    Liquid diet

Every doctor is different. Mine will require 2 weeks.
  2. Do you have the what-cha-ma-call-it gizmo that takes veggies and makes a spiral noodles?
  3. When you work out with resistance, are you using machines or free weights? Free weights would allow your stability muscles to engage.

    Coffee

I suggest gradually switching from high octane to decaf. I've also heard a lot of people talk about how much they liked Chike Iced coffee Protein powder.

    Pre op liquid diet

If approved, I will be going to a hospital that is a Center of Excellence. I don't know if that is the reason, but my NUT said that nobody has been disapproved due to weight loss or gain.

    Favorite Vitamins

My NUT recommended Bariatric Advantage as the best.

    Bariatric vitamins

I will be getting Bariatric Advantage, recommended by my NUT.
  9. Sorry to hear that. I applaud you for going ahead and making yourself healthy regardless. On some level, your Mom has to know this isn't right. Any chance she would go to Al Anon and see a nutritionist to get back on track? If her alcohol issues were under control, her real self would show itself and, I imagine she would be supportive of you.

    18 months out

    You look healthy and stunning!
  11. How did the doctor know this? Did he do a test? I don't have one, but there are specific grains to stay away from. I recently read an article on Indian cooking that was saying that they made a pancake out of chickpea flour, which wouldn't bother someone with gluten sensitivity.

    Regaining of weight

@@VSGAnn2014, I have been going to a therapist since 2002. I have done a lot of research and it occurred to me last night as I was "finishing" a large bag of baked potato chips, that I was a "binge eater." There is a DSM category for that now and medication. I think I should try all the non-surgical means possible before my stomach is made the size of a sausage.

    Regaining of weight

I am pre-op and will be done with my insurance requirements Sept. 5th. I don't have a good relationship with food either. I do OK with the quality of the food I eat (balanced meals w Protein, low fat, decent portions). I start eating chocolate, and it goes out the window. I beginning to think that, if it takes so much control to not gain weight back, maybe getting sleeved is not such a good idea. Maybe I'm not ready for it now, if ever!

    Keeping my head up!

Please see the notices on this site in which Bariatric Pal has contacted experienced Mexican surgeons and made arrangements for no middle man. $4400 WITH financing available. If I were in your shoes, I would check this out. As an alternative, you can possibly select an insurance plan that does provide bariatric coverage.

    not taking protein shakes

I agree with @ as to taking in Protein isolate. There are 3 brands I can think of whose protein powder is 100% protein isolate, and low in carbs and sugar: unjury, Syntrax nectar and Isopure. My nutritionist also recommended taking Vitamins & minerals, Iron, Calcium citrate (not calcium carbonate) and B12 to avoid nutritional deficiencies. I was advised to not take the iron at the same time as the calcium because they counteract each other. BariatricAdvantage has a Vitamin mineral mix specifically made for people that have had bariatric surgery and was recommended to me. Wishing you a healthy journey.

    pre-op diet help needed

What am I thinking! I followed a diabetic diet when I was pregnant (gestational diabetes). I lost 25 lbs. with each pregnancy, and my kids were normal weight and healthy. I suggest the 1200 calorie American Diabetic Association diet. Each meal has <=5 fat grams; no sugar. So, you get balanced healthy meals. Without much fat and no sugar, you actually get the most out of those 1200 calories. Good luck!

    What's Going On?

I don't have personal experience with this since I'm pre-op, but I've read posts recommending that you keep measuring and noting the inches lost. That may help you from getting too discouraged.

    sleep apnea

@@Pepper123, I've never heard of having it done the way you did. To be honest, I wonder how accurate it is. Every time I had a sleep study, it was with a sleep specialist with a lot of electrodes and analysis.
