  1. No, don't know a preventative. Here's the reason why it happens though: http://asmbs.org/patients/bariatric-surgery-faqs Will I lose my hair after bariatric surgery? Some hair loss is common following surgery and typically occurs between the third and sixth months following surgery. This is a result of several factors including the physiologic stress, the emotional stress of the adjustments and the nutritional stress following surgery. This is temporary, and adequate intake of Protein, Vitamins and minerals will help to ensure hair re-growth.

    I don't get it.....

@@erp I agree with what you've said, but not that it is necessarily expensive--- you can get fab finds at thrift shops and Ebay.

    Pre op liquid diet

The whole point of the two weeks, or whatever the surgeon requires, is to shrink the liver so it's as much out of the way as possible and less prone to damage during the surgery. I don't really know why there is so much variation between doctors, there just is.
  5. I've read on Bariatric Pal that most people turn the corner between 3 - 5 days. Good luck!
  6. Congratulations! How are you feeling so far? I hear the first 3 days are difficult(?)

    And So Our Journey Begins...

Clearly, you are NOT a doctor. What you are mixing is crazy-- very dangerous! In my opinion, it also sounds like you are on the way to crossing over from a food addiction to an alcohol addiction.

    Protein and supplements

I plan to take them as soon as possible after surgery. That is the understanding I got from my NUT.

    Black Out

I don't know if this is related to bariatric issues or not, but I had this problem. The doctor said it was "postural hypotension." My blood pressure dropped if I got up suddenly. He told me to get up more slowly.

    Inspiring Words

My favorite came from @@Cupcake 's Mom: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/315012-my-surgeon-after-approving-me-denied-me-a-year-later/?hl=%2Bmonkey#entry3555054 "no monkey doesn't stop no show" Hilarious!
  15. Cargo pants with lots of pockets filled with cell phones (including the one that was put down into a puddle of Water on the counter and doesn't work anymore). A jeans jacket. Heavy garden shoes.

@KSTUZ. Got it both times.... glad I could help!
  18. How other people reacted to others is really irrelevant. Tell her... after some initial shock, she'll either like what she hears or not. Even that is irrelevant. Tell her how much of a struggle life has been for you with your weight. You've made the best effective choice for yourself so you can be healthy. Also, what if you DON'T tell her?! What are you going to do then if you, her best friend, kept such a big secret from her? That might be very damaging to your friendship.
  19. @jennabean44 Don't allow a surgeon to unnecessarily frustrate you.... get your result reports and see someone else.
  20. The psych report came back OK, on what basis is he refusing? This doesn't make sense! I would call the insurance company and find out what time frame you have/when the reports and procedure(s) result reports expire and just get copies of everything, go to another surgeon, and pick up where you left off.

  22. Are you from the U.K.? I don't know your hospital system and how you are approved. I've seen a post in which they had very competent inexpensive sleeve surgery in Jordan.

I found one too, does the one you found have Iron? It wasn't in the brand I found. IF there is calcium in it, iron shouldn't be taken at the same time... maybe that's why.

Walter Lindstrom has a website in which he details the appeals process and options you have. Very interesting! http://wlsappeals.com/how-we-help/
