BEST THING I EVER DONE
BeagleLover replied to georgeserlis's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have a question. I love to try new recipes and adding lots of flavor/spices to food. I'm afraid this is too drastic and that I'll miss out on all that I enjoy. Was this your experience? -
No complaints here!

The Two Week Milk Diet
BeagleLover replied to luckyknickers57's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are you adding something with Protein to the milk, or whatever liquid you're taking in? If you go the Protein powder route, my NUT emphasized looking at the ingredients list for protein ISOLATE, not protein concentrate. Best wishes! -
Having enough Protein prevents muscle wasting. Also there is such thing as "muscle memory." It's a lot easier to get back to where you were than starting from scratch. Wow! When you lose weight, you're going to see all those muscles and curves!

Greetings and best wishes from Northern Silver Spring/Burtonsville. How are you doing?!

New to the loser's bench and having some questions RE consumption! Please help!
BeagleLover replied to TheLCSpencer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
According to my NUT, you want to look at the ingredients list. To make sure you are getting high quality Protein powder, she recommended making sure it says protein ISOLATE, not protein concentrate. -
From what I've learned on this site, it's totally normal to think one day, "It's a good idea," and "What the heck am I thinking!" the next. I also have diabetes, and also sleep apnea. My doctor told me this weight would take 10 years off my life. Whoa! That's a LOT of time! I don't want to miss so much or have my kids miss me so much for so long.

I officially HATE protein shakes!
BeagleLover replied to yolicious1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just ordered a book that sounds promising, "The Bariatric Foodie Guide to Perfect Protein shakes." If you make them yourself, you have the flexibility to make them just the way you like. -

I suggest you talk to a friend and ask them to be a back up in case it's needed. That may ease you mind. You ARE taking care of him by taking care of yourself. -
How are you doing? Did the fatty liver clear up? I have one too. My BMI is 38, and I will have surgery in the September/October timeframe. My understanding is that you have to lose all the excess weight for the body to remove the fat from the liver too.
-
Hi, I'm 63. Started going through the hoops to get approval for surgery (BMI is 38). I have diabetes, sleep apnea, back problems, knee issues... hope this will help. Never too late to get healthy and be here for my family an extra 10 years!
