a good three gulps in and that will have to do... It is not as restrictive as I had thought. I have had white wine paired with a large glass of ice and it can take a long time to drink. If I go out with friends, a virgin Bloody Mary, extra spicy keeps me entertained, and sometimes I score a couple of really giant olives so it is kinda like a drink and a snack to me!!

As I understand it, it is like throwing up but everything is all slimy. -
What are you eating post op?
auntjanny replied to LauraLei101's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 5.5 weeks post op (every day matters!). I am back to work and can eat a little bit of anything although raw veggies like baby carrots is not good. I am still relying on a protein drink of some sort to get in easy protein but yogurt, eggs, and chicken are my mains. For breakfast I had 1 egg and half a piece of toast. Lunch and snack will be yogurt. I have had no slime incidents, but, came close with the carrots!! -
That dress is perfect and you will likely have to have it taken in! What a great year you have ahead of you! A perfect purchase!!

September Sleevers....whatcha eat in' now?
auntjanny posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I still rely on a premier protein shake daily to get protein in. I have had soups, cheese, eggs, avocado, yogurt, canned tuna and fish, applesauce, and baked chicken. Yogurt goes down too easily. I can eat a normal serving. I can easily eat a half cup of loosely packed chicken of tuna. Just wondering what others are eating and how much? I am 4 weeks post up tomorrow. Trying hard to get water in. -
Good luck to you! I am 5 weeks post op. Feeling almost normal in the last two days. I had no complications, although I could not shake lower right abdominal pain/ burn and that had gone away. Take it easy, drink water. You will have plenty of time to work on protein. Staying hydrated will keep you in better spirits and able to tackle recovery!

I don't know what is a fair goal weight to select. I am new to surgery and just appreciate the communal accountability.
