    Nectar protein

i just googled, and guess it's just a brand. I think someone should invent protein pills, with high grams of protein. Hate those shakes, make me gag.

    Diabetes is gone!

Wow, that's great. How long were you a diabetic? I'm hoping when I see mine, he tells me the same. Middle of next month, but I don't know that he will do anything right away, might keep me monitored. My sugar levels have been really good, except yesterday, they were between 179-189, This morning 112, which is great. well congratulations on your good news.

    help

Yea, don't rush it, everybody's body is different. I'm 23 days post, and I've hit a stall, but I just keep reading everyones posts on here, and it will leave when it's ready. Just keep doing what you have to do. Good luck!
  6. Tell them when he got sick, he couldn't afford to go to the doctor, so he just dealt with it the best way he could, no insurance. Who would have paid? I know lots of people that were in that boat. Or does he have Emergency room visits to any hospitals? I never heard of this before, I thought the government just declared obesity a disease, a letter from a doctor now should help. He's not getting any younger, and the older you get the weight becomes more dangerous Good luck!

    I think I am done

I'm so sorry, and it doesn't sound like everything is fine.Have they checked you for a leak? I was reading that your left arm, and shoulder have pain when there's a leak, and this can be dangerous. not saying that's what you have, but they should check. Hope things get better for you, it's not an easy journey, and can only imagine it's worse in your condition. Bless you, and hope you feel better soon!
  8. I'm only 3 weeks post-op, so I have no idea what you're going through, but if it's making you feel bad that you gained some weight back, I say do it, don't think it can hurt. Maybe when you feel hungry if you do a protein shake, it would help. I know people say push protein first, so maybe if you did more protein it may fill you. I hope I helped, even a little for you. Bless you Will.

what was your first pureed meal?

I bought a black bean Soup, from Progresso, and a bean, and ham soup, pureed both, and couldn't eat either of them, they just tasted awful. I finally made some home made black Beans, and I knew the puree wasn't going to work for me, so I just semi mashed them, and chewed, and it worked. lived on that, and yogurt, and applesauce. Now i'm on regular food, but it's still not easy, just do a little at a time. Find Greek yogurt, and cottage cheese, with pineapple, goes down fairy easy. Tried some baked flounder tonight, it wasn't hurting, but it wasn't easy either, just felt a bit heavy.

    Worried...

I'm not on any antidepressants, but I take many meds, and you just continue as normal, but you should ask your surgeon before your surgery if you're that worried, or ask your psych doc, or even the pharmacist. good luck!

Protein 2 oz or 4 oz

My doctor told me at this early in the game, you're supposed to be getting 100gms of protein. I try to do a shake with 30 gms protein, then I do 2 yogurts, during the day, and some cottage cheese, I'm probably not getting 100gms, but near enough. it's all I can do to get the protein shake down, or I would do 2. Good luck hope this helps.
  13. My surgeon gave me a cocktail, I know it has Malox in it, along with a bunch of other things. You also have to remember you're on a clear liquid diet, so maybe that could have something to do with it. I wouldn't worry. You really don't have to have a bowel movement every day. I had a neighbor once that used to go over a wekk before she could go, and doctors told her that's quite natural for some people. Funny enough, my own daughter has now become one of those people, It will happen when It's ready, haha.. Good luck on your journey, both of them, lol.

Old habits really do die hard

I wouldn't beat myself up over it, I'm sure there have been plenty on here that get side tracked, and don't addmit to it. I give you guys kudos for telling it like it is. We've been used to a way of life for such a long time, and everything, and every where you look, screams food, or smells food, we're bound to stumble. The old saying " Rome wasn't built in a day" The main thing is you recognize it, and getting back on track. I'm almost 3 weeks post-op, and I would be a liar if I said I was NEVER going to eat crap food again, I have no idea what's going to happen in my future, but I now have the tool to work it. Good luck everyone!

suggestions for gummy Multi Vitamin with lots of Iron?

Well my daughter is pregnant (#2) and she just suggested to me yesterday, "mom, why don't you buy the pre-natal gummy vitamins in Target, cause they are loaded" So think that's my plan. Hope it works for you!

    Ready to drink protein shakes

I'm now on soft diet, and I can do fruit in my shakes, so I tried banana in the vanilla, it was my favorite pre-op, but it's way too sweet post-op. Your taste buds seem to change a bit. I just started adding a tsp of decaf coffee granueles, and unsweetened chocolate, and it's pretty good. I'm really not feeling the shakes as much as before either. Good luck!
  19. I can't remember but I saw my surgeon like almost every month to two months for almost a year. Everytime I went he would give me more orders of things he wanted done (scripts, because I navvigated outside of his hospital for pulmonary, sleep apnea, heart)he was very strict in his procedure, which I am grateful for. I will say that all the things I had to do, and all the research I did, still didn't prepare me for what the actual surgery, and post surgery is like, because we are all different, we have no idea until we go through it.

    Taking pills again?

I have been taking mymeds also, and as Chinagirl said, break them in half. I had one pill that I tried crushing and mixing, it was horrible, but it was for my lupus so I just took it regular. I havent had any problems so far, so good. Good luck

    Confused

The hospital where I had my surgery done was almost 2 hrs from where I live. I just couldn't make all the appointments, so I just chose to get lots of things done right around my area, which my insurance was fine with as long as the surgeon gave me a script. As far as the nut I worked out with her that on my appointment days when I would see the surgeon, I would go to her after, she also worked with me over the phone so it all worked out fine. Maybe you can do the same. Good luck!

    worst day EVER!

I drank the Zero Vitamin Water too, it's awesome, and has natural flavorings, so no sweetner. I feel your pain. It's funny that at the point you are now with the Clear Liquids, you feel like you could eat a house, but next week when you graduate to puree, you'll be lucky if you can get a couple of mouthfuls in. Good luck, it doesn't last forever, even though it feels as if.

    Finding out you don't qualify

The National medical Assoc, has now recognized obesity has a disease so that more insurances will start to cover wls, so you may be alright. Just remember though all that added weight is harder to take off, and most insurances want to see a weight loss pre-op. I had to lose 20lbs during the time I was having all my tests done. My doctor told me that the insurance wouldn't cover the surgery, if they didn't see the weight loss during that time. So I wish you luck, and I think you will be fine.
  25. I'm not sure Sisssy, I'm almost 2 weeks post-op, and by the time I get the protein shake (60gms of protein) down in the a.m. and the applesause for my pills, I really can't even get anymore liquids down. I then do some pureed black beans, maybe 2 TBS for lunch, and the same with dinner, and a few tips of a spoon of pureed baby food, (fruit) that's it, that's all I can get down, and try to sip liquid throughout the day. I try to get the protein in above all, i really don't want to lose hair. Good luck Sissy!
