  1. I agree! My doctor also removed the gas. I had no gas pains. I would like to see everyone getting surgery demand that this is done. It's unnecessary to have this pain.

Are you scheduled for NUT meetings over 3 or 6 months? Does you hospital or a nearby hospital hold support group meetings? I think they're your best bet. Good luck!

    Insurance Disclosure-HELP

Did the surgeon's office say anything about this?
  4. Congratulations! This is a BIG deal--- so much fun! I would check out the thrift shop for whatever you need.
  5. The wedding vows NEVER were, " 'Til WLS do us part!" I'm with @KarenF1972. What an A-$-$-H-O-L-E! You don't need this turkey. "Hey, don't stand behind the door, or I'll flatten you with it as I go have surgery!" There are other men who would love to be with you. That's what you deserve. Please do this for yourself and your little ones. They deserve a full-on Mom that can play with them. You deserve to see them grow up and possibly get to know your grandchildren. I was just sleeved last Friday. The first 24 hrs. were a bit hard--- couldn't get enough liquid down (so they gave me IV fluids - not a big deal) and threw up a little a few times. The next day I felt like a new person. Yesterday and today I actually felt normal, like nothing had ever happened. I didn't even need the pain meds that had been prescribed. I vote for your going through with it.

    Horrible Headaches

Wow! That must have been hard! I was allowed 1/2c. oatmeal in the morning, Protein shakes at meals, applesauce, yogurt with a 1/4c. fruit pureed together (paw paw was great!), sugar free puddings, totaling 1100 calories/day including 60 - 80 grams protein. I never went into ketosis. Had to do it for 9 days, and didn't feel too much like cheating. My liver shrunk just fine.

    so lost...

As far as Vitamins go, Bariatric Advantage was recommended to me by my NUT as the best. They also have a Calcium CITRATE caramel chewable to take twice a day. I think it's really tasty. For insurance, could you afford Obamacare? Hopefully, your public coverage will be within the income requirement. I had my babies at 38 and 42 years old. My daughters have been so much fun and the highlight of my life! This is waaay cool for you! Congratulations!
  8. Wow, that's great... sounds like you are going to get to your goal and KEEP it there!

    Veterans--Vitamin deficiencies? MS?

I wish I could help, but I have no experience in that area. Hopefully, your MRI won't show MS. Best wishes!
  10. You look absolutely stunning! I just got sleeved last Friday and will use your inspiration to stick with the program! Thanks!

    Horrible Headaches

I suggest, insteading of cutting carbs, why not start drinking Protein shakes 20 minutes before each meal? That way, you will naturally eat less of the more caloric foods at meal times. Also, you can make protein recipes from the powders for Snacks between meals, even ice cream! Check out the blog, The World According to Eggface and http://proteinartist.com
  12. I had my surgery the following day. I agree that the 1st 24 hours were rough. I was pissed off: "Now, what did I just go and do! I had a perfectly good stomach!" But the next day, I felt a LOT better. I'm on clear liquids. I really want to get some Protein in, so I'm putting up with the Isopure clear bottles with 40 grams of protein. Can't wait to advance to full liquids!

Body changes first, then weight changes

Great attitude and approach. I will remember that when I get to this point in my weight loss journey.

    So Humiliated...

Yes! It's all in the name of profit. They are shrinking the space so much there are customer fights breaking out because one person put thingies on the back of the seat in front of him so that person can't recline their seat! It's ridiculous. NOT your fault! The airline created this problem.

    So Humiliated...

Please do write that letter and include a description of the person that spoke to you so rudely. NObody deserves that!

    Are you hungry?

I feel the same way. I'm out 3 days from surgery and just don't care about food. It might as well be cardboard.

    Are you hungry?

Check out http://proteinartist.com and The World According to Eggface, http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/. Hopefully, if you take in 60 - 80 grams of Protein per day and LIKE it, it won't require so much willpower, and you will feel more satisfied. .

    4 days post op

Sorry to hear that. That's terrible. What knuckleheads!
  21. I was sleeved on Friday, Sept. 26th. Couldn't get enough liquids in 1st day, so I stayed in the hospital for 2 nights. Feel MUCH better today. I'm amazed I feel normal.

    Are you hungry?

Clear liquids only? Did you have any Protein? I was able to drink Protein shakes. It makes a big difference curbing your appetite! I had 3 or 4 of them a day and minimized carbs. My NUT allowed 1100 calories; I took in between 630 - 750 for 9 days. My liver did shrink. After surgery it won't be as hard. Your interest in food will go way down.

I made it into the Daily News!

You've saved many lives! Way to go Alex!!!
  24. I just got home from surgery Friday morning. For me, the first 24 hours were rough, but I did get pain meds. Also had a few bouts of nausea. I had trouble getting any sips in and wound up staying an extra night (2 total) so I would get hydration from the IV. I feel fine today. So, not too bad. I don't need any pain meds. I feel normal.
