    OCTOBER 2014

These are the moments where we literally take baby steps, huh? Keep your chin up and believe in your strength and ability to heal through the pain. I know it sucks, but try to stay positive and hang tough. Thinking of you!!

    OCTOBER 2014

Sometimes it seems like they just don't get it, do they, lol? You're going through so much physically, not to mention emotionally. Your hubs may just be feeling a little sorry for himself, feeling a little resentful of the focus on you, that he's not getting enough attention, or just how his life is affected by all this "stuff". And him being a butt is the last thing to make you feel romantic... My hubs is trying to lose about 30 lbs right now and seems to be doing it pretty easily - grrrr. Anyway, I keep telling him how good he looks, it's noticeable, etc, and do you think it might occur to him to say the same to me once in awhile? Duh...so frustrating. ???? Keep your chin up and remember that it'll pass - till the next dumb thing comes along! Lol ????
  5. I have read that sometimes they will use a stent to correct the stricture. Good luck!

    Blurry vision

I had the same thing, and it cleared up within a few days. I also had a patch for nausea, but didn't realize it could've been causing the blurred vision. Interesting!
  7. Congrats!! I'm about 11 lbs from that and cannot wait to see that number below 200! So happy for you. ????

    2 years post-op gained 20lbs back.

I don't know if this is helpful or how beneficial, but I've come across this type of information a few times. Not sure how necessary it is to "retrain your pouch", but it seems to make sense. I'm only two weeks out from my rny, but I'd consider his in the future if I got off track. Good luck; I'm sure you're frustrated and scared. http://5daypouchtest.com/plan/faq.html
  9. You're feeling exactly what I'm sure everyone else feels going into the surgery - me included. I was so scared the morning of my surgery. It is a scary decision, but a brave one that you're making for a healthier future. Best wishes!

    Pre-Op Diet ?

My surgeon requires a two-week pre-op diet that's basically a modified Atkins. No carb, no sugar, low fat, no caffeine, no carbonated drinks, small portions, etc. I was told it was to jump start my weight loss as well as shrink my liver.

    OCTOBER 2014

I've been lucky enough to not have any issues getting my liquids in since surgery. I try to have 8-10 oz of Protein Drink when I first get up, then breakfast an hour or so later. I also have a bottled Water and Protein drink in between lunch and also dinner. I can't gulp, by any means, but I drink a bottled water in a half hour or so. From what I'm reading and learning, it's a struggle for many who can't get their liquids in. I also switched to pureed foods today, and I'm incredibly full - almost nauseating. I was excited to add some food, but it's kind of grossing me out! ???? Hoping that doesn't impact my Fluid intake. Good luck!

    OCTOBER 2014

I just officially changed to pureed today. I don't have any experience with the chest pain, but could you have eaten to fast or too much? Last night I decided to try a tiny bit of salmon mixed with cauliflower mash (like mashed potatoes) and I had no issues. This morning I had some scrambled egg whites with a little yogurt dip, and it went down fine, but 20 minutes later I had diarrhea (sorry). My stomach felt a little crampy for awhile after that, but otherwise I'm fine. I don't necessarily consider this to be dumping, but not sure. I wonder if it's normal for foods to go right through you when you first start introducing them. It's hard not knowing what's going on in there, isn't it? Everything is a mystery!

    pre op diet

My surgeon requires a two week pre-op low fat, high protein, and no carb/sugar eating plan to jump start your weight loss and shrink the liver to make surgery easier. Laprascopic is the goal and they need room to work; shrinking the liver apparently really helps this. Good luck!

    Hiccups?

I randomly hiccup throughout the day. Usually just a few times and then they're gone. I wonder why also!

    OCTOBER 2014

I start pureed foods on Monday, and I bought some stuffed salmon at the grocery store. I'm thinking I won't really eating the stuffing, but did you puree the salmon? Couldn't a flaky fish just be smashed up?

    OCTOBER 2014

I do, thanks! I honestly think it was from adding the protein powder to the chicken soup and it was just too much. After all that yesterday afternoon, I felt better, but then last night, a bout of diarrhea (sorry) just hit me. I think it was still from the afternoon. I've read that dumping can happen several hours later. I've also read that eating or drinking something too hot or too cold can even cause dumping. Yikes!
