April 9th sleever how u doing ?
Kelly Gonzalez replied to nancy264's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Nancy, congrats to you on your new lifestyle. I was sleeved on the 31st so am farely new to all of this too. I'm also on alot of meds, and insulin 3xs a day. My sugar has been really good so far, but that's also because not eating too much, and mostly protein. I think the doctors monitor you for quite a while, as you bring/incorparate food back into your life. I'm not sure, but anyway I wish you all the luck in the world, and here's to better health in our futures. Bless you on your new journey, and lots of luck! -
3 Days post op feeling shaky and weak
Kelly Gonzalez replied to Laurensloss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You're only 2 days out from having a major surgery, at this point you need rest. Just do what your doctor tells you, and you will be fine.. -

Kelly Gonzalez replied to dbering's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 12 days post-op, and yesterday I cleaned out my carpet washer, cleaned my vacumme, vacummed, and washed 2 rooms of carpet, washed my kitchen floor. Made my bed, did 2 loads of laundry, went to the store, and I felt fine, except for being tired. Maybe you should csll your doctor, I would be a bit worried. Good luck! -
I Cheated.
Kelly Gonzalez replied to Dondie Olivia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only 11 days out, and I mashed up some black beans tonight, and my new sleeve was ok with them. I don't think hummus is a bad thing as long as your new tummy can handle it. I'm not sure with the coldcuts at this point.I'm just so fed up with the same boring tastes, and I've been doing protein shakes for 3 weeks pre-op, and now 2 weeks post, and it's all I can do to get them down. Good luck in your journey. -

Weird Post Op Question
Kelly Gonzalez replied to AJ Barefield's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey AJ, I'm 11 days post-op, and yea the ketosis state is awful, and I think that's why nothing tastes right either, but as to your other question. All surgeons are different with this, as you may be able to tell. My doctor told me 1 week, clear liquids. #2 pureed, so I was to see him yesterday for first visit, he told me I could have any fruit, as long as it's in it's own fruit juice, and pureed, next wek, starts soft diet, and then week 4 I can start bringing regualr food into the diet. Hope this helps. -
New to this journey
Kelly Gonzalez replied to SouthernPeach's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was told to lose weight, the more the better, and I started out at 278, when I finally had my surgery on 3/31 I was down to 257lbs. My doctor told me that the insurance won't pay, if they don't see a loss from your beginning weight, but I guess all insurance's are different. Plus your general health, if it's bad will also be helpful in them doing your wls. So good luck on your journey. -
Hey Kepsy, I'm only 11 days post-op, and I can't stand the taste of anything. I also want to cry. I was doing 40 grams of protein powder, and went to see my doctor yesterday, and he told me to increase it to 100gms, Its all I can do to get this nasty stuff down me. I can't even stomach the smell of anything. I truly feel your pain, but I thought it might at least get easier, and now I'm seeing you're 5 weeks, OMG. I wish you luck, and blessings sweetheart. All the best.

Kelly Gonzalez replied to DIMPLESONBLAST's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's ok Dimples, vent all the hell you want. It was f'ing painful, and I'm not sugar coating. I'm 11 days post-op, and still have some pain, in the incission marks, and if I reach down, or up the wrong way. What's the right way? I haven't a clue, cause I'm being careful. It takes time, and your journey has begun. I wish you all the best, and we are all here for eachother. Bless you, and hope the pain eases soon. -

Stop the Whining Over A Few Miserable Days!
Kelly Gonzalez replied to TheOldMeAgain's topic in Rants & Raves
To The Old Me Again, I think everyone needs, and has a right to vent, regardless of all the research, it doesn't put it into the true perspective, as having it done. I was, I thought prepared for my father to pass, after many yrs of living in pain, and thought I could handle it, until the day it happened. This forum is very good for those who are doing well, as for those who aren't doing well, We all need someone to vent to, and many on here may have nobody. I actually was supposed to have this done a year ago, and researched for 2 yrs, but I can honestly tell you all the research in the world didn't prepare me for the pain I had when I came out from recovery. I am not heavy, I had a hernia that couldn't be repaired because of infection, my bowels, and intestines split my stomach lining, split my stomach muscle in half, and have been growing, and growing since 2006. My arms , and legs, are like twigs, it's only my abdomen. So I had to have the surgery, so that a year from now they can open me up, and put everything into a nice mesh bag, and there will be room. so you see, everyone's journey is different. Have a little empathy, that's why we're all on here to SUPPORT one another. Good luck on your journey! -
@ Loveit, Not worse then cancer treatment, but it was worse then the surgery I had to remove my cancer. I won't sugar coat, it hurt like hell. I have never felt a pain like that in my 56 yrs.

I'm thinking if you were told not to lift more then 15lbs, and you lifted 45lbs, at 30lbs over your advice, at 3 x, equals 90lbs ove lifting, at 12 days out. I would question what the pain was, and like someone else said, you really should be calling/going to the doctor/ER. Im not trying to bash you, but they tell you these things for a reason. I mean it's not going to hurt them if you don't listen, you usually hurt yourself, and your loved ones. I hope all goes well, and please listen to your doctor. Good luck, and bless you!

When Will I Have A Decent Meal Again
Kelly Gonzalez replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 8 days post-op, and I ask that question every dayI just don't do clear liquids, unless they have something in them that's good. Pureed food, is just awful, but I keep telling myself, it's not the end of the world. My husband made a big steak tonight, I actually bought it for him, because I felt so bad that his eating habits ( he's small framed) have been cut, because I'm not cooking, and it's just him, and I. OMG child when I smelt that steak , had to put the Vicks up my nose, and sucked down (sipped, slowly) a disgusting protein shke. Haha. Well I'm full now, and he enjoyed his steak, the dog's under the table enjoying the bone, and I just feel like shit, haha.. Hope all goes well for you. I love reading your posts cupcake. Bless you sweetheart on your journey! -
Day 7, and as everyone has said. I hate the protein shakes, and pureed anything tastes like shit. I think the sugar free anything is sweeter then sugar. It's very difficult, and have melted down crying, and wishing I hadn't done it, but it will get better, I'm sure. I just wish there was someone closer to me that was going through it, where we could go through it together. Or something, I don't know, but I seriosly feel your pain. I'm here, off, and on to talk if you need, maybe we can help eachother. Good luck!

OMG I had a friend tell me a year ago, about soomeone she knew " she only had wls, big deal" I am floored today of those words, and if anyone ever said them to me again, watch out cause we're going to tackle. I had cancer surgery back in 2006, I had a full hysterectomy, and tumor removal, I was hospitalized for 2 weeks, projectile vomiting, tubes down my throat, and I will say there's been no harder journey then the pre-op, and post-op of wls. When I woke up in recovery I felt as if someone took a chainsaw to my abdomen, I was screaming in pain, but they did run over, and administer pain meds into my IV, and kept me pretty med uped after. The diet is fowl, oh yes I love being on a all clear liquid diet for a week, you should try it sometime, and then graduating to puree, how do I rate? So anyone who hasn't took the ride, this is no easy journey, it's a lifetime commitment to being healthy, after killing ourselves for so long. Dam those who don't understand, I don't care. I just hope, and wish you never have to make this decision, and I'm sure my fellow sleevers wish they never had to make this decision, but we had to, and we are here. Good luck everyone.

This happened to me. I was supposed to be sleeved June 2013, and 2 weeks before my surgery, my surgeon tested me. I also cut down to only 1 cigarette a day. He would not do the surgery, he said it was too much of a risk. I went on Chantrix, and I can't say weather it helped me or not, because I never finished taking them, but I quit last November, and was sleeved on 3/31. I smoked for 47 yrs, so if I can do it, so can you. You just have to tell yourself it's all in your mind. If you were hospitalized, or jailed, you wouldn't be able to smoke, and you would have to do it. I just kept reminding myself of this. I feel so much better that I quit. Good luck, I know it's not easy.

What happens if you dont drink protein?
Kelly Gonzalez replied to lmdx0sleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I know how you feel. I was having no problem on pre-op with the Protein shakes, but now it's all I can do to get them down without gagging them up. It's nice to know there's others out there. -
Hi, I'm week one post-op, and I just started the pureed food yesterday. I'm just wondering if anyone is having trouble with the food, in as much as flavor? I can, and have been able to hold down pretty much anything I have tasted so far,( not much) I really enjoy the applesauce, but tried pureed bean soups, 2 different kind, and just put it in the garbage,I bought some baby cereal, and baby pureed fruit, so will try them later, but the protein shakes, I was on 3 weeks pre-op, and I am so sick of them I can barely swallow them any more. If anyone has any ideas, Id really appreciate them. It's bumming me.

Hi, I'm one week, and I've lost 5 lbs, so when I see people say the weight is falling off, I'm like, what's going on? I'm not enjoying the ride so far either, and I too am having some serious regrets with the whole thing. I hate the protein shakes, liquid diet was boring, and long, now started pureed yesterday, and I hate sweetner anything, it just tastes too dam sweet. Just went to Walmart, and bought some bean soups to puree, maybe they will be good, also some baby cereal, and baby fruit, we'll see. Too late to go back now, maybe things willget better. Bless you all!

2 days Post Op
Kelly Gonzalez replied to lilbitahoney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@ AJ , girl you made me laugh. It's the hardest thing ever watching everyone else eating, and you can't have anything, and the smells are the kicker. I do the same thing, I usually go to my bedroom with my drink, and stick Vicks up my nose, lol.. Good luck to all. -
11 days post op- liquids
Kelly Gonzalez replied to srs531's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I'm 7 days post, and I also hated the clear liquid part, I started the sf puddings, in which I incorparate some Protein powder into., pureed soup, and applesauce today. Loving the applesauce. I'm still quite gassy, and I do walk. I'm taking gasx, omeprazole 2x a day 40mgms,and a coctail of malox, and other nasty stuff, the doctor ordered, but the gases just stick around. Hopefully they will let you change over to something else.I received a planner from day one of pre-op, and it takes you right through to post-op,and 6 months after, with the meals you can have, and when to start them.Keep in touch, and we can all help eachother on this journey. Good, bad, or other..Blessings to all.
