i found a lump on my breast and i'm petrified
BeagleLover replied to jessiquoi's topic in The Gals' Room
@@jessiquoi, I know this is hard to do, but please think along the lines of, "I refuse to get upset over something I don't even know is there or important." Relax until you know otherwise. That'll help stay on an even keel in the meantime. Best wishes for Friday! -
Walking as much as possible will help get rid of the gas. Congratulations!

Newbie Here-Best Protein Shakes for Pre-Op/Post Op Diet?
BeagleLover replied to BeenGym'N's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The best Protein is protein isolate. It is the most absorbable. There are 3 brands that I think of that are 100% protein isolate and have good ratings on taste: Syntrax nectar, unjury (i.e., chicken soup), and Isopure. -
I think your experience would be valuable to people making a decision as to what type of surgery would be best for them!

i found a lump on my breast and i'm petrified
BeagleLover replied to jessiquoi's topic in The Gals' Room
Just a reminder to have your mammos done every year ON TIME. I was going to put off my appointment for one back in 2000 due to my boss's pressure not to use any more sick leave. . Turns out I did have breast cancer. Due to all the improvements in imaging back then, it was caught VERY early. I had a lumpectomy; no lymph node involvement. Piece of cake. Ugh, shouldn't say that here(?) -
Why is being in a relationship so much harder post-op?
BeagleLover replied to ScreamingForMySupper's topic in The Gals' Room
It must be hard when he doesn't seem to want to communicate! -
I suggest you look at Walter Lindstrom's blog on WLS appeals: http://wlsappeals.com/2094/walters_bariatric_surgery_blog/20-years-bariatric-surgery-patient/ Don't give up!

ANYONE HAVE ANY TIPS/ADVICE FOR GETTING IN ENOUGH PROTEIN?
BeagleLover replied to APURNELL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks so much for the tip! I'll be sure to try it! -
There are mouth appliances that g-r-a-d-u-a-l-l-y move your lower jaw forward to stop you from snoring. I MUCH prefer that to a stupid CPAP machine!

Recommendations for a better tasting protein supplement?
BeagleLover replied to AudraN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just a reminder on all these Protein supplements to check the TYPE of protein that is in it. Protein isolate is the one most absorbable. If you do a search on this site, you'll be able to identify which Proteins don't help at all in achieving your protein requirements. -
co-morbidities?
BeagleLover replied to XForeverYoursX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, you need to check IF your insurance covers bariatric surgery. If covered, usually two co-morbidities, which you have mentioned, high cholesterol and sleep apnea should be enough to qualify. Also, you are over a BMI of 35. You need to change your PCP to one that is supportive! -

RNY caused me to lose my friends

I suggest you go to a different church and change other groups. Wouldn't all that just go away? -

-

I suggest you use the Search on this site for Protein shake recipes. You can also try the blog site, The World According to Eggface. I bought a good book, "The Bariatric Foodie Guide to Perfect Protein shakes." Have fun!
-
It's not really relevant. Everyone is different and lose at different rates.

Had Surgery 11/08/2013
BeagleLover replied to paulae486's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@Chefkevin, I suggest getting some Protein powder that either tastes like Cookies for shakes, or using vanilla or chocolate protein powder to make cookies. Try looking at the online blog, The World According to Eggface. She even has some protein ice cream recipes! Also, this book helped me not bring stuff home I couldn't stay away from: "Emotional First + Aid" by Cynthia Alexander. -
Depressed and Scared...will this work?
BeagleLover replied to blonde ambition's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you know what to do and are following the plan... this will definitely work! -
Wow! You have the confidence to post a bikini pic?! Hooooly Mooooly... for good reason. You look terrific!
-
I can't answer that, especially since I'm pre-op. However, at the nutritional meetings, I was told that the surgeon has people eat mushy foods almost immediately. Different doctors have different instructions. So, it may not be as bad as you think!
