New girl in need of friends!
BeagleLover replied to KirstyK25's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Most, if not all, of us are in the same boat. You've come to the right place. You'll find tons of information, experience and support available. I've learned so much! I hope to get sleeved either in early September or October. Best of luck in your journey! -
Oh! I mis-read this--- I thought you said WeeWee'ers... got my attention!

Pre-op Protein making me sick
BeagleLover replied to missheathyr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I came across a liquid Protein that can be put in any drink or food, hot or cold, ProSource and ProSource Plus. Yesterday, I found one that was No Carb. Anyway, it is made for situations of low volume drinking-- which is where a lot of people are after their sleeve. I thought it'd be really helpful with Clear liquids post op, but might be a decent replacement of whey Protein drinks which you are not tolerating right now. I would like to see you also let the surgeon know as soon as possible that you are vomiting and not keeping the protein shakes down. Maybe the surgery should be done much sooner and the doctor could fix the hernia at the same time. I know they want the liver to shrink prior to getting sleeved, but what's going on with not being able to keep any nourishment down is not what they want to see. Good luck and keep us posted, OK? -

Surgery in 10 days cannot sleep
BeagleLover replied to SherB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The gastric sleeve is recognized as being a safe surgery. You, being a good parent, know that you need this help to make sure you will be there for your son LONG TERM. You've make a fantastic effective choice to be healthier-- rest easy! -
Did your NUT give you any guidance on the amount of calories you should aim for? If not, does the hospital that did the surgery, or any other nearby hospital have bariatric support groups? Sometimes, my NUT attends those meetings; other times the bariatric coordinator does a presentation. There is always time for questions too (without having to spend any money). When I went to my initial bariatric surgeon's presentation, he emphasized that that people that do best in the long term are the ones that keep coming to the support meetings and surgeon's follow up appointments.

I think the best thing would be to organize the neighbors to ALL go down to the station and file police reports and meet with the police to find out about increasing surveillance on the streets in the area. If you haven't already, you may want to start a "Neighborhood Watch" program. We have one person on our street with addresses/phone #s/ e-mail addresses. If anyone has a problem or sees anything, they let her know. Then she sends a group e-mail to let all the neighbors know so it becomes known that there is zero tolerance for that crap. Good luck!

gave up....

I suggest you get a referral to go to a surgeon at a bariatric Center of Excellence and get a 2nd opinion on what to do next. -
Just a guess, but I think it's really costly because it's so new. Once it's approved and a lot more doctors start using it, the competition will bring the price down.

What a load of ignorant B.S.! You have chosen to be healthier and could NOT have gotten down to goal weight without a considerable amount of tenacity and effort! THAT is "who you are"! Personally, I think they are jealous!!!

Psychological Testing
BeagleLover replied to KristenLee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's important to get across that you know that the sleeve won't get rid of 100% of the excess weight, that it's a tool. You have to do your part to get the rest of the way there. -
I would have quit 1,000 times by now...

I agree with @@Ginger Snaps. Also, have you tried chewable vitamins-- my NUT recommended the kids' Flintstones chewables. -

Wow. Call them back and tell this IGNORAMUS that it IS an emergency and you need to be put through to the doctor IMMEDIATELY. Then report this guy to the person to the doctor and the person in charge of the emergency after hours service. This should NOT happen again! -

preop liquids suggestions
BeagleLover replied to 30sunshine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm currently doing research on ProSource, ProSource Plus and ProSource No Carb. The liquid Protein blends with anything hot or cold. I thought of using it in my pre-op liquid phase and post-op clear liquid phase instead of buying expensive ready-to-drink bottles with protein mixed in for you. I've read that someone was given this in the hospital mixed with Crystal Light. -
