    Halfway there....So Excited! (pics)

I'm in a similar place--- more than halfway down, feeling stronger and my head's in a better place too. Kind of great, isn't it?

Lady are you trying to kill me!

@@joatsaint, my Dad didn't like loose dogs crapping in the yard, so he sprinkled chocolate Ex-Lax on the lawn. They stopped coming around(!)

Band to sleeve failure HELP PLEASE

@@Susan.davis, I suggest you go to a Bariatric Center of Excellence for a second opinion, bringing the results of all the tests with you. I don't think it's a good idea to go back to the same surgeon for a "do-over".

    Another protein shake question

You can add the flavorings and extras. I mix my Protein shakes with SILK unsweetened soymilk, then add Sweet N' Low to sweeten it up a bit. Making the shake with this or skim milk gives you an extra 7 grams of protein.

    What's in your hospital bag?

@☁9⃣B, you don't need to dread the shoulder pain. Tell the surgeon that you want the gas removed before they close you up.

    freaking out!

What kinds and amounts of exercise are you getting?
  12. I wish I had known earlier that a less drastic surgery was available! I knew I had to do something effective. What I was doing was not working, and a doctor told me that my weight would take 10 years off my life. I felt I was hurtling towards a cliff and didn't have any brakes. I also had diabetes. Once I went to the surgeon's presentation, I made up my mind and was absolutely committed to having sleeve surgery. I had no pain afterwards, and didn't even need to fill my pain prescription. My diabetes went away in 2 days. I'm around 4 months out and doing well. I can eat anything and feel full just like I used to. I am so glad I did this!

@@allyray, I suggest you talk to your primary doctor and see if you can get a referral for a sonogram to see if you have gallstones.

    freaking out!

@@lynn sh, sometimes that feeling of being hungry has to do with needing fluids. Congratulations on your weight loss!
  17. I had similar stats as you weight-wise and had similar problems losing weight. It was very frustrating. I went with the sleeve because there were no surgical connections (less risky), no stuck feeling from a small pouch, and that the way it works is restriction only. The bypass works with restriction and malabsorption; they take out the upper part of the intestine which absorbs certain nutrients/vitamins. With the bypass, doctors have to monitor you more closely to make sure you are not heading towards a Vitamin deficiency. From what I've read on this site, if you have severe GERD or reflux, the sleeve is not recommended. Many people have lost lots of weight with the sleeve. Stand your ground!
  18. @@Sophieteel, lots of people over 60 are having or have had the sleeve! I was sleeved last September and couldn't be doing better! I suggest you check out the forum for folks over 60. To change your specs, look at the top right hand side of the screen, where there is a disc with scalloped edges. Click on that, then "My Surgery". Next to your height, click on the box labeled "Use Metric." Good luck and let us know how you're doing.

The trick is getting good ones! I used the Bariatric Advantage, caramel-flavored. They were such a treat I looked forward to them!
  21. I hope you have a great experience! Nice digs too!
  22. @@Cleo's Mom, I can understand your reluctance to go forward, but please don't give up based on your experience with the band. I've never had a stuck feeling and I can eat anything I want. I can't eat a lot, but I'm not restricted. There is no way I could have lost what I have without the sleeve. I wish the same for you.
  23. @@newtree, not necessarily. He may have been in the hospital for 2 nights because he wasn't able to get as much liquid in as he needed to. So, you might be in the hospital for one night.
