    Question about pre op diet

Welcome! Did the nutritionist give you details on what you needed to do? Is the point of it to lose weight? I would check this with the nutritionist on what the insurance company's ground rules are. For example, would gaining any weight past your initial weigh in cause a denial?
  2. Heck no! Isn't that one of the benefits of having the surgery--- getting away from all that dieting shhhtuff! My NUT said, if you count anything, count Protein grams to make sure you're getting enough. I imagine, after you do that for a few months, you'd have it down & wouldn't even have to do that. Congratulations on your continuing progress. It sounds like you're working hard.
  3. I'm 5' 2" too. Where you are sounds great! Then again, It's what YOU wants that counts!

No! It is NOT safe! It was taken off the market due to liver failure. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/08/oxyelite-pro-hawaii-liver-failure_n_4066158.html

    Pre Op Liquid Diet Ideas...

It probably clumped up because the temperature of the liquid was over 140 degrees. To add flavor variety, try adding Torani or DaVinci sugarless syrups. The "liquid" pre-op diet plan given to me allows a small amount of mushy whole grains for Breakfast in the morning, some yogurt (with flavorings, Sweet N' Low added), and 1/2c. sugar free applesauce. There is also a good book, "The Bariatric Foodie Guide to Perfect Protein shakes." Good luck!

    Surgery Cancellation

Just go there & we'll see tomorrow after you get there?! Doesn't seem like a considerate or businesslike way to treat anybody. Having said that, I hope everything works out for you tomorrow.

    Aetna Help!

OK, why not go on the diet, and IF they turn you down, do the Protein drinks & get a new number to go along with your appeal.

    Aetna Help!

I would ask them to delay sending the package to insurance for 2 weeks. Make believe you are on a 2-week pre-op diet. You can knock the 7 lbs. off by then.

    April 10th - 35# down - STRUGGLING

No need to be disappointed, just work the plan & get back to basics. Log what you are eating and figure out what the protein (at least 60 grams), carbs, fat and calories are and see if you are in range.

    Saving Your Life

Walter Lindstrom has interesting information on appeals-- that the strength of your appeal is greater if you appeal, rather than your surgeons's staff. http://www.wlsappeals.com

    Where are my maryland sleevers?

My weigh in is this Friday. If you are worried about the weight gain, just look in the packet they gave you and call the nutritionist and ask about it.
  20. Do you have any co-morbidities?
  21. Welcome! I haven't had the surgery yet, but I think it's great to have the surgery option--- it's effective and the weight loss is more easily sustainable than yo yo dieting. You wind up healthy and minimize the chances of diabetes, sleep apnea, joint problems/replacements. Deal with the skin issues afterwards, if you need to. There are lots of success stories here!
  22. I imagine he's going to fix it while doing the sleeve surgery. I've read many posts on that.
