Truth! What's the pain really like?
BeagleLover replied to sheavens's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your responses have been very helpful in knowing what to expect tomorrow. Thanks! -
I was cooking elbow macaroni for my family and had to make sure it was "al dente." I tasted it to make sure it was done, then spit it out. I don't want my surgeon to find a macaroni in there tomorrow!!!

Ex Lax, Miralax, Beneful, Metamucil, Senesomething, Activia, or what?

Try a Moroccan recipe for stewing chicken and prunes together. It is delicious! -
IF you want it done pretty soon, I suggest finding out all the hospitals reasonably close to you, finding out which, if any, are Bariatric Centers of Excellence and look up reviews of the bariatric doctors. Find out which are in-network. All of your medical tests have been sent to insurance. Get copies of the reports and other paperwork that has been done. IF the finances dictate that it needs to be done at your current hospital, I would call the insurance company and find out, once you finish the pre-op requirements and you are approved, how long is that approval good for? For example, if the approval is OK for 6 months, wait or 3+ months at your current hospital to see if they get another bariatric surgeon. If not, go to the results of the in-network research and bring your paperwork and report results and see what you can work out and how much it will cost.

Increased cravings... Smh
BeagleLover replied to Jen - a work in progress's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just came back from a bariatric support group. One woman mentioned having similar cravings. The NUT asked her to write down what she is eating so it can be gone over to see if there is any Vitamin or mineral that she was not getting. Very interesting to me that this is a possible cause for cravings! -
1 month post op, how many calories
BeagleLover replied to vincereautmori's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@vincereautmori, do you "hate the shakes" because you've been having them for a long time, or because you don't have the right brand taste wise? I can't answer the question about the number of calories yet because I haven't gotten sleeved yet. -
Mine's the same day. Not nervous... know I'm doing the best thing for myself. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

What's your favorite proteins?
BeagleLover replied to FluffyChiq's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Forgot to mention, I really like yogurt blended with paw paws + Sweet N' Low! -
What's your favorite proteins?
BeagleLover replied to FluffyChiq's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I really like unjury chocolate splendor w malted milk powder. Another fave is yogurt with a little fruit, of course, sweetened (w/ Sweet N' Low) to the hilt! -
I will be getting sleeved this Friday. I've done the research and made a decision, picked a great hospital and doctor... to be honest, I'm not nervous. Feed good. The liquid diet isn't bad either. Flavor those Protein shakes UP!!!

Who was your surgeon? Thanks.

Sugar addict and Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) surgery?
BeagleLover replied to Quest4TheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a sweet tooth also. I'm on my pre-op diet and just tried something that was very sweet, chocolaty and tasty. 6 oz. chocolate sugar free pudding + 1 1/2 tsp. PB2 + extra Sweet N' Low to taste.. It tasted like a soft creamy Reese's Peanut Butter cup. -
Uh ohhh. Thanks for letting me know. I need get help... my dog doesn't last more than an hour and a half without being taken outside "or else."

I suggest bringing your girlfriend to support groups. It may help her re-commit to being healthy and make better choices. -
Having a Drama *King* Moment! :-)
BeagleLover replied to fatblasting's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@fatblasting Hey man--- you've lost 125lbs. in 4 frickin' months!!!!!! That is nothing short of incredible! It sounds like you know which habits are sneaking back in. The drinking isn't in your best interest. Go back to basics, getting your Protein and veggies, leaving little or no room for carbs. Go to a bariatric support group. When I went to the surgeon's first presentation, he said that going regularly to a support group greatly increased peoples' long term chances of success. That's what you want, isn't it? I'm being sleeved next Friday and hope to have the success you've already had! -
I get it-- I'm getting sleeved Friday. It's a safe operation that will increase your longevity and quality of life. Good decision.

Welcome! Can you tell whether or not your eat for emotional reasons?

I scream for ice cream!
BeagleLover replied to poginut's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm been sleeved on Sept. 26th too! I second that about the ice cream. I don't know or care that the picture is wrong--- I NEED a hamburger and ice cream. Just kidding; I'm not messing up. But this liquid diet is a bit LIGHT! Luckily I only need to do 9 days instead of 14. Best wishes! -
Relationships and weightloss surgery
BeagleLover replied to Healthy_life2's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Can you put a stationary bike in front of the TV? OR, put weight equipment in the basement with a TV? -
I can understand your anger. It sounds to me that they've committed to approving it if you do three more months. As far as the emotional eating goes, one book really helped me: Emotional First Aid Kit (the one about bariatric surgery) by Cynthia Alexander
