But, if I am too big to fit into one seat and encroach upon another passenger's space, it is my responsibility to be pro active, and considerate of other people and consider flying the airlines with larger seats for purchase or by purchasing an additional seat.

Congrats on making so many positive changes. BOO to the psychologist. Stay the course. Jump threw the hoops. You WILL get there. I thought psych eval was to ferret out eating disorders...

I mix up fuzzy navel syntrax nectar the night before...2 scoops and 4 cups water is 46 grams of protein. I also have unflavored syntrax that I put in strained soup for another 10 grams. And then, do a ready to drink. It is not as bad as I thought it would be

Wanted: September Sleevers!
auntjanny replied to Liberianne_Gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was snowed for the first 36 hours. Things get better. I had IV in until I left. 64 oz is quite pie in the sky but I was able to get all protein in mainly with Syntrax nectar. I have water strategically placed throughout the house -
plastic surgeon. Just going to say it!

Wow, RJ, rotten reply on your end to Gummy Tummy. You are open and honest. But defensive and unkind. Gummy Tummy was offering support, not judgement. -
plastic surgeon. Just going to say it!
auntjanny replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You are quite strong and outspoken on the boards. That is meant as a compliment. When the shock wears off consider how you would respond to this post had you not written it. In fact, go ahead and write an honest reply on a sheet of paper when you feel better and have a working toilet! You certainly need another opinion in plastic surgery. Sorry for feeling demeaned. This is a hiccup. A big hiccup. -

auntjanny replied to Liberianne_Gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow Shannon, congrats on the immediate recovery. I was done on the 22nd and things for me are going well but so much slower. I did not start sips of water for 24 hours, then did a clear liquid for another 24. I had sips of hot chocolate, chicken broth and instant breakfast and the best Popsicle of my life and was sent home. It is nice to be home and am getting most my protein in with nectar -
Sleeved on Monday 9/22. What I wish I had known!
auntjanny posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am happily home sipping on Crystal Light. I was sleeved robotically on Monday. I have read a few WLS books, been a frequent reader here at BP, and have attended support group x2. I was not prepared, as stupid as it sounds, for how huge a surgery this was!! My post op groggy lasted almost 20 hours, so I feel as if I lost some time and was behind the eight ball. Getting up and walking was easy. I was given a belly binder and that helps keep all the pieces to gether. Walking cannot be over emphasized. It moves the excess gas all around decreasing back pain, or wherever it chooses to manifest itself. Bring as little to the hospital as possible. Chapstick. It cannot be overemphasized!! just bring chapstick. I wore the same clothes home that I arrived in and that made things simple. Do the deep breathing and coughing. I developed a fever pretty quickly that was over 100 and it was an added distraction. My blood sugar went up to 199 so I was put on insulin. Despite no history of diabetes, this is not uncommon. Truly, each "day" gets better. significantly better. The nausea was so terrible I could not imagine it going away, but, I have not had an issue with it since home. Best wishes to all. -
Just say "thanks, I am working on it"

Who knew what a group of partyers we VSG peeps were?! I was a beer drinker. Now that carbonation is out if question I just don't see alcohol as being a big part of who I am! I will miss the sound of a pop a top, but will buy myself some super cute boots or short jacket and enjoy the fun differently from now on!

I was considering lap band, have been convinced sleeve is a better choice. Any thoughts?
auntjanny replied to Ready 4 Changes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I originally whet into all of this thinking lap-band was my choice. At seminar, learned that presenting dr did not even consider them anymore but his partner had done one or two in the last year. I was depressed as I had read so much great stuff...which I later realized was written or promoted by lap band makers. This begins my 4th day post op with the sleeve, and I do like the choice I made. Good luck! -

I just stayed in the hospital gown even tho I bought a cute pair of pjs. IV stayed in until the very end. Passing gas was a big deal with regard to getting to leave! I did not need a heating pad but am always concerned with heat increasing infection so I still have not seen the need. Phone and charger and Chapstick. I did not need slippers... Just had the socks over the Ted hose. I totally forgot about the leak check. That was over quickly. I had no visitors. Use the short time you are there to walk and nap -
daVinci robotic surgery anyone?
auntjanny replied to Fab@Forty's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I just had da Vinci robotic for the sleeve on Monday, and had a da Vinci robotic for a total hysterectomy. I think the positives override negatives by quite a ways! Good luck. -
I am day 4 post op. I could do nothing. I was shocked at how immobilized I was. Walking was a big help. Today is so Much better. Walked around the house outside several times. Going to do so again. Had nectar Popsicle and put unflavored syntrax into strained cream if potato

My hope is that a replacement surgeon will be found or is already in the wings, and your employer will be able to carry on at the point where the former doctor dropped off. The surgery is a life time commitment. If you find you are delayed 6 months, or a year, it is just that much more time to prepare and be mentally at the ready. Sounds like quite a shake up. I think the future bariatric surgeon will be a better choice. In my community, such surgery is not "big business" but, it is increasing and all three hospitals provide the services. I do not think your hospital will let it lay dormant for long. Sorry for the delay. Stay positive. Stay proactive. Maybe get a support group going of the folks affected, and have nutritionist come speak, former patient speak, exercise therapist speak. Keep us posted.

Diet choice for insurance requirement
auntjanny replied to mistel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had 6 month required. No gains was the key. I lost very little. Learned so much the last 6 months. No regrets for the wait. I feel as if "I gotz this" is written across my soul. The mental prep over the last 6 months has been HUGE and helpful!! -
I scream for ice cream!

I am on Day 10. Last day of pre op. A shout out to me for no cheating. Big confidence builder as I am, er , WAS, a chronic failure. First two days were headache prone. The middle 5 ok, and almost bit my husband's head off in reply to his simple talking as I got pretty crabby!! Chicken broth with ground pepper saved me some days. Frozen Popsicles another. De caf coffee and a packet of Carnation. Instant Breakfast no sugar added was a staple. -
Best wishes to you. What a great feeling the words "approved" have, eh?
-
My surgeon has not had a leak in 4 years. Will be tested for leaks during surgery and one day post op. Dietitian and nurse have said procedures have improved so much that prevent leaks, that drains are not used too much either.

Looking for a " Dear God let me get approved" Pal
auntjanny replied to Jacqbult's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish you all luck as you wait it out. I have relatively lower BMI and few comorbids but was certainly heading toward a higher BMI and sicker life. My insurance approved within 10 days and surgery scheduled in about a month from approval. I wish and pray for your success! -
