A "shout out" to Syntrax Nectars Fuzzy Navel protein
auntjanny posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am about 10 days post op. I was concerned that I would not make it this far because the thought of drinking smelly yukky whey Protein made me gag. I tried a few ready to drinks (RTDs) and while pretty sweet, knew I could suffer through with them. After lots of posts discussing what works best or what preferences for protein were, I order the large canister of the Fuzzy Navel flavor (2#), and a small can (1#) of the unflavored Protein powder off of Amazon...it cost just under $50 and was free shipping through vitacost. I mix two scoops of the fuzzy navel with 4 cups of Water, and refrigerate overnite, pour over ice the next day and get 46 g of protein in, AND added water. I have used the unflavored which is 10g per smaller scoop, and added to creamed Soups and SF Jello. It will clump if too hot so, I added to jello after I added the water/ice cube speed set and there is no change to flavor or consistency. Jello is just not clear. I was able to put two scoops, for 20 g of protein to a small box of sf jello. With the Soup, I added it to the soup and heated in microwave.... as I was only eating about 1/4 c at a time, it was okay at first, but with each successive heating, it became more clumpy. Still, the unflavored does not at smell or texture or flavor, and will be a bonus when I get to the point that I can have pureed and soft foods. I am certain that this is repeat information, but, it was such a concern for me, and now, such a relief. Oh, I purchased an ice tea/lemonade flavor today at the Vitamin shoppe, and the canister was $39.99 so just a bit more than Amazon. It was a new product for them there. I supplement with Premier Protein ready to drink vanilla, and Muscle Milk chocolate. Crazy sweet, and will be looking at diluting with banana, milk and ice cubes plus other methods in the future. -
secret surgery: what else can you tell someone if they ask?

I use the transgender surgery option, clear my throat, talk a little deeper, and say, "you can call me Uncle Janny if you want" -
Pre-op diet...... Destroyed!
auntjanny replied to waitingtoexhale's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It makes it hard doesn't it, when pre op and post op diets are literally all over the board!! -
I am still just laughing at Forsythia's earlier post!!!

auntjanny replied to cvelasquez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first post op today...I had been feeling pretty stable and had changed things up yesterday with full liquids and definitely did not get liquids in...head ache, nausea and wobbly. Fast pulse. All signs of dehydration. They said it can happen pretty fast. So, when in doubt, get some iquids in. I hope you feel better soon. -
First week sleeved...quick question
auntjanny replied to Fluffernutt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I added small piece of frozen banana to a shake and blended it with some ice. I could feel that little bit of banana. I was about 5 days post op. I am waiting another few days to try it again. SF jello, with unflavored nectar powder, also seemed to dense for me one week out. -
My nutritionist said you can't OD on protein, if that is any help.

Red flag! You have put too much of yourself into this process. Good you recognize it, but, you have to act on this. Three legged stool... Physical, emotional, and psychological needs all have to be factored in and taken care of... Call the office in the morning! Good luck.

Just started my pre opp diet
auntjanny replied to TheNewSamanthaSmiles17's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I recall reading and being told, that the better you do on pre-op, the better you will do post op so there is some incentive! Walk away from food. You have nothing to prove at this time so don't tempt yourself. Mix it up. Chicken broth and black pepper can taste awesome. If you can eat yogurt or carnation no sugar added preakfasts, those are filler uppers. Good luck, oh and you might get crabby! -
September Sleevers!
auntjanny replied to SleevedSharon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hunger or gas pains!! Yes. And learning just how much of a swallow I can handle is an ongoing process! Hang in there -
I have BCBSmi PPO and they were quick to approve. I had lower BMI and had to make a case for comorbidities a I did not have the main or common ones. I am one week post op, have not seen my co pay bill yet, but the pre op testing was mainly covered other than psych eval. I am beyond happy with it so far. I hope you experience similar positives!

Welcome back to "the other side"

I took from the majority of posts that syntrax nectar fuzzy navel flavor was well tolerated. I ordered the large canister and agree. Two scoops mixed with 4 cups water, give or take, gives me 46 gm protein. A ready to drink premier protein or muscle milk adds the remainder.

Um, no, parents have to pay if kid takes up more than one seat space. If kiddo can't sit still that encroaches upon another. Of course the big guy is going to face the same potential issue of having to buy an extra seat. Not sure that height matters on a plane as much as width, so he tall leggy guy likely does not get a heads up. I am not saying it is right that seats are so small, but, I am in no way allowed to make others uncomfortable because I am plus sized. It is my burden.

2 days before sugery and feeling conflicted

Good luck with the surgery. Not being selfish is what got us to this place in many cases! -
Each day I physically feel better. Today I got an early 30 grams protein in and felt ahead of the game. Started to focus on other things that needed to be done around the house and yard and over did things. Got pissy with everyone. Lost track of protein and water intake. Note to self: early in the journey, stay focused on this recent surgery!!!!

If your NUT says eat a green salad, enjoy it!!

All I am saying Nelle1230, is I hope we never cross travel paths

Cut your friends some slack. It is a weird topic, a drastic lifestyle change... My friends have not contacted me either. They are still amazing friends. They don't need to hear about my sore belly, gas problems, or how bored I am!! You continue to take care of yourself. If some people are envious, uncomfortable, or angry that you have had this surgery, that can work itself out, depending on how you approach them. It is a big change. Don't write them off just yet.

How much of your daily protein comes from supplements?
auntjanny replied to Butterflyhigh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am still in full liquids as surgery was 9/22. I drink 46 g of syntrax nectar daily and then pure protein or muscle milk or unflavored syntrax to cream soup to get my protein in. I blended frozen banana half into pure protein the last two days but it is too soon. How does your body handle the jerkey? It seems like that would be tough to digest. Would love edamame... That sounds divine -

What protein hot chocolate are you using? I am one 6 days post op and warm is hitting the spot more easily than cold. Thanks!
